I am running Out of the Abyss for my table and we are coming up to the Hook Horrors Lair! I am after 2 Hook horrors, any one got any suggestions?

It’s a table top figure for our weekly game. The monochromatic nature of the armor was hard on the eyes and made me want to rush a little. Fun to paint. Slowly getting better brush control. Need more practice with layering and highlighting. Advice and comments welcome ... of course I notice a smudge on the back of the right foot as soon as I posted

Started this one years ago it seems. The campaign outpaced my time for painting, finished it tonight along with another, but felt like I hurried this one just to get it done.

Stormtroopers, Imperial Assault, Fantasy Flight Games
Darcstaar posted a topic in Show Off: Painting
Hi everyone. In an attempt to put some non Bones 3 items on the forums, I present some Storm Troopers. It's been a while since I've posted my own pics. I've been working diligently for the last 15 months trying to finish the first set of Imperial Assault miniatures. I'd previously posted my Probe Droids and Imperial Officers. Below are my Storm Troopers. I did follow the Sorastro guides. If anyone doesn't know about those, it is a well produced set of You Tube videos worth checking out. These storm troopers almost killed the desire to do the whole project. I have been using almost exclusively Reaper paint, despite the tutorials using GW paint. This means I sprayed the troopers with white primer, then slathered on a bunch of Reaper Black Wash. It took 3-6 layers of paint to get them reasonably white. You can't tell too much in the pics, but there are areas which were left less white in shadowed areas like under the calf. By the time I was happy with them, I didn't want to add any battle damage or dirty feet, but I did it anyway in the spirit of following the tutorial. I think the gloss coat really makes these fit the full nostalgic effect. Let me know what you think. -
To continue my Imperial Assault posts, here is the figure I photographed that had the best light. I'll have to re-take pictures of everyone else. Fenn Signis is a sniper hero in the game. I did follow the Sorastro Guides, but with Reaper paints. The hardest part of this figure was trying to paint in purple sunglasses, when they are not part of the sculpt. Oh, that and BLACK! The pic is a little out of focus on that one, because the camera chose to put the tip of the gun in best focus there. I was happy with how the rebel insignia on his shoulder came out. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Nothing too exciting, just yet another example of my tabletop painting. har har har... Sorry couldn't resist. But these were actually really quick. (I had remembered my wood formula by then. Of course I yet again didn't write it down, cause I always think, "I'll remember." )

Armoured Skeletons (FGV314) by North Star Part of the Thaw of the Lich Lord campaign for FROSTGRAVE Table Top Quality _________________________________________________________________ Your intrepid warband marches confidently on the outskirts of the frozen city. After a long campaign clearing out the area your brave band of soldiers are ready to pursue deeper in to the white laden ruins. The cold wind, although bitter, has become manageable for your warband. Swiftly the winds begin to rush in from the inner part of the frozen Acropolis, deathly cold. Visibility is no more than twenty to thirty feet in front. Ahead you can see the white and grey haze of snow concealing the ruins. Your captain shouts, "halt" as the warband freezes in it's tracks. A slight sound of creaking then the dull murmur of metal sliding across stone and ice. The sound echos through the winds shaking your men to their cores. Slowly but suddenly a troop of skeletons flanked by two heavily armoured skeletons appear in the distance. It's just as you feared... _________________________________________________________________ -=The idea was to make them look like they are slowly marching out of the snow blind. It's so cold snow is sticking to them. =- -= The snow flocking turned out better than I expected. I copied the techniques of some fellow Frostgrave players here on the forums and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Although with these it's hard to see but some other Frostgrave miniatures (which you'll see later) It turned out excellently. =- -=This has been an entire painting season for me. LOTS of wargaming stuff and it is all finished around now. I hope you guys like it.=-

I love to whittle away the hours....painting, sculpting and finishing up with basing.... But I've, on occasion, bought a huge game with many many figures....and I want to actually finish painting the figures - seal and organize, maybe even play? But, I can't stop fidgeting with them.... One game I've sorta almost finished, but now I look at all the figures (still have to base most)- and I want to start touch- ups on more than half! The second is Arcadia Quest, which I've kinda started. Made myself a promise that I would do base colour, 1 hilight, and then a wash for shadows. Retouch hilight for metals and be DONE! Nope...started the repainting last night ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‡ Guess I'll just give up on gaming...and just keep painting! So, how do others cope?

After many many years of being a (GM/DM) for RPG adventure groups (with some great groups and wonderful memories)...I retired as an active (DM) last November, thinking that it was time for younger brains and blood to tell the stories and weave the fantasies for avid fantasy players! Since my retirement...I have been besieged by former past players and the new friends they have made...to come out of retirement and conduct at least one more RPG adventure story and fantasy game! Well...I am back in the fold!...After our apartment move is completed and things are back to normal...I have agreed to the wishes of the players and will conduct another RPG adventure game. The game/story will be a horrific adventure that not many of the group may survive! They will leave the standard/common foes and enemies behind and face epic foes like giant monoliths (that use laser beam attacks) and giant stone guardians that can vanquish dragons with their lethal blades/swords in just a couple of attacks! To my great surprise...the group was not turned off by the above dire facts...in fact, they seemed to gain great enthusiasm with/at the idea of the great challenges that they will face and encounter...each player thinking that the others may/will die, but that they will survive! The game will be titled " The Tears & Sorrows of Oblivion "...It will be a campaign game with around (24 game sittings)...playing twice a month! The group is an " adults only " group (as were most of my RPG games of the past)...there will be (10) already accepted/established players who will be playing the following fantasy characters; 1. Valina Trax (female)...(Daedra Assassin in human form)... 2. Nina Darkness (female)...(Imperial Thief/Courtesan)... 3. Jar Corbin (male)...(Imperial Duelist/Bounty Killer)... 4. Sister Sinn (female)...(Imperial Battle Nun/Healer)... 5. Jean Fable (male)...(Imperial Elf Ranger/Pathfinder)... 6. Max Von Dane (male)...(Imperial Necromancer & Skeleton friend " Blade ")... 7. Shadow Veil (female)...(Altmer Wardancer)... 8. Enigma Dreamer (female)...(Imperial Summoner/Spell Binder)... 9. Lido Von Wolf (male)...(Imperial Knight Templar)... 10. Volgar (male)...(Nordic Venerable Dwarf Lord)... The gaming figures are done to table top game play quality and are sealed with (3) coats of hard gloss coat (for heavy game play usage)! The figures will be posted in the Show Off thread for your viewing! Paul (Catdancer)

so this is a bit of a test piece to work with blending, I didn't have a lot of time as I needed it ready to go for game today as it's for one of my players so it's a bit on the rough side. http://www.flickr.com/photos/78059741@N08/8270842944/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/78059741@N08/8269775469/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/78059741@N08/8270842242/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/78059741@N08/8269775979/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/78059741@N08/8269774169/'>
