Hello Reapervalians! So tonight a Stonehaven Pixie, sculpted digitally by Michael Evans from Stonehaven Miniatures. If you're into 3D printings he's been putting lots of things out on My Mini Factory. I had to lighten these pictures up just a tad because I thought they had come out too dark, so hopefully they look all right. As always, colors really hard to choose, knew I wanted natural colors, but didn't know if just greens or some pops of colors. Anyways, hope you all enjoy! She comes on her her Little Rock and without a base. Definitely going to be painting more Stonehaven in the near future! It's kind of weird, as I approach them, they kind of make me think they are going to be "hard" to paint, with lots of little details and for example the space between the body and the wings, but they really turned out quite simply. I haven't really had any problems yet with getting access to parts of Stonehaven minis, usually pretty easy and a pleasure to paint.

Hello all your Reaperrocious folks! So I've got a few 3D prints of some Stonehaven Miniatures minis, and here is the one I just finished, a female gnome druid. I based her color scheme mostly off the pre-sculpting art that Mike Evans did, and one thing I tried this time which I actually like how it turned out was I used Gingerbread Tan, one of the Christmas colors from Reaper, as the base color of her skin. and to reflect that Gingerbread Tan skin, did a few close ups of her face, which I'm actually quite pleased with, eyes turned out okay and didn't have to retake pictures after seeing the first time like I do a lot when I see the first set of pictures and I notice lots of dust or specks or a rebellious piece or grass, et cetera. Anyhoos, she was a very fun figure to paint. I was a little intimidated with her size and some of the details, but ultimately pretty easy to work on, and her eyes very exposed to the point and large enough that they turned out pretty well too. So hope you enjoy!

Morning everybody, just got this one finished and photographed this early morn, one of Michael Evan's halflings, a mage: Big fan of Stonehaven and especially like this figure, as he looks like a traditional Tolkienesque adventuring hobbit, but with that caveat that he has got himself a bit of magic. Way back when in the olden days, halflings were either fighters or thieves, so this is a nice little modern twist. Anyways, enjoy!

We know that minis are art. Painting them, and sculpting them too. But THIS particular mini is art mirroring other art; I feel like the medieval German master stonecarver Adam Kraft was the inspiration for this. The fellow could turn rock into lacework in the Gothic style, and one of his most famous pieces includes a carven self-portrait supporting the ponderous structure above. That same sense of endurance under immense weight, and that same chin-beard, are evident in this laboring dwarf. I do love the detail of the cannonball pouch. No idea how heavy a cannon of that size would be, but at minimum I would say 'hella.' The trudging posture really sells it. The jezzail came from the Futuristic Weapons Reaper sprue, 50025. Those cogwheels fit pretty nicely in a fantasy Early Modern past. Hope you enjoy!

I had so many miniatures to post I decided to break it into two posts... I might have posted this before but it one of my favorites so I'm making sure it gets posted. I'm just so happy with how it turned out. This was a really quick paint job on a Clockwork Golem from Diehard Miniatures. The base was 3D printed and apparently I didn't do a very good job with the supports. Looks okay in person, but boy does the photo show off the imperfections. Another fantastic miniature from Red Bard Games. Really happy with the NMM on this miniature from Stonehaven. I built a custom base using clay bricks and tried some new things. In general it turned out but, in retrospect I don't think the arch makes any sense. A set of three plague worms from Zabavka Workshop. The red one turned out great, I'm really happy with the eyes. The purple worm was kind of a disappointment, I'm not great at painting purple and the mouth was impossible to photograph well. The final worm reminded me of a flower so I tried to give it that effect. Very happy with how it turned out.

