  1. My last 2 I think for the Fall/Halloween contest. First the Nightspectre. To retain translucency I first gave the whole figure a 'primer' coat of matte medium. When that dried, I washed/glazed the entire thing with reapers Clear green. Followed by a drybrushing of pale green. The skeletons I did in tanned skin, washed with tanned shadow and highlighted with linen white, followed by a light glaze of a mix of clear green, pale green and linen white. the dirt is intense brown, with a bit of a glaze nearest the heart, and a drybrush over top with the remaining pale green mix from the skeletons. All in all, I am pleased with how this one came out. the Ghost. I am less pleased with how he came out. Mostly a mix of sapphire blue and linen white with a touch of snow shadow added in. A reminder that I really need to work to improve my blending between layers.
  2. Hey all. Over the past month I kind of dropped everything to get a bunch of minis done for my Iron Kingdom's game as it was winding down to the last few months and I had bought this stuff specifically for the game so I figured I had better paint them up. Most are from the Iron Kingdom's line by Privateer but two are from Reaper's Savage World line. So starting out is Father Dumas (one of the main NPCs) Next up is Vahn Oberen (the main Villain) Now for the generics: A Boneswarm Some Bone Fiends from Reaper And finally a bunch of Tomb Maidens that were each painted a different way that you can see in my WIP thread (link in sig)
  3. I'm getting some proper photos of the minis I've painted on my holiday this last week and a half, now that I can finish the bases and have access to a real camera. So, here's my Bones zombie: Nothing very fancy, but I wanted to see if I could get a good scheme for batch-painting. Mostly drybrushing and washing, with a light purple glaze at the end. I'm pretty pleased with the result, even if I did end up botching his right eye when I tried to "fix" a tiny little mistake. You know the ones that are almost imperceptible, but you can see them because you know it's there, and you assume everyone else can too? The ones that can screw up an otherwise perfectly fine mini when you try to do something about them? Yeah, one of those. In the end, I didn't think one little zombie was worth trying to keep re-fixing my fixing, so I called him done.
  4. Fellow hobbyists, tabletop gamers, and rpg fans, Firstly I'd like to introduce myself as I am new to the forums. My name is Paul and i like painting and building miniatures and terrain along with designing game systems. If anyone is on the miniwargaming forums, board of the living lead, dakka dakka, or rpg net i go by the same name [oddeye]. This may be a unusual post in the WIP section as most people are posting up only painted miniatures, I am posting up a work in progress of a entire game that I have been creating in my free time over the last 8 months (100% free to download, i do ask for any feedback that you may have though so i can improve on the rules, link is provided below). As the title states my game is based around surviving hordes of zombies with many different armies available with a fantasy and modern version, some armies available to play are: us army, ww2 wehrmact, survivors, knights, hordes of undead, zombies, pirates, dragons, and samurai just to name a few. There are many pictures of fully painted miniatures, custom terrain and artwork along with some youtube videos already available for your viewing pleasure. I am also working on a full role playing pen and paper version as well based off the table top war game versions. You can download the rules here for free and there is also a link to scribed.com to view the rules online if you don't want to download. There are also many posts with pictures and miniature links in the other sections of the community page. https://plus.google.com/communities/108863897726135327206/stream/96e11d1b-6e44-4604-9860-5929bcc4f8ac Youtube channel with videos https://www.youtube.com/user/Scheitelpunkt If you are interesting in joining the google community or subbing to the youtube channel feel free to do so, I really am looking for good feedback, comments, and ideas to help improve the game system and rule book. I appreciate all feedback good or bad! Thanks and happy gaming!
  5. MINIATURE...Hand from the grave...scratch built...all items are from my parts box...the cacti is real tiny cacti from the desert. PROTOTYPE...The request for this very unusual and weird piece came from a writer/artist; who wanted me to do a desert piece of a hanged cowboy coming back from the grave in skeleton form...with the hand reaching up for the hangman's noose. He wanted to do some comic type drawings and needed a visual reference to work by. This is the prototype I built and sent him...he really liked it...used it for his work...and I was nicely compensated. In my years...I have had some off-the-wall requests.
