So what do you all use for thinning your paint? I am using reaper paints and have been told by some of you all that I need to thin out my paints. I have tried adding water(distilled) but the pigment doesn't seem to stick together. I have been doing a 50/50 mix. Is this the ratio? Do I need flow Aid? Or acrylic matte medium? Or Slow-dri? If so what formula do you use? I know it's a lot of questions sorry just looking to get better at my painting.Thank you all in advance for all the help I know you all will give me. :)

Hey folks, I just got 2 bottles of Secret Weapon Washes, Soft body Black, and Stone, and I am wondering if people use it straight from the bottle, or thin it. If you are thinning it, what with? The Les B. You Tube stuff shows him mixing it up with just flow improver and Matte Medium, so I wonder if adding water is a good, bad, or indifferent idea. Can some anyone relate their experiences with this stuff please? Thanks George

I always hear "thin your paint". What do you use to thin your paints and where can i get some? I've been using water, but that's not the greatest. For instance, I was painting some armor with Honed steel. Honed steel will get really thick quick, so I added a little water. It became way to watery and bubbly. But more importantly I need something to wet blend better. I only recently learned that the way to wet blend well is to thin your paints and do lots and lots of coats. Water doesn't work so well for that.

New to the hobby and wondering both what people use to thin their paints, and whatever other 'essential' mixes are in your painting caddy. FLGS carries primarily Reaper MS paints/additives, so that's the stock I'm learning on. Planning on getting some empty dropper bottles soon, and trying to figure out what'd be most useful to put in them. I've seen a few stickied tutorials/threads with some info, but most are a few years old, and have either dead links, or are based off older paints, so I'm curious what works best with the current formulas. So - do you have a particular favorite mix? Does it vary for base coats, layers, washes, etc? Metallics? Metal vs Bones? Basically, what's your homebrew secret?

So, I recently got some Coat D'arms paints on the advice of a certain goblin. They're working decent well, but I have trouble getting them from the pot to the palette. I'm used to dropper bottles. I put a drop of paint in, a drop of my thinning solution, mix with a wooden skewer, and all is good. How do you work with the paint pots? So far, I've been taking a thick brush, dipping it in, getting as much off in the palette well as possible, and then adding my thinner. It kind of works, but it's hard to be consistent, and it's pretty wasteful, since most of the paint stays on the brush and ends up in my wastewater. There's got to be a better way. Please enlighten me.
