  1. So after working lots on Ral Partha Chaos Wars drwarves, here is something a little bit different. Still very old school, from an old Partha line, Royal Armies of the Hyborean Age, a female thief, really simple sculpt from Dennis Mize, a front and back angle, nice figure, sculpted it looks like in 1979. Enjoy!
  2. This is another honorary Old School mini, an Ironwind Metals casting of the old (dated 1982) Ral Partha "Female Thief With Dagger II", catalogue #DF-122 in both cases. She was one of the earliest minis I actually owned, so getting another copy of her meant something special to me. The original WIP thread is here, but I did most of the work on her during the Memorial Day Paint Binge last weekend.
  3. Finished up this mini today. An old Ral Partha mini I got a while ago in a set of three. I didn't like the weapon, so I swapped it out for a Space Marine Knife. At the 25mm scale it looks like a short sword on this mini. Then he sat for a while. So I decided to paint him up as a scout more than a thief. I decided to continue to work on sculpted rock basing (my second attempt). Then I put down some greenery and called him finished. Thanks for looking and any C&C you feel like giving.
  4. I love the look of this classic thief. Sack of treasure, sneaking along, cliché mustache. Big fan.
  5. This is another piece of Old School lead from the Box O' Goodwill, Ral Partha's"Elf Thief", 01-319B, circa. 1986. It was sculpted by Tom Meier. For a time Ral Partha had sets of adventurers at three stages in their career: Starting out, mid-level, and high-level. This is the middle figure of the male elf thief set (01-319). Original WIP here. The elf was finished in a speedpaint over the Memorial Day Weekend paint binge.
  6. I painted up Dub here to be a thief for Frostgrave. One of the main things I wanted to do was get the cloak reading as black rather than grey, so I'd love to get people's feedback on it. You may have noticed that he's looking a little bloodied, but that's because of the big honkin' mould line running down the middle of his face. I mentioned to my wife that it made him look like he'd been punched in the face, which got me thinking - why not run with it? So I glazed his face with magenta and smeared some Tamiya clear red over the offending area. Feel free to let
  7. Over the weekend I finished up Ingrid, Female Gnome from the Bones 1 Kickstarter's Half-Sized Heroes set. I pulled her out of the pile because I wanted to get another Thief figure painted up for Frostgrave. I didn't realize she was a Gnome when I selected her, so I painted her up as a Halfling. I thought the object in her hand, from the way she is holding it extended, looked like it was supposed to be some sort of magic light source; like the Phial of Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings. So, I had to have a nice debate with myself as to whether I was going to attempt serious Object
  8. Looks like I forgot to post this little beauty from the year-end Conga Line of Doom. This is Julie Guthrie's Valloa, Elf Thief, SKU 03566 from Reaper. Something happened to my original set of photos. These were taken after she was varnished and she is a little satin-finished, making it a little harder to see the painted shiny leather effects. I really like this figure.
  9. I dub thee Beard Thief. Painted this guy up for a friend for a Stormbringer Campaign. First edition! Anyone ever play that? Before my time but someone ran it when I was a teenager and I loved it!
  10. just a quick wip - still doing basecoating. Working out my colour scheme. I'm going to try to do the wizard's staff more like an icicle, we'll see how that goes lol
  11. Hello, I used to paint Games Workshop miniatures when I was a kid, but was put off for many years by the price. Having found out about Reaper recently I decided to get back into it. I picked up the Learn to Paint Kit, a few extra Reaper miniatures and some extra paints/brushes. The valkyrie I have attached was my first attempt after a long break, and now I am getting onto the mouslings. I am having some difficulties though. I would love to hear any feedback on these difficulties I list or any other criticism or advice. With the valkyrie there are some parts I am quite happy with. Her r
  12. I want sure about this sculpt, I was painting it for a friend and it was not until I primed it that I realized it had some awesome detail and a great pose. As always fire away.
  13. This week I finished a quick tabletop job on the Female Elf Rogue from the Dragons Don't Share Set (Does she have a name?) I plan to use her in one of my Frostgrave Warbands. C and C welcome.
  14. This figure was sculpted for Grenadier in 1991 by Julie Guthrie. If I remember correctly, he's a thief, but I think he'd also work well as a pirate, although he's based in a rather non-nautical fashion. I tried something different when I did his skin, how do you think it looks? He's done to table top level; C&C is welcome.
  15. This is an old Grenadier figure I've had hanging around on my shelf of shame for ever. I don't know if I stopped liking the sculpt as mush as I did when I first got it, or my paint scheme was lousy, or what, but he's been about 75% painted for about 12 years. I pulled him down and decided to finish him up yesterday. I touched up a few things about his old paint job, finished him off and based him. It's only done to table top levels, but at least he's (finally) done.
  16. Hey there Reaper pips! Just finished painting a dual wielding rouge/thief. Critiques to help me improve are most welcome. Thanks in advance.
  17. This is the mouseling assassin that goes with the mouseling thief I painted earlier. I didn't want to go with a plain black cloak. I wanted it to look like red velvet. It does not look like red velvet but I like it anyway. He is a little albino mouse with beady little red eyes. His base is warped a bit and he doesn't want to stand straight so he will be glued to another base.
  18. When I went to paint day the other day, I didn't want to take any of the minis I need to do for my campaign because I paint with my gaming friends and don't want them to know what to expect. So, I decided to paint some mouselings. They are so cute! These are the first two I have done of the Bones II mouselings. I picked the female archer and the little thief. I borrowed from Pingo when doing the little thief and had his dagger be a rose thorn. Is it appropriate that I "stole" her idea while doing the thief? Ha! Hope you don't mind, Pingo. It was such a clever idea and I thought it was
  19. This is a new Mousling thief from the Bones II Kickstarter. I've painted up six different Mouslings for a campaign. WIP thread here. Other painted Mouslings in the set: Beekeeper, Assassin, Ranger With Bow, Yeoman (Robin Hood), Druid
  20. This is a little assassin Mousling, the second of six Mouslings I've painted for a seriously multispecies campaign. WIP thread here. Other Mouslings in this group: A Yeoman, A Ranger, A Thief, A Beekeeper-Falconer, and A Druid
  21. So I'm painting up some of the Bones II Mouslings to be used as ship's crew and NPCs in a fairly weird game. These aren't all of them. There's also a mouse king and queen (with pointy hat with veil), a samurai, and a classic wizard, all nice but not quite for my purposes. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the buxom little "girl" mice. I prefer to think of all Mouslings as something you'd have to be a mouse to tell the difference, like in real life. But gosh, they are cute. At the moment I am referencing real mice for coloring. One Mousling is going to be black, one whit
  22. Hi ! A really quick paint for my roleplay collection. It's my pathfinder character :)
  23. HI all! I'm just getting round to posting some photos from ages ago. C&C welcome.
  24. As those keeping score at home surely must know by now, I loooove Sandra Garrity's work. Elia Shadowfeet, Female Halfling Thief, is a fantastic mini, innit? I was pretty happy with how mine turned out, here. Thanks for looking.
  25. Here is Eskin, painted up to represent my character in Wandering Through the Forgotten Realms, Jared, a THIEF. The lighting isn't fantastic. As always, C & C welcome!