  6. Below are the original Colossal Skeleton sculpted by Jason Wiebe and the Bones Undead Giant (renamed Colossal Skeleton in Preview Gallery). I was looking at the Bones version on my desk after having received my order yesterday and I was amused to note that the primary weapon had changed from the original. A second look proved I wasn't losing it and there it was ... a Tombstone Hammer. I haven't noted any topics on the conversion ... I didn't search all that hard ... so I thought I would mention it. I much prefer the Bones weapon conversion. What are your thoughts?
  7. So my Wednesday night pathfinder group has a father daughter combo and recently the daughter who was playing our inquistior tank stopped showing up and that left my mage tanking (granted he's got 25 ac, one hands a bastard sword and casts with the other and is medium armor) so I talked to my friend who was running the game and pitched the idea of a cleric tank and frankly he loved it (this adventure path is very undead heavy) and I decided on a variant tifling (+2con +2wis prehensile tail, spelllike ability pyromancy and dr2/coldiron) cleric with healing/fire domains. so this is my First pathfinder cleric and Holy crap the healing domain 0.o at lev 6 all cure spells are empowered so +50% to your total healing per spell, the fire domain is fun, granted power is throwing firebolts for something like 1d8+half casterlevel max 5 and access to things like produce flame fireballl.... a cleric throwing fireballs... yea i'm ok with that. With the Main idea being a Tank I originally went with the idea of full plate and a tower shield but as I was getting the character on paper It just didn't work so well, that -2 to attack rolls Hurts, going to talk to the gm about house rulling this with maybe a feet or something. So onto the part you guys are going to be interested in. the obligatory tilfling in fullplate: Vaeloth, Hellborn Paladin, I ended up grabbing a warhammer on the character but ehh small detail, I almost always use swords so I figured I would be different. so his shield is going to come off, and the tower shield will be attached to his arm, without opening the packages and playing with them I'm suspecting the only way to do is to have the shield attached lengthwise on his arm which isn't idea but. the tower shield, Pavise As you can see from this shot the shield is going to need a lot of trimming before I will be able to mount it on the miniature. Now for the fun part, my mage killed and cast animate dead on an advanced troll and created an advanced bloody troll skeleton, think the red skeletons from castlevainia they put themselfs back together after a bit. While reaper does have a Undead troll I really didn't care for it, I planning on doing a purple base coat and then light coat of green to give it a rather nasty look, I will have to fiddle with a bit i'm sure. While I'm at it I'm considering Repainting my tengu.
  8. When the adventure group encounters skeletons on the tabletop game board...they have to make sure that there isn't a necromancer on board (36" LOS) of the battle; because if there is...the necromancer just re-animates the fallen skeletons...this is how they appear coming back to active status...this process continues until the enemy necromancer is killed or driven from the game board...I have (6) such markers done for adventure game play.
  9. While I still wait for my kickstarter Bones to arrive, I got a chance to pick up a free Bones ghost at a paint-and-take at MAG-con last weekend. I was inspired to do a greenish color scheme by Paizo/Wizkid's Festering Spirit. I was only able to get as far as base-coating him with a yellow-green mix at the con before I had to rush off to GM my assigned slots. I had real problems with the paint sticking to the mini, probably as a result of not having a chance to wash it prior to painting. After the con, I took him home and gave him a bit of a wash, followed by a second base-coat of darker green. The hands and face got a white base-coat to help the wash coat stick later, while the tombstone got metallic silver, as I was broke and lazy and it was the closest I had to a stone grey. This was followed by a black ink wash coat for the whole thing, then a gloss sealer. I find this sealer generally tends to leave things too shiny, but in this case gave him a nice sickly, oily sheen. Some starting difficulties aside, It was wonderful to work with a Bones mini for the first time, and I look forward to many more one my kickstarter reward gets here.
  10. This is a zombie group that the adventure group encounter in the RPG adventure game. These are metal figures from the old Citadel fantasy figures line and are game playing pieces.
