  1. This is going to be a really quick WIP, mainly because I'm generally done. I've got another layer of color to put down on the base (the first is drying), and then a wash for the bases, assembly, then clear coat protection. So this entry will probably be wordy. Last Christmas I was visiting my brother, my two nieces and a nephew. One of things I like to do is go to his FLGS (although he doesn't know it), and it's a really really nice store. Anyway, the middle niece picked out a Bone's Fire Dragon. And my brother said NO! I could have killed him! So I decided then to buy one for her and paint i
  2. Here is a trio of unicorns from Otherworld Miniatures (Wilderness Encounters 19). The hedgehog is from 2969: Familiar Pack VIII.
  3. "En Loki hafði þá ferð haft til Svaðilfara, at nökkuru síðar bar hann fyl. Þat var grátt ok hafði átta fætr, ok er sá hestr beztr með goðum ok mönnum." "But Loki's relations with Svaðilfara [the horse of a giant] were such that a while later he gave birth to a colt. It was grey and had eight feet, and this is the best horse among gods and men." -Snorri Sturlason, Edda (written around 1220 CE, the latter line a translation by Jesse Byock) This is a conversion of two Unicorn figures into Sleipnir, the horse of the Chieftain of the Norse Gods, Odin. I used t
  4. Woo! So, I finally got a camera, and I thought I'd upload some of my painted minis~ I'm gonna upload them in the order I did them, so I'll do the "Unicorn" first! Now, all of my mini's are painted in Marie's Artist's Acrylics - I get mine for 5$/box at Ocean State Job Lot. My paint brushes are these - they're cheap, they're tiny, and they move paint from the palette to the mini, which is all I really ask for in a brush. They last okay; I need to order new ones, and even 15 brushes don't last long, so I usually order 2-3 sets at a time - with free shipping, spending 5 or 6 dollars i
  5. I couldn't think of a better start for adding my posts to these forums. As my 5 year old daughter has recently started showing an interest in my miniature painting, I decided to get a couple of unicorns to paint with and for her. This is the result of about 1 hours worth of painting, followed by 5 minutes of Quickshade on my effort, then a quick matte coat the next day to get rid of the gloss. I'm really proud of her effort. It was originally all pink, which in her words was "so we don't have to use all the paints", but when I got out the rest of the colors for my rainbow
  6. The fourth Bone to be completed is the Unicorn. This one was mostly uninspired and somewhat of a struggle, and has been dabbled with on and off over the past few weeks. I had a lot of halfbaked not quite thought out ideas, but they conflicted and I had to start over a couple of times as what I tried doing simply did not work. In the end I got sick of it and completed it a bit too fast, with almost no detailing such as stripes, mealy muzzle, socks or what not. And it shows, as it is rather dull and a bit boring. Too bad as it is a very nicely posed figure. It probably would have been b
  7. Does anybody know if Dark Moto models were ever made for L5R? In particular, I'm wondering about cavalry. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  8. going to base him soon. Thinking about hitting him with a white glaze to tone down the shiny..
  9. This is the first thing I have painted since November. Every time I paint a bones I like them more. I am no fan of priming and I really like how they take craft paint. The camera jammed during this photo session (E18, again!) so they aren't the best photos. Happy (Late) New Year and feedback appreciated. Cheers.