I've done so much painting in the last couple of years and I'm always too lazy to take pictures. Finally got around to it.... All Reaper Paints, all the time. For some reason I just love miniatures wearing packs. Awesome Snail from Monkstone Miniatures Copied this paint scheme from Kangaroorex (brilliant idea, sandy looking from the top, sky looking from the bottom). This is the Western Desert Dragon (03670) from Reaper. It looks like this is an old model and there were some problems with the mold. I had to cut the base apart to get it to lie flattish and the wings didn't fit quite right. Still a very cool model. Three demon toads from Rotten Factory. I'm really happy with how the shell turned out on this super creepy snail rider from Whilhelm Miniatures. Very cool miniature from Red Bard Games. I was really happy with the wheel tracks I made with green stuff, but I'm a little disappointed with the grass. I was aiming for patches of dead grass in the road, but I think I ended up with too much contrast between the grass colors. Next time I plan to mix the static grass to get more realistic variations. Three virus themed Beholders from Westfalia Miniatures Is that a halfling riding a giant goose? I don't know why, but it is awesome. Evening all! So my last little mini is a Stonehaven Miniatures Firbolg Druid (at least I think she's a druid) that was digitally sculpted by Mike Evans and is one of the miniatures available in the Kickstarter he's got going on right now. If you're into digital printing it might be worth having a look at his Kickstarter. Anyhoos, here she is, and I'm actually pretty glad at how she came out: Normally I don't take so many angles, but with her pose it seems to be worth it. I'm used to the traditional metal Stonehaven which are a little flat, almost always being a single piece of metal, and of course Ral Partha, so her very "unflat" pose made different angles seem worth it. This one also kind of makes me want to tackle the Bones V firbolgs, but will take a while to get around to them I'm guessing. I see a few little spots where I could improve, but overall ended up pretty satisfied with this one. And being she's a Firbolg, she was a larger figure, which probably made it a bit of a relaxing experience! Anyways, if you like Mike Evan's sculpts, go check out his Kickstarter he's running right now. I'm off for a week to go on vacation out in Colorado, but when I get back I'll probably grab another one of these 3D printed sculpts and work on it as well soon. Which another point, I'm going on vacation for a week. Wouldn't it almost be logical and most relaxing if I were to take paints and minis with me to just relax and paint in all the leisure time I'm going to have next week? Just have a feeling that my significant other wouldn't be too pleased with that idea. Maybe not painting for a week will do me some good, no idea.

So, working on things here and there, and here is the last mini that I just finished, a little Stonehaven halfling, a female druid. Cute little figure, pretty easy paint job once I was actually able to get moving on her. Druid, so natural colors, greens, browns, yellow, et cetera. Hopefully the photo isn't too dark: She had these little shoulder pads, that originally I thought armor, but then afterwards, I thought maybe wood shingles, like bark or something, but then thought it would be more visually pleasing if they were mushrooms. Hope they aren't too distracting. I was listening not too long ago about color theory and not having too much clashing colors and such, but sometimes, if it looks like a mushroom, you have to paint it like a mushroom! Anyhoos, hope everybody that went to Reapercon had a delightful time and were fully inspired to paint and keep painting!

This one is a halfling barbarian, who reminds me a little bit of the feral kid in Mad Max, don't have any idea what his name might have been, and a tad bit of that one Cha-Ka character in Land of the lost. I think it's just due to all the big hair this gal's got. anyhow without further ado here she is: and with the original drawings from the Kickstarter I think I kind of kept with a desert, browns and oranges color scheme. Anyhoos, enjoy!

Hi all you Reaper cats and kittens! So today a neat little figure, a Halfling Tiefling, from Stonehaven Miniatures, sculpted by their owner, Mike Evans. This one was released with their Kickstarter a few years back that was mostly dedicated to all sorts of interesting halfling models. I decided on white hair just to give some nice contrast to the pink skin, and then mostly purples and pinks mixed with reds and oranges. and then here, just for fun and a size comparison is a Reaper Tiefling I did a little while back, Fillyjonk. I kind of did some similar things color-wise, even though Fillyjonk's skin was more reddish to start out with and the little hobbit more pink. And after having painted both of these, I'm really looking forward to Bob Ridolfi's Kickstarter tieflings! Wondering what other colors I might use with them a year or so from now. So anyhoos, enjoy!

