Greetings forum things! Once again, I, the Griffin of Grumpiness snag the tattered robe of the Quisitor in my beak for this the ninth month of Old Rome's calendar and also the month all Turkeys Dread! Question for Thursday, Nov 1st: Halloween is behind us, how long will you tolerate the decorations thereof? When do yours (if you had some) get stowed away for next year?

Step 0 Penny ^ ...New model in blister. ^ This guy is big enough to take up the footprint of four infantry skeletons. The penny is 19mm diameter. The plan is to give the figure a 40mm square, equivalent to four 20x20 bases arranged in a square. He will count as four members of the unit he'll be assigned to.

OSL 77364 Angel of Shadows - OSL attempt - Pendrake
TGP posted a topic in Works in Progress: Painting
This is Talespinner's fault. And also OneBoot's idea. (In another thread Talespinner challenged people to try something that was new —to them— and then Oneboot mentioned OSL and this specific model.) So, I acquired one 77364 on Saturday. Then I headed into the paint area to make a start. At that point "a idea flew into my funnel" after I spotted newish bottles of Blue Liner and Black Primer. These paints got mixed... ...FOR SCIENCE!™ The other part of the idea was to prime the mini with this inky dark mixture (roughly 50/50 Blue Liner/Black Primer**) where the lantern light could not reach. I Probably worked too fast. I am thinking the back of her head should be all inky as well. The pizza happened later. **That made a nice rich black. Next: there will be a sword swap. -

I started this little guy on a Saturday. At a paint day. At a certain factory... This is where he got to in about 4 hours worth of work. Need to finish the sword. The lad at the factory store went in the back and dug through bins to find one with a nice, straight, unbent sword. So, I figured this one ought to be left stock and unconverted.

I tried posting these images in Dilvishes' thread, but the links don't necessarily work. Therefore, try, try again. There is this material called "Cracked Ice". It is not ice at all. It is plastic. It is meant for use in 2x4 foot flourescent recessed light fixtures. It is the diffuser panel. But, some blue and white craft paint + a little re-imagineeriing (aka Frogccidental thinking) and semi-frozen water hazards appeared: The material is only about 2mm thick. But it looks like it could be deeper when viewed from above. These were created before Frostgrave® was written. But they could be useful as ponds for the setting.

For August the Format will be a question a day including weekends. Rules as they have evolved 1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. 2. You each have a 24 hours span to answer that question before the next question is posted. 3. After I post the next question, you can answer one or two previous questions. 4. Only the Questioner may post questions, but you may (and are encouraged to) submit questions to be posted via a PM. 5. You do not have to answer every question, their is no penalty for skipping one. Either simply wait for the next question or post that you decline to answer (why would be nice). 6. Questions will run each day as I have plenty of material. ______________________________________________ 7. "New" for August: In the spirit of summer re-runs some questions will be labeled RVQ for ReVisited Question. These will sometimes a be new take on previous question topics. and not necessarily questions repeated verbatim. 8, On all RVQ questions there are three implied bonus questions: what did you answer previously, has that answer changed and can you find a link to the relevant post in the old and now locked question thread. 9. There will be some questions this month that use pictures. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions in the July thread. Question 1 is a follow-on from July 30 and also an RVQ.

Three Bowmen and a Bow Lizard These guys have been sitting around primed for years. They got grabbed up on Saturday the 31st for a quick speed paint to qualify for the Resolutionary Painting Challenge. This morning they were all white primer. Here are a pair of pictures: All of these archer models were included in the 5th edition boxed set for Warhammer Fantasy. I probably got these specific models on sale or with an wBay auction. I did not prime them—somebody beat me to it. The little guy is a Skink. The smallest type of lizard in the Lizardmen army. The three identical archers are one of two poses of Bretonnian archers that came with the set. If I had been clever I could have made a list of colors used. Comments and suggestions are in order.

Dexterity It is one of the core stats for old D&D. It covers juggling ability, sleight-of-hand, reflexes, lock picking, speed, agility, dodging, all things to do with speed and motion even aiming. But I got to thinking about it and I wondered why all those things were automatically lumped together. 17 Dex That is a high score: Consider a Tree-Sloth: it is incredibly agile - 17 makes sense; its hands (and feet!) display tremendous dexterity - 17, sure; but is if fast? no, it should get a 4-5 Dex when considering its speed. Consider a Gnomish Clockmaker: very, very, good with his hands - 17 makes sense; but only average agility (10 Dex?); not very fast with the short legs (7 Dex?); might be a deadly shot with a clockwork crossbow - back to 17 for aiming again. Human Acrobats - could easily be good at juggling, sleight-of-hand, reflexes, tumbling, agility, dodging; but might not run so fast or be any good with fiddly tasks wanting fine motor skill like picking locks or adjusting clocks. :upside: _______________ Has anybody else run into this sort of conundrum or made adjustments to the rules of their RPG to address this kind of thing?

I shot 30 or 40 images during ReaperCon (there were some terrain related pix shot before I got to the con). Imageshack is giving me fits. I will try to get a proper link to the whole folder if I can ever figure out how. (I used to be able to do this a year ago.. ..but they upgraded, curse them.) Check back later for a working link to ImageShack here. For now I will try linking a shot or two four taken in the contest exhibits area: Fire Giantess by Michelle Blastenbrei The Road to Mordheim by Aaron Lovejoy Morhvana in the Fall by Mary Profitt And lastly: Primeval Princess by Cliff Rockwell http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img841/1840/fnn6.jpg Linked for near-nudity and because ReaperBryan advised me to link it rather than post it when I snapped it. (NSFW if most things Frazetta Boris Vallejo are NSFW at your work.)

In a different thread Vince put out a call for terrain assistance the night before ReaperCon. He needed a big hill. (A table was planned that called for a graveyard on a hill.) A link to that thread. I saw the thread and a few PMs and text messages later it was determined that there was a hill hiding in my rather disheveled workshop room that might do. It looked like this: It was an unfinished slab of pink foam (the top had a basecoat on it). This shot was originally sent via phones to [give] Vince an idea of how big it was. That is a Storm Giant from the KS 1 batch along with a paint bottle for scale (I lack a copy of Sir Forscale).
