  1. One of my favorite Fantasy races are the Undead, followed by Chaos and Reptilians. I already have my Lost World Project which tells a tale of Conquistadores, Reptilians, Dinosaurs, and a lot more. And has some Undead in Jungle and or Pirate style in it. My Shifting Sands project is all about Undead, Arabian and Egyptian style Undead. This thread will be filled with my beloved Gothic Undead, Demons, Monsters and all things that go bump in the night. In my Lost World Project I tell an ongoing story, here I will post about all other dark things without coherency. There might be snippets of loose stories to accompany a mini or not... I hope you guys and gals and creatures will like it. Let's kick off with the critters I painted a while ago to get a feel of what is coming. Enjoy! ( or not) Bats and a Murder of Crows EDIT: I will include some Bones and minis. The bulk will be metal and I want to give the project an oldschool vibe/. Preferred minis will be, Reaper, Grenadier, Ral Partha, Rafm, Metal Magic, Otherworld and Early Citadel. The Asian Undead will be from Zenith since I backed the Kensei Undead Samurai KS and will get their own thread. ( Nippon, Land of the Rising Moon) and the Egyptian ones are in Shifting Sands Project) EDIT: Since the 3D printing bug bit me, the bulk will probably become 3d printed now. EDIT - Asked to merge my Undead Threads into one. Now CHILDREN of the NIGHT. This is for all the Ghotic Undead and their friends like Werewolves/Witches/Demons and the Witchunters and Zealots who fight them etc etc.. Eldessa Necromancer Ral Partha Female Vampire Lurien and Aysa Bat Demon
  2. Just finished off my final Crimson Court model. I absolutely loved this box of models. Fun to paint, great poses, and interesting characters. This one had been waiting for me to paint him to long. Just decided to go for it.
  3. And another finished mini this evening! So I've had a free-ish week and have been busy like a Keebler elf making cookies, painting as much as time would permit. This one is a Vampire Lord as per its original packaging back from either late seventies or early eighties. Later on when he got separated from the blister pack, they called him a gesturing wizard. With this in mind, my question was do I make him a vampire or a wizard? So I wanted to have him pale and pasty like his vampirish early concept, so here is the result:
  4. @Inarahhelped pick the mini to paint this time. Great call and a fun one to do.
  5. Vampiress and her victim are 3D printed on my Elegoo Mars. Design - Great Grimoire. I put them in the Reaper Bones Crypt from the Dust KIng and Crypt set SKU: 77535 Part of my Children of the Night Project. WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79298-children-of-the-night-by-glitterwolf/page/28/#comments *********************************** She's a Nobleman's daughter, hiding her true nature from everyone. Daddy is worried about his little girl, she looks so pale lately and she doesn't leave her room all day, barely touches her food the maid brings her. At night she puts on a costume so nobody will recognise her, it is then that she feels alive, driven by the hunger she seeks out her victims. Will someone ever find out? ********************************
  6. Alright, let me just say I havent had much luck with florescent paints. That is unti today. Goodness! I had seen reference to using Golden paints on YouTube from Lyla Mev and she discussed how she likes to mix them into regular paints. Taking this as a chance to try something new, I figured why not? HO-LEE COW! So glad I did. This stuff just brings the highs to the next level. I was painting the model and each time I layred up I nearly said out loud like Emerill on his cooking show, "BAM!" Open to any feedback and would love to hear if anyone else has used these Golden High Flow Florescent paints and their results . Also - woud you put anything else on that base to spice it up?
  7. Got another one of these polished off. I really like these vampire models from GW. I'm also very happy that Spooktober is forcing me to paint more.
  8. Just a set of Halloween fun. Gotta keep going with Spooktober! Vlad "Pull my finger" the Flatulator...less well known, but just as deviant as his cousin the impaler. Tessa the "Crone" Vivian MickJager aka The Lips
  9. Hello All, Here is a metal 03681 Dark Heaven Legends "Nazera Bloodraven, Vampire" miniature I completed last January. Thank you for looking.
