It appears to have been a freighter of some sort. The traditional steam engines are not present, though plenty of mounting space exists for their addition. ...as well as a sizeable cargo hold. The interior has the rudiments of partitioning, though he can already see much of it has to go. ...and the local Mechanaether Guild is none too happy. Here they discuss the previous deck configuration - possibly landing strips for smaller Aeronef craft? ...though structures remain on its underside that could be reused for the bridge and other desiderata. Time and budget permitting, the "HMAS Leviathan" (provisional name) could be airborne by 1910. Who knows?

36" from tip to props, The Rim Greaper is a VSF/Steampunk Victorian SciFi flying ironclad ship built from a plastic aircraft carrier toy. In-universe, flight is achieved by electrically charging the Unobtanium plating on the hull, the arc cannons on deck work off the same principle, and the Aetheric Lance on the prow works because the Story Says It Does. She was comissioned by Her Majesty's Royal Navy, constructed by barrister-turned shipwright Sir Andrew St. George, and assisted by the local Mechanaether Guild. Construction took about three weeks of evenings, and painting took maybe five evenings. My son helped a great deal with the concepts and making sure it was a playable surface. The top comes off and attaches to the hull by magnets. The bridge fits inside the superstructure. Dr TG Pendrake presents his latest experiments in Aeronef armor plating. If only suitable minions** were available for hire! **The medieval archery re-enactor is proving quite useless. (5/8ths inch or ~18mm 'plating' cut to a standard length. Follow on experiments may involve an ink wash.) (Thanks to BLZeebub for conjuring up the other name for the material...)

Currently working my way through the Bones I KS Chronoscope set, and painted Ape-X this week. I wanted to paint him to look a little more Victorian Science Fiction than regular futuristic Science Fiction, so I planned on lots of iron and brass along with some natural leathers in my color scheme. I'm really pleased with how this big boy turned out. I had originally been hesitant to paint him due to his size, but I realized after I started that much of the figure is simply skin or fur, and in the end it went rather quickly.