  11. I have been out of the hobby for ages. Here is another one I painted in an earlier life, when drybrushing was king. And this one has a weapon swap, if I remeber correctly it is a sabre from a Citael plastic skeleton that is used. The original was more like a fruit knife, and not very threatening, It was drybrushed over a black undercoat as far as I remember, mainly old roundpot Citadel and "Miniature Paints by Gamecraft" (smell exacly the same, I belive these were made by the same manufacturer, what today sells as "Coat D'arms". Some of these paints I have with price tags dated 1998 and earlier. And they are still perfectly usable (!). And yes -I am reusing the same text as in other oldies but goldies posts. since it pretty much does say what it needs to ;)
  12. will get some pictures up of him by himself later. this is a little size comparison for you guys, with a bones orc archer, my ogre chief Half Lived and Nagash
  13. I have been out of the hobby for ages. Here are some I painted in an earlier life, when drybrushing was king. These were used together with the Zombie Werewolf, its pups as it were. They were drybrushed over a black undercoat as far as I remember, mainly old roundpot Citadel and "Miniature Paints by Gamecraft" (smell exacly the same, I belive these were made by the same manufacturer, what today sells as "Coat D'arms". Some of these paints I have with price tags dated 1998 and earlier. And they are still perfectly usable (!). 14. Here is my first golem for my vampire counts army. It is a cadaver collector and will be my 'corpse cart'. I ordered two flesh golems from reaper and four from two other producers. I have 2 grave golems and the pumpkin golem, but not painted, these golems will be the crypt horrors of the vampire counts. I still need the reaper grave horror. Ah, the pumpkin golem is painted, I must look if I made a foto. If I need more than 8-10 crypt horrors. I will have two groups, one group of golems and one group of werewolves. I think the group of werewolves will increase faster than the golems. This Flesh Golem 'Cadaver Collector' is a conversion of the D&D mini cadaver collector and the corpse pile of the vampire counts corpse cart. I can remove him from the main base if I need him for other games, even I don't know if I have use for him in another game. The base still need little work, it need grass.
  15. As we approach the Halloween night, howling creatures are gathering attracted by the stench of death. Here is the modular diorama I’ve prepared for the Halloween. All models can be moved on the base to create different battle scenes. The monsters are 02282 Ghoul Warrior by Bob Ridolfi, 02941 Ghouls and Ghast by Ben Siens and 02943 Festering Spirit by Jason Wiebe. I equipped this last one with the Flail of Pestilence. This custom built weapon was created using; the wooden stick P14106C included in the Dark Maiden sprue to make the handle, the chains are P14472D from Razig Weapons Pack, the skull is P02611A from the skulls pack and the poisoned blades are daggers from the 02871 Wererats. I had kept these daggers after switching the lycanthropes weapon for axes. The heroes are 02386 Boris Mingla sculpted by Werner Klocke & 02938 Boris the Evil Fighter by Bobby Jackson converted with a 02899b Death knight shield. I modified his sword to make him hold it upwards and added hair on their bald heads. The tombstone are 03122d & 03274b. I hope you'll enjoy it, happy Halloween!
  16. Here is my Festering Spirit 02943 by Jason Wiebe with is custom made Flail of Pestilence. His weapon was build using; the chains P14472D from Razig Weapons Pack, the handle is the wooden post included in the Dark Maiden sprue P14106C, the cranium is from the skulls pack P02611A and the poisoned blades are daggers from the 02871 Wererats. For the base, I crafted mushrooms and worms using green stuff and added some synthetic grass, lichen and painted birch tree seed shells. The gravestone comes from the Grave Wraith tombstones sprue 03274b. Here's a picture from the Festering Spirit and the Ghouls attacking Eusebe the Sturdy by the birch trees.
  17. In preparation for Halloween, here are the minis I painted this week. 02282, Ghoul Warrior sculpted by Bob Ridolfi and 02941, Ghouls and Ghast sculpted by Ben Siens. I’ve cut the Ghoul Warrior’s arm to meet the needs of the diorama I'm working on now. I used cork brown as base color for the skin. Then, I applied a flat brown wash and blended some highlights with green gray and dark flesh which in fact are not dark at all. I finished with purple bruises and different tones of flat red mixed with charcoal color for the blood.