Long time no post but here's a tiny wizard

Butch "Killer" Davis (50094) is a beautiful clean sculpt, good and pulpy without being overdone. He also gave me an excuse to go ahead and complete a boxing/wrestling ring bit of terrain--it had been rattling around in my brain for some years. And now, with a box lid, some nails, some electrical tape, and a few bits of string, the dream has become reality. "I've earned my stripes, and the poor fool in the other corner's gonna be seeing stars!" I knew sculpting a side of beef ribs would be handy more than once. Good training. Click for a turnaround with Price the Trainer (originally a Groundskeeper from Artizan; I've gotten a lot of mileage out of this dude) Price's training style is...eccentric. (Hence the shovel.) Very big on the principle "prepare for everything." As such, he favors outlandish sparring partners with exotic styles. "Larry the Leprechaun," a vicious bareknuckle flyweight, for example. What if your opponent is hard to reach and nimble, a.k.a. 'the Oddjob Problem'? Or what if your opponent uses A CHAIR OH NOOOO! and employs the ropes in bizarre high-flying stunts? It's EL DIABLOOOOOOOOOO! (50035, last seen in the Weird West) Or how about a taller opponent with a bigger off-limit strike zone?! Think fast, Butch! It's La Mujer Increible! (50212, also seen previously) Managed that? Good start. Now let's put you up against a challenge. The brutish man-mountain Mister Hyde! (Modified Clay Golem, 02706)! Taller, stronger, bigger, meaner. In a world where an entire player race seems to have been mostly overlooked throughout the years, Stonehaven Miniatures created a Kickstarter that was oriented mostly for the fine folk, and made a bunch of different gnome characters, male and female, cast in metal. Here are two of them that I've recently finished, a Gnome Paladin and a Gnome Scout: These are some really small miniatures, and as I finally was able to photograph them I could see a few spots that I could probably improve upon them, but being that these are just for fun and enjoyable, I think I'm happy where I am with them. The hair on them is a little bit outside of the natural realm of color, not your typical blonde, black, brown or red. I sent an email to the sculptor Mike Evans and asked him how he imagined his gnomes, with natural color hair or more fantasy colors and he said bright colors, so I kind of followed that idea with these two. I still live in that past of the old D & D description which talked about them having skin the color or wood and either blonde or white hair, but I'm trying to move away from that pretty old concept. I've seen art for gnomes in other newer D&D books and they are certainly more vibrant than before Anyhoos, hope you enjoy them!

Good evening to all of you in the final week of the Kickstarter! Not at all related to Kickstartes, but once a part of one, this next miniature is a female Halfling Bard, sculpted by Mike Evans at Stonehaven Miniatures. This mini in itself was part of his Halfling Kickstarter, which created a hole bunch of different hobbits, guys and gals, with different professions and adventuring classes. and a close up of her face: Once again, no idea on the colors I wanted to use, so I basically just went for the skin, face and hair, and then had to start working on her attire, inside out, shirt first, later pants and then hat and armor. Ended up with this yellow, blue and pink pallet, which hopefully doesn't clash too much! Anyhoos, enjoy and put in your Kickstarter bids!

I am planning on running a Savage Worlds Tyrnador campaign. The campaign steals heavily from the new Pathfinder Savage World ruleset. My son created a hallfing commander and he chose the halfling with the torch from the Dungeon Dwellers set as his character. I modified the mini by adding a banner (after watching several tutorial videos). He selected a green 4-leaf clover on an orange background for the banner. Was a fun little project with some neat freehand. His friend created a dwarf ranger/smith as his character and choose the Stonehaven Mechanist (SKU 2795) to represent him:

