  1. More of my wall of thorns from Bones5. They are a bit prickly to assemble, the pieces don't fit together very well, but with patience and a hobby knife they come out ok. I suggest painting at least the base coat before assembly, as getting in between the vines can be tricky afterward.
  2. Welcome to this Thanksgiving holiday WIP already in progress. This was my project while waiting for dinner today. This 3D printed dungeon dressing, spell effect or future demon base is from Tomb Guardian Miniatures out of Ohio. I had to sand out some low-res ridges and some connection points but it was quick work. I already painted the interior of the symbols and lines with bright colors. Reaper Candlelight, Reaper Runic Glow and Cavboss Coolant Green as well as Vallejo Stencil. The stonework is Reaper Dungeon Grey, naturally. Up next is to add the glow effect to the runes and lines and perhaps speckle and mark up the stonework with another couple of greys. Enjoy and stay tuned.
  3. This year is the year of giving miniatures as birthday gifts to the friends I game with. One of these fine fellows--my oldest and dearest friend--has a birthday in a couple weeks. He loves magic-users and is obsessed with Harry Potter, so I painted up a 25th anniversary Domur as a classic "Gandalf the Grey" style wizard for his present: Tried to layer the flames to give some interesting and pleasing texture. Let me know how I did. Also, given his love for all things Potter, I did my best to modify Domur's spellbook to a more familiar book cover... I'm actually surprised I could keep the brush steady enough for it to come across at all similar, to be honest.
  4. I finished Churrusina. I am mostly happy with her. Not 100% on the spell effect. I painted and repainted it and decided this was the best try so stopped. I have included the purple smoke photo I used for inspiration, I just couldn't quite get there! Anyway, I think she looks like she could be an interesting NPC for my players to "meet"! C&C welcome. Thanks for looking! Pretty purple smoke.
  5. Hay there haven't posted in a wile, my store is under renovation so I haven't been able to work on stuff lately. I was working on a half orc anti paladin but unfortunately I guess I didn't mix the epoxy correctly when I was gluing the figure together and half way threw painting her she fell apart. So instead I was able to finish this first and wanted to share it. This is the 60059 Harrower, in my mind she is standing at the edge of a cliff channeling magic getting ready to attack what ever is below her. I wanted to try something different with the magic effect so I tried we blending colored washes into different metallic colors and I like the result I got, I then decided to go with a some what anime style theme to the rest of the figures paint scheme. I have included both 2 work in progress photos as well as 2 taken after final assembly. I have no idea why the two final assembly photos are so dark, but the color in the work in progress is much closer to what it actually looks like in person. As always feed back is welcome, please keep in mind I don't normally paint small detail like what I did on the cards and I am working to improve my line size and consistency. As always I post stuff like this and more on my FB page if you would like to follow it I would greatly appreciate it. www.facebook.com/TabletopGlory
  6. Yes, Jafar has an evil twin. He decided that "phenomenal cosmic power but itty bitty living space" wasn't his thing so he decided to go a different route to achieve his fame and fortune. His name is Aziz and he has been working on ways to call forth the dead. I am running an Egyptian based Earthdawn game and realized I paint lots of pretty girls and hardly have any guys (good or bad) even though I do buy males. So, for the past couple weeks I have been working on all male figures - mummies, merchants, a cat...hey, it's a boy cat!, and Aziz. Now I am trying to get everything on bases. So, I had considered putting Aziz on a desert base or a temple floor base but I didn't have what I was looking for so went searching through a friend's box of goodies. He tossed me this base and said "Here ya go, make it lava." Well, I didn't "see" lava when I looked at him but thought I could do something to match the green of the flame coming from the skull. I then had the idea of a hand reaching out of the....goo?....slime?....stuff? So, we started digging through the rest of his stuff and found some arms and heads (also bodies but I didn't want the whole thing) so I chose what I wanted and went to work on his base. I also used Chaoswolf's tutorial on making stringy blood to make dripping goo off the zombie guy's hand. Pretty pleased with how it turned out! As for the pictures, the green is bright (Valejo Fluorescent Green) but not quite as bright as the pictures make it look. In the base there is actually some yellow and white swirled in and then I mixed some green ink with realistic water and poured that over everything. You can't really see any of the details in the photos. I might try different photos with lights angled differently or something. Anyway, here he is! Questions, comments, critiques welcome and encouraged!
  7. Bob in the role as Tim The Enchanter. I saw parts of the movies, seeing Bob throwing fire around and knew I need a Fireball for him. :-) Small Fireball Tutorial: 01. Get a ~0,65mm needle and glue a small plastic bead on it. Some have balls at the end. 02. For the fire around the needle and the ball I used a small hotgluegun trying not to get a to smoothed surface. 03. After the hotglue was cold I tried with the hot a more uneaven surface on the hotglue, again. 04. I drilled a 0,65mm hole in the hand. (better use a hand drilling tool, not a machine!) 05. Bended the needle a little bit 06. used 2-epoxy-glue to glue it in the hand 07. to make it sure it does not change the position I put the fireball on something. 08. painted it white 09. painted it yellow 10. painted it orange 11. painted it red while orange is wet 12. painted it black on the jet near the hand while orange and red are wet
  8. Painted this guy up to be my hubby's new illusionist character. I had a love/hate thing going with him (Seltyiel not my hubby) for the past couple of days. He has so many little fiddly bits and it was hard to tell what some things were. Even looking at painted examples in the Inspiration Gallery didn't always work so I guessed at a few things. I am also not a huge fan of the spell effect thingie. There are some things I am super proud of and some....not so much. He is for playing with though so I tried not to stress too much about the mistakes. So, here he is just in time for tomorrow's game, Seltyiel who from now on will be known as Finagus the Illusionist who is also an archaeologist.