  10. Last year PingosHusband, after noodling around Exalted (2nd edition) and World of Darkness rulebooks (Vampire the Masquerade 2nd edition, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Mage the Ascension, etc.), announced that he'd like to run an Exalted game set in the World of Darkness. We, his friends and loved ones, said “What, are you crazy? Have we not long joked about how unplayable and internally inconsistent the World of Darkness is; how its timeline makes no sense and its rules and worldbuilding are buried and often mutually contradictory; how foolish and suicidally incurious the various groups are regarding each other; and how so many of its many tragic angsty world-destroying problems could be solved if only each isolated group got its head out of its backside and actually talked to one of the others?” He said, “Hear me out,” and since we have long experience of his keen ability to run entertaining campaigns, we heard him out. See, PingosHusband has a knack rather like Alan Moore's ability to take unpromising old third rate comic book series and turn them into fascinating multifaceted mythic dynamos, or Neil Gaiman's ability to mine world mythology to create astounding and consistent and multilayered worlds, or James Burke or Kenneth Hite’s ability to take fascinating historical and technological developments and spin them into stories of human interconnectivity or disturbingly deep illuminati conspiracies for game use, respectively. More than once PingosHusband has taken historical oddments, played “What happens if this is taken seriously and assumed to make sense somehow?” and produced some wonderful story or game setting or world. (One of them won awards.) So apparently he did this with Exalted and World of Darkness, getting under the hood, finding the core of what worked and what didn’t, seeing what could be connected to what else and what made sense, what was clearly absurd, what needed tweaking, what could be fun, what couldn’t be possible, why things happened, and who could have done them. He looked keenly at characters, places and situations, saw potential for fun in a campaign, wrote up background, and presented us with an introductory players’ handout. I’ll get to particulars later. The simple version is that the world looks basically like the World of Darkness, except that all of a sudden a tiny number of people have Exalted with memories of the world of Exalted (“Creation”) and powers derived from it. There are five to begin with (the PCs), although more will come soon enough. I have to say, this game has so far been tremendous fun. Our group has been playing together for over thirty years and I have rarely seen all of us this excited about a game. Our teenage / adult children are also involved and we have been having vivid family conversations over meals about history, strategy, and characters. I’ve (of course) been painting up miniatures for the game. I’m having a lot of fun with these too. I’ll put links to Show Off threads when I have them up.
  11. Picked up a few of these a year or two ago and am slowly getting them painted. They have a different feel from Reaper's usual models. Sister vampire in a different color scheme.
  12. Classic old school vampiress sculpt by Sandra Garrity. Rawr! She's a bit petite by current standards, so I built up her base just a bit. But, oh, how that cloak flies! And the ruffles edges on her shroud gown! I did the back in a cooler purple:
  13. My first time painting a chibi figure. Probably not the last. Painting this made me feel happy.

Design Vehicle and Crew: Titanforge Design: Fleeing Vampire in Front : Arch Villain Games Design Hanging Corpse : Printed Obsession Design Church Ruins: Printed Obsession Fleeing Winged Vampire : Reaper Bones Vorvorlake SKU 50329 Graveyard Fence Part : Reaper Tombstones /Barrels/Books/ Weapons: Various. Printed on Elegoo Mars in Resin. Part of my Project Children of the Night. WIP HERE: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79298-children-of-the-night-by-glitterwolf/page/17/ ****************** Vampires roam the land, but fear not, there are those who dedicated their lives to exterminate them. Here we can see how Ernst Holtz and his crew hunt down the evil creatures who were hiding in an abandoned cemetary. Once nobles and commoners alike donated money to the Order of the Vampire Hunters, but since the Baron's son and his wife ruled the Barony the order was mocked. People no longer believed in the supernatural. Ernst suspected the Baron's son and his wife to be behind it but he couldn't prove it yet. When he heard rumours of vampires in the area he assembled his crew and took out the now rusty Dampfhammer. He would show them! He would capture one of those vile creatures and show it to the people, they would believe again! Once more the vile Undead would flee before him! And maybe he could find out why the Baron's son and his wife wanted to get rid of the Order.. *****************
  15. I've finished another project that was on my to-do list for years. First the pics, then some more words: This was a special resin figure from ReaperCon 2014 (April 24-27 that year) -- sculpted by Bobby Jackson, given to attendees who paid extra for the Artist Banquet on Saturday night. I was supposed to paint him for Reaper's studio collection after the con, but I got distracted with other stuff and he fell off my list. He had the SKU 01529 for a while, and although he is out of production now, his clone will be back soon in Bones 5 as part of the "Dreadmere Personas" Core Set extra. I'll try to remember to revise the tags of this post when he has a new 77xxx or 78xxx number. Ian Markon (Kuro Cleanbrush) painted a spectacular rendition in 2015 as "Knight of the Blood Moon", with red armor and wings. You can find it here on the Forum by searching for "01529". So far in 2021, I've been finishing some figures left over from years past ... and getting points in the Reaper Challenge League for it. This guy earned 3 points for the April theme of "No More Sunrises" (vampires and other nocturnal or subterranean monsters). I couldn't decide on a color scheme so I started painting a cool grey monochrome as if he were in moonlight. I was going to add a warm light from behind, too, but I just kept going with the cool monochrome all around. I concentrated on the differences in contrast and texture among the materials: armor plates and trim, cloak exterior and interior, sword (blade, crossguard, pommel, hilt), gems, skin, hair, teeth, stone steps, skull, etc. I spent extra time on the face, as always, such as getting the blends very smooth. The eyes are sculpted very large, which gave me freedom to manipulate the expression. I painted the upper lids a fraction of a millimeter lower, to get just the right half-lidded look. And in order to make him seem more feral, I painted his scleras darker and irises lighter. I did this a few years ago on a half-orc Pathfinder figure I painted (Skreed Gorewillow). The specific colors were Blue Liner ("black"), the cold grey triad (9172 Stormcover Grey, 9173 Coldstone Grey, and 9174 Icy Grey, now out of production), Misty Grey, and Pure White. The blending was somewhat challenging, because the greys changed value from wet to dry! Stormcover Grey dries a little lighter, and Icy Grey and Misty Grey dry a little darker. On the back of the cloak, for example, I would see a spot where I wanted to deepen the shadow, and Stormcover Grey looked perfect while wet, but then it would dry lighter and the "shadow" disappeared! So I had to add Blue Liner to the Stormcover Grey, and trusted that what looked too dark at first would look right when dry. This phenomenon made it fun to paint little streaks of Stormcover Grey on the interior of the cloak or the sword blade, because the streak would go on invisible over the black, but then appear grey as it dried a few seconds later. Enjoy! Derek
  16. Siobhana (03150) is one hell of a femme fatale in the Morticia Addams line. Zaftig and haughty, scornful and entitled. I wish I had gotten better lighting; her pale skin isn't great at showing contrast, She comes with a half-broken pillar of some solar celestial (a Pathfinder relic? it looks like it would fit with their iconic Cleric) and also a batlike grotesque. I think the Vorvorlaka (77631) represents another stage in that gargoyle vargouille life cycle. The sexy vampire lady and the horrible batlike monstrosities make for a good Hammer Horror aesthetic. Further experiments with tight-clinging fabrics. Please give me your tips and constructive criticism; I feel sure I can do better with sheer fabrics but am not sure what to focus on. C&C welcome!
