Hello All, Here is a 77265 Drys, Dryad miniature I completed a few weeks ago. I wanted her to look like she was magically appearing from the tree near a brook in springtime. Thank you for looking.

This was a fun little project from earlier this spring. I added a branch to her tree to give it more dimension and more places to glue "leaves" to. Link to full frontal view

Does anyone know if the two victim sculpts in the tree of despair set will (or are) ever going to be available separate from the set? I need a couple dozen. Thought about creating my own but id rather spend my money here first if possible. Alternatively is anyone aware of a reaper figure i could use as a substitute? Thank you all for any help.

Got this guy in my Bones Paint & Take Home Survival Kit earlier this year. He was done with lots of sloppy washes and dry brushing. I put flock on its exposed twigs, for decency's sake.

Hello everyone, here are pictures of a 77341 Lioness. This Bones model was sculpted by Geoff Valley. I painted it as a Black (Blue) Panther. I kept the original base and sculpted additional high grass around to incorporate it to a larger 2 inches square base. The trees are dried roots.

These are 3 resin Ttcombat treemen from their recent Halflings and Friends kickstarter, and the Reaper Bones tree spirit. Painted with contrast paints mainly. I then had great fun sticking flock and lichen all over them.

A while back, I bought some Ammo Mig vegetation and saw it in my terrain drawer. I decided to paint something really quickly as an excuse to give the vegetation a shot. I painted up this dude in an hour, and then spent an hour messing with the Ivy and the Hart's Tongue. I'm happy with the way it turned out, and the experience means that I'll make them even better next time.

I got this fake bonsai at a dollar store for a couple of dollars. Pulled it out of the small vase with rock and styrofoam, trimmed the trunk that was below "ground" and then stuck it on a yogurt lid. I put paper towel down for some texture and modgepodged it with brown and various greens. I still intend to flock it a bit. I may also stick it on a cd (hence the waiting to flock). But for now it's playable. I never took process pics. Oops. Maybe more to come. MSP bottle for rough scale (about 3"high by 6" span).

So, here's my Bones 4 Tree of Despair all painted up. I drilled 3mm holes into the branches and trunk, installed some neodymium magnets, and then affixed magnets to the backs of the victims and bases feet of the vultures. I also made some tree canopies out of sculpy and flock, and then set those to magnets to attach to the boughs as well. Decorated a 3" round base with grass tufts and extra skulls and rocks, too. Tomorrow when there is better light I will try to take some better pictures. For now here are some blurry shots at my first attempt from my bones 4 haul. I have never tried any flocking before, and I made a huge mess. Also I am still pretty new to painting (a couple of years, but infrequently) so if y'all have any criticism (even if it seems like common sense) I could use any tips I can get.

Learned from a thread on the Painting subforum that if you have Bones that are tacky from aerosol mishaps, stripping them and repainting will resolve the issue (thanks, @Cicciopiu!) And I had painted a Spirit of the Forest some years back, crappily, and it got horribly sticky and be-crudded. So I gave it a Green Stuff soak, scrubbed the paint off, and repainted it. Also gave a touchup to an old Saproling Warrior (14504), and a tiny tree-dude from the Bones Familiars 2 pack (77196). Here are 4 twisted wire trees I made. Three of them use moss from a craft store package, one used Woodland Scenics foliage. They all use Vallejo Earth Texture, Woodland Scenics scrubery, and Army Painter Lowland Shrubs. Here is is an average wizard under a tree for size reference:

At GenCon I stopped by the Privateer Press booth and picked up a model called "The Wicked Harvest," which appears to be a sort of undead tree with accompanying temptress. I have no idea what the lore of this critter is like in whatever game system it was designed for, but there's an undead tree coming up in my players' future, and this will do nicely! Here are all the bits, partially assembled and primed with Tamiya Fine Primer. Here's a slightly closer look at the tree: This guy is made of grey resin, and came in seven pieces: - the top left branch (on left) - a hangman's noose (on left branch) - the top right branch (on right) - a secondary branch for the right branch (attached) - a secondary branch for the left branch (attached to the side of his head) - a left arm - a right arm - the trunk This guy is dangerous. He's already drawn blood! Specifically I jabbed my finger pretty well with an exacto knife while cleaning some flash off him. Ouch. I've opted to paint the upper branches separately because I think it would have been exceptionally difficult to do it properly with everything fully assembled. I didn't pin the pieces in place, but the attachment spots are sufficiently large that I'm not too concerned about it. Plenty of surface area there for a strong join. And here is his temptress friend. According to the stock photo on the box, these two are a matched pair and designed to be based and treated as a single unit. But I have no need to keep 'em as a pair, so she gets her own base. This one is from Micro Arts Studio -- a 25 mm one from their Ancient line. I have found these particular bases from Micro Arts Studio difficult to use. They've got a lot of interesting detail, but there's precious little room to actually attach a figure. I had to remove a "loose brick" from this one in order for the lady to have enough space to stand. But she does fit, so yay. The apple basket came with the Wicked Harvest kit. I pinned it to one of the two bits of rubble here. And now that they're primed, I have found more mold lines. Yaaaay.

Had an extra one of these lying about, and decided to experiment with a limited palette. Here’s how she turned out: Front Back Main colors used were MSP Woodland Brown, Brilliant Green, Scholar Flesh, and Yellowed Bone (and it’s triad). Not completely happy with her skin tones, I tried everything up to Moth Green trying to get a light tone that still read as green. Wound up using one of the darkest greens I have, go figure. Shaded by gradually dropping the flesh tone until it was straight green, but it turned out to be a rather extreme color shift. I like how the base and tree trunk came out, however. The ground shade was achieved by throwing some blues and yellows together until they stopped being bad and then painting some gray on the rocks. All in all, I think it turned out all right for just messing around. Definitely something to practice in the future. Comments, critiques, and suggestions appreciated.

WARNING! HERE THERE BE SECRET SOPHIE SPOILERS! YE HAVE BEEN WARNED!! Please excuse the crappy phone pictures. It was all I had at the time. I now have access to my mother's camera (my digital is broken) but there are delays getting pictures from it to the computer. Note: Some of the images are sideways, but if you right click and open in a new tab, they show correctly. Don't know why this is happening... So here it is, the WIP of my Secret Sophie. It is taking me a while, but that's because I'm putting a lot of work into it. There are a lot of pictures included as I've been taking them along the way, so you can see the progress. The first thing I did when I received the information on my partner was look up their profile and started looking over their own work and some of their comments. I needed 1) An idea of what kind of mini to do, since they weren't super-clear and 2) What kind of color scheme they'd like. One color seemed to jump out from many of their comments, and that color is what inspired my color scheme. So blame my partner. But before I had a color scheme, I had to peruse the Reaper catalog for what mini to paint. A few jumped out at me, and some of them were purchased and will be included in the final box (so they can paint them up), but I finally had a mini that struck me with a very clear image in my head: Along with this mini I wanted a tree. Not just any tree, I needed a tree that was spooky and hanging with Spanish moss, so off to the interwebz! So I had my pictures. But... now what? Well, I decided I wanted the tree up high and the figure lower and a stream of water in between. I had my layout. Toss in some old gravestones, and I was set. Off to my Reaper Order! But... tree. Where was I going to get a tree? Then I remembered recently reading a post by Corporea about tree sculpting. So off to ask questions via PM. First attempt: Too small. So... before I even put greenstuff on it, I made a new armature. Better! So off I went. While I was busy sculpting the tree, I was also painting the mini... Then I started looking at all my paints. I finally settled on these: So I needed to do my base colors... With the initial blocking in done, it's down to blending... Then I started freaking out that my colors weren't contrasty enough. That's when I did the black and white image shown before of the colors. Satisfied there was enough contrast, I moved on. Here is where I am currently: Still not done, but hope to provide regular updates here as I move along. Comments and suggestions on this are greatly appreciated as so far this is my best work. I have a lot of cork I'll be using to build up the base, along with all sorts of basing supplies I've been collecting and water effects for the stream. I was going to mount it on a tile, but have been reconsidering as of late onto a plinth. Here's what I've had: Hope you enjoy the ride with me the rest of the way! WIP #1 was animals. WIP #2 will be plants. Until Bones 3 arrives, I only have 2 sets of plant creatures. Spirit of the Forest and Mushrooms (a 3 pack). I decided to warm up with the fun guys. First sliced some mold lines. Not too bad and not being super picky with these. Here they are ready for their bath. After some hot water and a scrub with the old toothbrush, I mounted them each on their own homemade holder. staff on the big one was noticeably less bent after the hot water rinse. then they got a diluted coat of brown liner. next up... Base coats.

