Hey folks! Finally finished the last Kobold on the shelf of prep, and I tried a few new things on him, so in my opinion, he is the best of the Tribe that I have done. (It's Good to be The King!) He was finished up with wet blending and layering, so a large improvement over my older style of base coat, wash, mid tone, high light. He is also the first figure that I did work with my new Scale 75 Metallic golds, and new Raphael brushes, so tools and techniques changed in the painting of this guy. His scepter and crown were done with all 4 gold shades from the Metal 'N Alchemy Gold set, and they are something else! The orb in the scepter, and any gems were given 2 coats of water effect to spice them up. Forget who posted that trick on one of their minis, but thanks! Pics: His left eye is very strange, as far as I can tell, it is designed and sculpted that way. Not many images of this figure in any search I tried that showed that side of the fig... I tried to paint it as if it was enlarged and infected with some disease... So I used a deeper yellow than the norm, no pupil, and a couple of light light grey glazes to try and make it look cloudy / catarachted... Comments welcome! 8) George Now the Kobolds are talking back!!!! It's all Buglips' fault....

After we started the Rise of the Runelords PbP here, I found myself on a mission. I created a catfolk character, Kehrgl (only later would I reflect on the closeness to a certain kind of exercise, LoL, and then decide to keep the name anyway), and I wanted a mini to suit her. And holy crap--catfolk minis are a job to come by. Ones that fit the bill, at least. Luckily, someone directed me to the Panthera Tribe in the 100 Kingdoms game, by Black Orc Games. And there I found some pretty cool cat-people minis. And go figure! Apparently sculpted by Sandra Garrity. Of course I'd like them. I think it's a really nice mini, beyond being simply leaps and bounds by most of the catfolk-types I's finding. I had quite a bit of fun with her, though she was exceedingly simple. Kind of felt my way into the purple--didn't want blue, but still wanted it to feel warm to me (but also cool, I guess; whatever). Decided to put her on a base from Micro Arts Studio. Tried a little vine action with some stuff I got; I swear it doesn't look as much like chopped broccoli irl. I'm pretty pleased with her, all in all. Thanks for looking!