  17. I have put together a warband, mainly Reaper models, for use in Saga Age of Magic, Frostgrave, Oathmark etc. The winged vampires were quite simple to paint. Primed with Israeli grey from Vallejo, then drybrushed with Rakarth flesh and Pallid Wych flesh. Then a wash of carroburg crimson and a highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh. The armoured vampires are mainly crimson knights from Reaper with a couple of head swaps but mostly straight and un-kitbashed. They were primed with Vallejo red brown then I used contrast flesh tearers red and a bunch of washes for the armour. I enjoyed painting these and the next step is to add some more winged vampires/succubi, and some mounted vampire knights.
  18. I finally managed to climb back on the painting horse. I painted this vampire to my usual tabletop standard. He'll be the leader for a Mordheim/Frostgrave/random skirmish game warband.
  19. Another tabletop lady - tried stronger source lighting and focused on trying to smoothly blend the very pale skin. Also managed to make a reasonable base with the greenstuff roller this time - so overall happy to try these things out on her, including the flowers.
  20. Hi everyone, I completed this one last night. 02181, Sirithis the Succubus sculpted by Bob Ridolfi. This is a Dark Heaven Legends model. I painted her with Reaper MSP paint and mounted her on a 40 mm round base sku: 74033. Censored for the younger audience. Uncensored version of the pictures can be found on my blog or FB page.
  21. It says something about the state of organization on my painting table, that I come across finished minis I'd forgotten about. I finished these awhile back, but the spray sealer turned them glossy, despite being labelled as "Satin" sealer. Tried a dousing in Vallejo Matte Sealer, no help there. So I put them aside until now, with my last Reaper tithe I picked up some of the Reaper Brush On Sealer...and it solved the problem. So I now unleash Ivan von Helstein and Lianna Vampiress.... Here frolicking amid the gravestones... With the sculpt for Ivan very closely matching the one for Gabriel Darkblood, I decided to go with a purple cloak and brighter clothing. I really like this sculpt, nothing overdone, just a vampire bride out for a meal. Went with the traditional grey graveshroud. With Isabelle having black hair, I wanted to keep Lianna more towards the brunette side, and I think it came out well.
  22. So I finished the Undead Regiment. Background story.. the Vampire Queen lost a big battle, fled to a swamp/jungle area. Subdued the swampfolk and now faces a rebellion. Some swamp creatures follow her, others oppose her. Here is the full regiment. Mixed Manufacturers. Mixed types of Undead. I will post them separatly or in smaller groups for better pics of them all. I will try not to flood the forum, so today the regiment and the first solo/smaller groups. The rest will follow shortly. The Vampire Queens heraldry is red and purple so all the Undead have this colours somewhere. Also as a sign she is mistress of the swamp, her heraldry has a snake in it, variations are found on the shields and banner. Now the horde:
  23. Hello everyone, this one is for all of you Nosferatus, Vampires and Childrens of the Dark lovers. 02867, Matthias the Twisted sculpted by Bobby Jackson.
  24. Years ago, I could not for the life of me find a GW Vlad von Carstein to match the Isabella I got at the FLGS, however I did find Reaper's Gabriel Darkblood which went perfectly alongside her. So in short he was the first Reaper mini I ever bought. Now repainted and ready to subject the world to the scourge of the undead once more.
  25. Unknown female vampire figure I picked up in a boxed game set. Can't remember the exact name or manufacturer. Box art showed them in purple, I wanted to explore other colors. I see her as the kind of vampire that likes to play with her food and enjoys a bit of lively sport. I have 2 of her sisters to do in other colors. The photo is a bit washed out from the flash. Her skin is a pale grey, different than her white gloves. Casting on the face is strange, she has an odd shaped mouth, and no nose so I painted one on.