This was started as a small-ish side project, but ended up being a big-ish project. With a lot of new things for me. The ghost is an old mini that I painted many years ago, and was quite happy with at the moment. And as I started up in this hoppy again, I thought I might build a base for it. I wanted it to look dark or low-light, so used a bit darker colors as I would normally have used, but I still wanted to use colors. I'm really happy with the result, I think it's the best piece of landscape I have made. And I learned a couple new things. A big thanks to all that commented and came with ideas and helpfull tips throughout the process. The Wip thread is here. This past week I painted the Drys, Dryad, figure from the Bones II, Sylvan Creatures set. Since I was in kind of a Frostgrave frame of mind when I was thinking about painting her, I decided I would try to paint her up in winter colors, like a dryad that has been unexpectedly awoken from her Winter sleep, and is not happy about it. Gauntfield, Necropolis Hero "Harrow, Reidlar of Terror" I bought Gauntfield to specifically use him as my terrifying Reidlar (embodiment of emotions/thoughts), Harrow, for my custom campaign, Markshire. The miniature was perfect for the character ... a detailed scarecrow with a scythe and a bag of bones and other tidbits who pulls unwary adventurers and children into his "Courtyard" to terrorize them with his smaller scarecrows stuffed with raven feathers and twisted ash sticks. This great miniature by Bob Ridolfi was based on a metal slug and I slowly created an eerie, dead tree from skewers, rocks, green stuff, and finally green putty. Then after it was assembled and painted, I decided he needed a pile of leaves around his legs. Ones drawn together by his magic so you'll see traceries of fell yellow magic outlining the leaves. Okay, this is a WIP of the making of the vignette, not the entire paint process. This is my first post here, so bear with me if I have to modify stuff. If the descriptions come out by the right photos the first time, I'll be pleasantly surprised :-) The post is going to be photo heavy, so I reduced the size of all of them. Hopefully it won't be too bloated. #1 The 99% mostly finished unicorn. -- EDIT -- grabbed the wrong photo, this one also lacks the mane & tail highlighting. If I add the corrected photo it will screw up the order. Whoops :-) #2 I "built" this tree using things from the yard. I couldn't find one exactly the way I wanted, so I cut and glued in pieces until I had what I wanted. #3 A spray primered piece of floor tile for the base, with a framework for the hill I wanted. The hill bit is the cardboard from the middle of one of those drink carrier things, Gorilla glued onto the base. I used Gorilla glue rather than one of the other kinds for enhanced sturdiness throughout. #4 I didn't want too much green or too much brown for my ground cover, so I mixed some static grass with old coffee grounds. #5 Putty time! #6 The oil slick, aka black primer so I'd have a steady color under my grass. #7 Some steps along the way getting my ground cover in. #8 I covered up the unicorn because for the last step I wanted an extremely light dusting representing the first snow of the year, but I didn't want any on him. *** edit *** Have to do a second post with the finished product, ran out of allowable photos. Also I didn't get the steps above each photo, but I think ya'll can figure it out.

Ahoi, I spent some time researching yew trees and owls the last weeks and created an old gnarly yew tree that can be removed from its base to place miniatures inside the hollow trunk and also has magnetized branches for easier transport. After getting FeR's "Random Encounter" Dwarf (54mm scale), I have seen him painted up so many awesome and different ways hiding, being weary/cautious, about the be attacked, looking frightened, etc. I wanted to try my hand at him as well, so I literally scratch built a tree out of Beesputty and floral wire to have a large "hand" and skulls pressed into its trunk, giving it a very creepy and sinister vibe. Anyhow, this is just another project I'll be working on for fun, maybe take it to ReaperCon this year too.
