  1. Good evening my Reaperlangarians! So it feels like I haven't been too productive this year, got kind of stuck on painting Lord Soth, which seemed to take longer than it should have, but now that he's painted up, it's onwards to other little projects. These two I actually finished last weekend, but I always take pictures with sunny weather, but it's been cloudy all week long until today. The only time it was sunny was last Sunday when I got up, went grocery shopping really quickly to Aldis and when I got home, saw the sun. I went into the shower really quickly to clean up and then I was going to take pictures of these ladies, but by the time I got out and dried off it was cloudy again. So anyhoos, pictures finally taken and here they are, the first is a Female Dwarven Warrior, not too sure who sculpted her: and the next one is Kylie Darkwalker, a Wild Elf Thief, sculptor also unknown: I like both figures, both pretty fun. I like them especially because they are Ral Partha/Iron Wind Metals figures, but I think sculpted much later in the company's history. I'm guessing latter nineties, but no way to be sure without asking. I'm a bit puzzled by my choice of colors for the elf. I figured wild elf, and though kind of woodsy elf, with brown skin (base code was Reaper's shield brown), and her top is green, but then she has those funky purple pants. She kind of reminds me if I harken back to the days of an old Olivia Newton John video, Let's Get Physical, or something like that where she has a green top and I think pinky/purply spandex pants. I actually just went to look at a picture and my memory was a bit faulty, it was a bright blue top and pink sweatpants. In any case, hope these provide moments of visual pleasure and simulation, until the next chunk of minis!
  2. Hello All, Here are photos of a Dark Heaven Bones 77224 "Rogan, Half Orc Thief/Rogue" I completed a few days ago. His victim already gave up his coin pouch. What else does Rogan want? Thank you for looking.
  3. Good evening all and happy new year! First finished miniature of the year, a Ral Partha thief with sword and dagger. These photos might be a little dark, so apologies for that, but here he is, probably sculpted some time back in the eighties if I'm not mistaken: The only part I really didn't like was how the dagger came out in front. The back cam out just fine, but the front of the dagger was a bit bumpy and odd. Anyhoos, here is it, enjoy and Happy Slappy New Year to everybody!
  4. Hello All, Here is a 02796 Dark Heaven Legends "Ilsa Darkstep, Thief" I completed a few weeks ago. Thank you for looking.
  5. Hello All, Here is a 77118 Reaper Dark Heaven Bones "Tiviel, Hellborn Rogue" I completed recently. I did add the ponytail to this miniature. The ponytail is from a Chaos Space Marine helmet. Thank you for looking.
  6. Happy weekend to all! So this figure I'd painted I don't know how many years ago, and over the last years or two wanted to paint her again because I felt I could do a better job on her with years of experience behind me. So here is the updated version of this figure with different colors and hopefully better highlights and shadow, different color selection, and with this on I really didn't do much more than a green stuff flattish base because the figure itself is so small that when you start putting stuff in front and behind it covers up that ground level detail, you hide the hands for example. Also with this newer version I think I found things that I didn't notice in the first figure, I think two rings on her hands and in the shoes, she actually had some open space where skin was exposed that I didn't notice the first time. I have to say that both of these versions were horribly difficult to photograph so don't know how well they came out, she's small and has some odd angles to photograph. Anyhoos, here's the newest updated version: And here's the original version that I'm guessing I painted I don't know how long ago, maybe ten years earlier? She's kind of a weird figure too, because assuming she has that chainmail under her shirt and then over her pants, it kind of makes me wonder how well that was actually thought out or how it would work, but equally it's not actually chainmail, but just some fabric and I've been perceiving it erroneously as chain mail all these years. Anyhoo, which version do you like better? Let me know what you think!
  7. She's officially called the "Proprietress Wizard," but I get more of a rogue/thief vibe from her. I like the model, overall, but I wish her head wasn't so tiny.
  8. I see this guy as a sleazy, unsavory type who somehow manages to get himself invited to all the nicest social events (whereupon he spends the evening quietly picking people's pockets clean). Not sure if it's visible, but I went for some subtle striping in the fur.