When Stonehaven started doing their kickstarters, they usually released their version of a troll or two with each one. Since I liked the variety of elves, dwarves, and other smallfolk in the kickstarters i tended to get the completionist so i found myself with a bunch of these, even though resin is not my favorite medium to work with. I did a few and the rest sat... until i needed giants for my Runelord campaign. I needed hill giants and i dont like hill giants as depicted by the typical miniatures for them, but the trolls were cute and they fit the size i was looking for and the legend that hill giants have tails was born. Anyway, here are the latest 2, it brings my total now to 5 hill giant/trolls and one broccoli Ent. the party has faced 3 of them previously and it was a mixed success: they won, but they went looking for a place to heal and rest immediately afterwards! (come to think of it, Stonehaven makes up a rather large part of the party, the Kobold ninja, the grippli paladin, the half-orc barbarian and the dwarven cleric are also Stonehaven sculpts) anyway for your viewing pleasure:

In my first set of finished miniatures in 2021, a selection of heroes from Stonehaven Adventurers 2020 Kickstarter. They were primed at the end of 2020 after a end of year arrival, but painted over the last month or so. The whole of my finished ones: The Orcs: My favorite of the set. They showed her as concept art on Instagram about 3 projects ago, I'm glad to see her in physical form finally. The Goblins: I got a very Nott the Brave vibe from this one: A Kobold with some fancy gear: Some live some day in the way of the froggy guys: Tieflings: A Dragonborn Wizard: Some live some die in the way of this Hobgoblin Guy...wait I used that one already? Darn.

Some are only available as add-ons. The miniatures will be made in the USA. They will be cast in 100% lead free pewter (or polyurethane resin in the case of the dragon) and some assembly will be required. They will be sculpted on the standard 28 mm scale. Slotted round bases will be included with miniatures that are pictured on round bases. And now we present the Core Set: Pictured from top to bottom, left to right: Grippli Warrior, Grippli Samurai, Kobold Archer, Half-Dragon Wizard, Pygmy Lizardfolk Rogue Cold Blood Clan! Though they come from disparate backgrounds, these heroes have been bound together by cruel circumstance. Finding themselves aboard a prison vessel bound for the quicksilver mines, they combined their strengths, made their escape, and discovered that they weren't so different after all. (Add-on cost: $37) The Mushroom Folk have lived under the dark trees for as long as time has been counted. Mercurial creatures, they can change their form to best suit the needs of the coming day. Although many will prefer to maintain a single form, others will change form each night: from simple form to warrior form, or from spore form to mage form. Each form has its strengths and drawbacks. The Mushroom Folk have interchangeable parts and can be assembled into thousands of different combinations. This dragon is big! It measures 105mm across and will be cast in polyurethane resin. The wings come unattached. (Add-on cost: $25) As we hit these stretch goals, more miniatures will be added to the Core Set, Mushroom Set, and/or made available as add-ons! First up: When we reach $12,000, Cyragnome the gnomish swashbuckler will be added to the Core Set. He will also be available as a $4 add-on. Cyragnome is a fearless fighter with a flair for the dramatic. Many a bandit has had his knees bloodied by Cyragnome's flashing blade! When we reach $14,500 the Male Goblin Warrior will be unlocked and added to the Otker and the Mob adventuring party in the Core Set. He will also be available as a $4 add-on. Goblin warriors are fearless in battle. Often facing much larger foes, they often triumph through a combination of lucky crits and really bad attack rolls from lvl 1 adventurers! When we reach $17,000 the Female Goblin Ranger will be unlocked and added to the Otker and the Mob adventuring party in the Core Set. She will also be available as a $4 add-on. Ricochet the goblin ranger got her nickname by bouncing a bolt off a guard's shield and into another guard's exposed back. Once these goals are reached, we will introduce new ones! Wow! I painted this guy up for D&D to be my Warlock. Sadly it may be some time before he fills that role again. Photos still look a bit washed out. :( The Base should look like floorboards and they do in person.

