  1. I'm having trouble tracking down the number on her. I think she was a preview figure handed out at RC 2022? Painted her for RCL in April. She's a great figure for practicing both OSL and leather!
  2. Bones V dreadmere ranger. Submitted for the Feb ‘23 RCL in the ‘something shiny’ category. His sword slowly got bendy again, I should have been more clever in photographing him. Still, a great subject for OSL practice. Comments and criticism are welcome!
  3. 77140: Townsfolk: Village Rioter sculpted by Bobby Jackson I've been working on a big army project, so I painted this to take a break and refresh my brain. I've been working on an OSL speed painting technique to use in my painting classes, and I think it's working pretty well. This is roughly 4-5 hours work, so a ways to go yet before its really 'speed painting'.
  4. Pretty happy with this guy. Sculpted by Victoria Lamb, I believe as a special edition of some kind, and sculpted very much with OSL in mind. I love it when a sculptor takes the painter so clearly into consideration when making a model, and this mini is a great example of a painter sculpting something they would like to paint (at least I assume so: Victoria Lamb is known for her OSL; her "Rescue of Sister Joan" is still one of the finest examples of the technique). Anyway, if you want to see the process, check out the link to "Lunch Sessions II" in my sig.
  5. My D&D group's cleric is a follower of Chauntea, a plant goddess. He wields a scythe. He's also incredibly short for a human. He's absurdly chipper. He's the city's marijuana grower and distributor. For some reason, the player picked this figure, one of the townsfolk, to represent his character. I don't like this figure. Player stated that I could do low detail on him. I'm not sure there is a sufficient paint job to give him a cheerful face. C&C as I go is welcome. He isn't going to be one I super nitpick but I'd like him to be generally tidy. Might attempt OSL for practice. Oh bother. I thought I was in the WIP forums. Serves me right for doing this on the phone. Mod help pretty please?
  6. Been a while since I posted here. Been a few slow months. Did get to play around with OSL, and plenty of gore on this one. I like gore. :D :
  7. Njorn Thugs by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Here we have the Thugs from the Njorn character set. I really liked painting these guys. Very dynamic and interested. They had a wide variety in their weapons and poses. Continuing with my new Object Source Lighting (OSL) I painted up a solider with a torch in his hand. It turned out much better than I had thought I was going to do. Additionally, I did a blue glaze on the spearmans metallic's to get a more realistic look. First time I've really done that too. To me... It looks pretty good. I will probably try it out on all of my weapons and armors again. That's about it. I hope you enjoy this. Thank you for stopping by. Click the image to see it a bit larger. :) Close up of the Torch guy solider.
  8. Another Standard Type that shouldn't be missing in my D&D Bestiary: Goblins Got me the Pathfinder Designs, the normal ones cast in Bones (#89003), the torch bearers in metal (#60017). I definitely recommend metal for these cause especially the knives and teeth really lose shape in bones. It took me 3 different approaches to get the OSL right, but I'm quite happy with how it came out at last.
  9. First up in my February miniatures, the townsfolk: village rioter. I was just looking for something semi-fun inbetween other, more serious projects. I was a little worried his pants were too high contrast, it kind of makes him look cartoony, but that's not so bad, I guess. I always struggle painting eyes so when I got them both pointed the same direction I left it. But of course it leaves him looking angrily uphill (perhaps at Dr. Frankenstein's castle before he storms it). And he's not as bright as I wanted him to be color-wise, but I guess that's okay for realism. I had intended to line him a bit more, but I couldn't figure out how to do it with the really light colored shoulder thing he's got going on. Anyways, comments and suggestions would be appreciated as always.