  9. I am Working on my Adventuring kids. I liked the idea of having these Minis for my Kids. Currently it is the thief. Well, my Girls dont like thieves so much, so it will be more something else. We will see. I startet with some green. Looked a little scary.
  10. One last figure from October, this was one of those 3 color challenges using pink, blue and yellow, IIRC. Black and white were also allowed.
  11. Merisiel, Iconic Rogue. The original artwork is very good but this is one of the early Bones models that did not translate well to the medium. She flops over, the weapons did not come out well, and much of her detail is guesswork. I even had to sculpt her a nose because she didn't come with one. I tried to follow the artwork more or less, but it wasn't worth the effort to spend too much time on her.
  12. This was a fun and easy paint job. He comes with a variety of arms and weapon options so you can customize the figure. (and the extra arms are nice for conversions)
  13. The last of my player characters I painted up for Frostrun is Ophelia Pokitz, a young halfling with sticky fingers. They're represented here by Bailey Silverbell. Ophelia was a fun mini as well. Was my first time painting a humanoid with large facial features, which made it a lot easier to bring definition to the nose, lips, and eyes. I think I even hit the cheeks with a bit of blush. I also had fun trying to make their cloak look like it was made of fur. The result is acceptable, but might also just look snow covered. You can be the judge. I also enjoyed painting a rogue that was both colorful, but subdued. The dark greens and magentas add some much needed life to the otherwise dark mini, in my opinion. More Photos beneath the spoiler: Ophelia Pokitz is what you would call a troubled teen. Orphaned at a young age, Ophelia spent much of their childhood passing from orphanage to orphanage, always finding a way to get kicked out. They eventually left the system and struck out on their own, traveling to some of the larger cities in search of a better life. Over the years, Ophelia has learned to use their small size and tiny hands to "reposes" any valuables that aren't bolted down. This habit has put them on a wanted list in many towns across the countryside. Pushed further north, Ophelia has found themselves in the town of Harpy's Hearth. Ignorant of their southern reputation, and full of gold-carrying adventurers, this could be a great place for Ophelia to catch a break and line their own pockets. It could also be a great place to find a new family. If they can survive the darkness to come. Read their story and check out the rest of the Frostrun project HERE.
  14. Hello guys and gals! so this is the first figure I ever painted, even though these aren't that version. The first version, which is actually the one you see below that was painted first years ago, is actually the original stripped version that I would have painted when is was probably about twelve. The original one was painted in model enamel colors, with pink skin, yellow hair and shirts, green paints and I think grey cloak. I ended up getting back into minis again way back and stripped him before I knew about EBay and was able to get a second copy. So here's the one I just finished painted a few nights ago: and here's the one I painted I think in about 2004: and here they are together: So anyways, just thought it would be fun to post, now I'm off to go make some organic pancakes for breakfast! Enjoy!
  15. Finally I took some time to finish some Bones figures. I hope you like it,
  16. So here is my latest foray into the past, a miniature that I've had for years and years and years and in a burst of inspiration finally got around to painting her. I've got a few other Citadel minis on my desk to as well that I hope to get to little by little. So she had a squished nose, so I had to rebuilt it with a bit of green stuff, but otherwise, she's the same mini that I've had lying around since the eighties: Hope you enjoy, more to come!
  17. One of a set of 4 thieves that came from Ral Partha many years ago 1 i panted long ago, 1 i lost, 1 still needs to be painted, and them there is this guy. was a fun paint but man those small eyes on old figures
  18. Hello all! So I just finished working on this little thief, from Ral Partha's male and female range later on, maybe in the end of the eighties/beginning of the nineties, not so sure. I'm working on the male version, but that probably won't be finished for a few days. So used Reaper's Olive Skin as her base/mid-tone color, just in case anybody's curious. I think this was sculpted by Jeff Grace. Pretty simple miniature to paint. The one stickler was all her studs. Anyhows, hope you all enjoy!