I've had this one in the works for a while. She's a little more cheerful and Art Noveau than most of the rest of my Miskatonic staff, but that's okay! Misk.U. cultivates eccentrics of all types. She seems to be handling the job just fine. And those pointed ears indicate she's already survived a brush with chaos, or perhaps has a little bit of eldritch in her. Her colleagues are a Stonehaven halfling librarian and a Black Cat librarian/cultist. Gave them both a minor touch-up for this shoot.

"Fond of bright colors, chiefly green and yellow," as Tolkien described his hobbits. Stonehaven does some incredibly character-rich sculpts, and this is one such. This lady is full of vim, vigor, optimism, and a can-do attitude! I imagine her as maybe the irrepressible kid sister of a grown adventurer, who has heard stories of adventure and wants to be a part of things. (Big sister played by Daschelle, 44009 )

Once, there was an artificer. A half-orc, a genius. He could make creatures of metal and wheels that seemed as alive as any man. His clockwork marvels were the talk of the province, and when an accident in his workshop took his arm off, he built a new arm of girders and cogs, stronger and more dexterous than before. (More of this fellow if you click:) His fame spread far and wide, and one day a wealthy man, a captain of industry, another half-orc, asked him to build a weapon. He had many enemies--competitors, bandits, robbers--and also many people he wished to treat as enemies--unionists, agitators, and the like. "What kind of weapon," the artificer asked. "The unanswerable kind" his patron replied. "Inexorable. Supreme." The rich man had a vision, which the artificer was happy to share, and huge sacks of cash money, which the artificer was also happy to partake of, having very little of the same, and a strong if wildly degaussed moral compass, which the artificer did not have at all. And so the artificer consulted with other specialists, gnomish engineering savants and goblin pyro-sages (who also partook of the fat sacks of cash) to design this Ultimate Countermeasure. It took a year and a day (and, some say, more than one apprentice) but at length the work was done. A steam-belching, boiler-powered fire-breathing dreadnought, an apex predator in steel and brass. The patron was pleased. More: It is said that the Engine of Malice produced had the strength of a team of elephants, and a breath like a blast furnace. It is also said that its brazen talons broke the Bloodgutter Strike a generation ago, and that this is why your parents cut their sausage with knife and fork, because the Butchers' Guild doesn't waste anything and you really don't want to break your teeth on a brass button. It is also said that the Emperor conscripted the Engine to fight the foreign enemy during the Cruel Wars, as it was impervious to the miasmas and poison gases, and could roast whole squadrons in their trenches. It is, notably, NOT said what happened the day it slipped a gear and went berserk. There were very few surviving eyewitnesses and none of them want to talk about it. Questions on this topic remain unanswerable. The Weapon remains at large. (I love the huge wings on this sculpt, but I'll never be able to compete with some of the canvasses other, better, painters have made of them. Also they are very rigid, so I removed them for future projects and took some pinewood derby exhaust pipes I found on clearance, some aluminium fencing wire, and a few eyelets. Gluing them on wasn't the easiest, and I used plenty of baking soda. This wound up looking like horrible overdone welds, but that's all right in context.)

So the ex is going to be joining a new campaign, and she asked me to paint her figure, the Stonehaven female gnome rogue.... Still just starting, but need to motivate myself, as well as keeping track of colors.... Scalera is Reaper Linen White Pupil Warcolours Green 3 Skin SC 75 Arabic shade... Check back as more gets done!

My Weird West campaign included the town of Lovelace, a steampunk bastion of order run by a Babbage engine of limited omniscience. Several of the citizens were clockwork-and-punchtape automata. Meet Citizen Rustbuckets, one of the oldest inhabitants! I love Stonehaven sculpts almost as much as I hate paying for them. Look at that benign goggle-eyed face and its genial steam-shovel underbite! He's here next to HLPr-bot, featured previously. And here's Marshall Crusher, the very long steam-powered arm of the law. I tried to make it look like he's got a boiler in there. Here's a sampling of the human and automaton population (in two shots because focus is hard).