  19. A couple more of my recent tabletop paints. Female on the left in gold and red came out of Bones 4. She is in a leaning pose. The one on the right is Deladrin, female assassin, roughly painted as a catfolk rogue. Both figures were done with a traditional basecoat, drybrush and wash/ink technique. I did some NMM for the swords.
  20. Following the conclusion of Storm King's Thunder, our group has started The Curse of Strahd, and I decided to play a thief. Going through my collection of minis, the River Widow mini from ReaperCon called out to me. As usual, after cleaning the few bits of flash and mold lines, I paused... How did I want to base her. I've made extensive use of the Ruined Temple Courtyard stamp from Happy Seppuku... but for this game I decided that I was going to use the Fishscale brick pattern which I'd picked up during their Black Friday sale. I clipped the tab connecting her feet, leaving only 2 spikes from each foot to anchor her into the greenstuff. Once the greenstuff had cured, I glued her in place, and after waiting for the superglue to dry, I primed her with Reaper's Brown Liner. I then immediately tackled her eyes, trying to mirror what Derek did on his. Seriously check this out, it's amazing... So... I didn't quite achieve this, but it's probably the closest I've ever managed. Also I don't have a camera (or the skill) to capture a pic of this quality. I basecoated her flesh with Ruddy Flesh, and then used Tanned Shadow on top of that. The bodice is based with Rich Indigo with Burgundy Wine over it. Her hair and lips are Auburn Shadow. So far, so good, but I've got a lot more work to go.
  21. Enjoy another rendition of 01608: Reaper 25th Anniversary - Diva the Blessed. Part of the Autumn palette series with NMM, Texture, and Effects. I know it's a great sculpt when I want to paint it again. Enjoy!
  22. Meet Ernie Baggage! Leader of the Red Cloaks: a mercenary band who travel from town to town seeking adventure and glory! Or they are just murder hobos. Time will tell. The 07004: Dungeon Dwellers: Stitch Thimbletoe, Halfling Thief painted in Autumn palette with NMM and Texture/Freehand. Even comes with the chest of gold! Keep both eyes on this guy.
  23. Back in the early 80’s, Grenadier put out a few “learn to paint” type mini kits, much like the few Reaper has done. They were called Action Art and came with 11 or so minis each. This guy is from one such set. I’ve painted him as recommended in the “Action Art Painting Guide.” He is small, even for the early days of 25mm sculpts. So he’s shrimpy, yet buff. Enjoy.
  24. I need to get onto some Reaper figures I think but in the meantime here is a thief from North Star for Frostgrave. Black gloves and boots, London Grey cloak, Royal purple accents. Then an Army Painter black/ "dark tone" wash over everything except the skin, which was strong tone. Base is green stuff on a washer, made using the Greenstuff World cobblestone roller. Again once you get the hang of it and follow their videos on YouTube these come out very well and saves me from my usual problem of not doing enough on the bases. Am going to have some open ruins but wanted something with lots of cover, but the risk of becoming a trap.
  25. Here's another post. Hellakin languished on my shelf of shame for about 5 years. He was intended as an entry into a forum contest for painting "little people." Life got in the way. I recently decided to finish him, in a little bit of a rushed fashion. He sat and sat at the basecoat stage. I struggled with figuring out how to do his cloak black. I am not too happy with it. It reads dark blue, as I'm trying to paint black without cycling up through gray, as you'll see here: I'm more pleased with the gold nmm on the knife than the steel. But, I tried to really suggest he's in a dark area by the shadowed part of the blade remaining nearly black. Here are some more shots of him. I'm pretty pleased with the hair color and face: He's got a very intense stare. The eyebrows didn't please me very much. The base is a "hollow" round base with a circle of cobblestone patterned sheet styrene from a model railroad supply hobby shop that I painted up to give him a feeling of being in a dungeon. If I wanted to spend more time on him, I'd paint his toenails and fiddle more with the knife. I originally had a thought to try to paint shadows and light on the base to make it seem like he's sneaking up on someone to backstab from the shadows. I gave up on that ;) Overall, he fills a missing niche among my painted figures of an iconic halfling rogue. C&C Welcome.
