  1. Hello All, Here are some Dungeon Vermin: Scorpions 77125 I completed a few weeks ago. Thank you for looking.
  2. Hello All, Here are two Barrow Rats I completed painting last week. Thank you for looking.
  3. Dungeon Dwellers 07031, Giant Rat sculpted by Julie Guthrie. The base is 25mm. Is that model already oop? (Should be released in bones USA this year).
  4. Hi All, I haven't posted in a good while, so I thought Id share a pair of pieces that are special to me - Giant Leeches! This was my contribution to bones 4, and it is always a gratifying (and edifying) experience to paint a mini I have sculpted. Despite the special spot in my collection, I didn't go crazy with the paint jobs. It is a pretty basic palate and only took me a day or two to complete. As sculpts, the goal was to make easy to paint minis that filled a gap in the lineup and hit the table pretty often - I think these achieved that. The anatomy was based on observations of several leech species, combined to make it suitably monstrous. Similarly, the green and orange color scheme was based on real critters.
  5. Here's 2 beetle swarms that I knocked out pretty quick this weekend. One basic brown, and the other with a more metallic look to them. Let me know what you think.
  6. Hello everyone, here is a model from the early 80s. Ral Partha 02-912, Giant Rat sculpted by Julie Guthrie. I placed it on a 20mm base and painted in with Reaper MSP paint.
  7. Hello everyone, the madness goes on. On todays menu we have 44105, Giant Maggots. These Bones Black models were sculpted by Kevin Williams. I did a 09282, maggot white and a 09039, pure white glazing on them to give them a transparent and organic aspect.
  8. Here are another pair of Giant Centipedes. I have 6 total of these, and these are the 4th and 5th to receive paint. Simple, bright green with some red eyes and antennae for contrast. C&C welcome.
  9. Last new post for the day. Here is another BONES Tick. I have 2 more and a queen. This is the 4th painted one, and I painted it while I painted the centipedes. I wanted some bright colors and bright markings. C&C Welcome.
  10. Here's my final batch of new painted figures. Bones Giant Centipedes. A staple encounter for low-level adventurers. Still inspired by Reign of Winter. Sadly, Mr. Red got into the snow of Mr. Blue's base! Enjoy. C&C Welcome.
  11. Am getting into the new Frostgrave based game "Rangers of Shadow Deep". The spiders are the smaller Reaper Bones spiders. The rats are from Black Tree Design, and the zombie is an old Grenadier miniature by Mark Copplestone that I brought from EM4. All basic paint jobs, tried to have a bit of a lighter pallette on the spiders in particular, and wanted to make sure they could be used for Frostgrave as well.
  12. Here are two groups of vermin I had the pleasure to throw at the players last weekend. 03394, Rat Swarm sculpted by Sandra Garrity. These are pewter version of the model and I mounted them on 25mm base.
  13. Finally got this guy done. I did the base some time ago, for a competition with water bases with no mini (I didn't win anything). Any comment and critic is very welcome. Thanks for looking.
  14. I've been wanting to paint these rat swarms since I got my Bones I shipment. However, the base was cut into this jagged shape, so I always delayed painting them as I waited on basing them. Finally, I decided to base some with a good heapin' helpin' of sand. The other two got green stuff treatment to try to blend the base that way. One was wood planks, and the other was flagstones. I tried to emphasize fur/hair in the painting. I totally "phoned it in" on the tails, noses and claws. I really didn't want to over-spend time on these guys. Sorry, I realize I didn't give you a good shot of the skull they are swarming over. C&C Welcomed.
  15. I finally finished by Giant Rats Dozen from Bones I. I tried to give them fur texture. The texture from the cast was too light for drybrushing, so it's essentially free hand. The gray rats have some red and green glazed into the shadows to give them a little diseased feel. I spent WAY too much time painting these... Mold lines on the actual rat (as opposed to the base) were too tricky to try to get rid of, especially in light of the subject matter. They’re rats. A lot of them. C&C Welcome.
  16. Bones1 rat swarm, done in a couple hours to kill time while my main project was drying. Tabletop level.
  17. Here are some classic vermin for your viewing pleasure. Still going along with the Reign of Winter theme, I wanted one wintry option. The red one shading/blending got really washed out in the picture. The recesses are splattered crimson, so much darker than this looks. Boy, are these eyes tiny! C&C Welcome.
  18. The two spider swarms from Bones 1, painted to a table top standard. I tried doing a little free hand with some markings here and there to hopefully make them a little interesting. Thanks for looking.
  19. Also from my lunch sessions, these were painted in about 30 minutes all together. The beetles are heavily drybrushed with silver, with a thin transparent glaze of purple, blue and red across different parts of the carapace. Good enough for government work,as they say.
  20. Here's a few pics of my Bones Great Worm, completed during my July paint binge. Here's some pics of rats. I especially like the cow patterned one. WIP is here:
  21. These are the first minis I've finished from my Bones 3 KS loot. An inglorious choice, I guess, but I really like painting simple things between more involved projects. I completed these minis in a single sitting.
  22. I painted these up awhile ago and finally got them varnished. No blog post as these were painted before the blog was started.
  23. Painted back in January, for table top use. Unfortunately I need new lights and my camera is MIA so crappy pictures with the desk lamp and phone it is....../grumbles CC always welcome and yes the "Boss" rat is the one with the skull. 1st level adventurers beware!
  24. Finished these gross guys for my pathfinder campaign. I like the GW blood for the blood god technical paint look for weeping sores.
  25. Painted these guys up a little earlier this month. Since they're for Pathfinder (etc) and they're most often encountered in caves, I went looking for some photos of cave scorpions. I found an example cave scorpion here, which is apparently Arizonan in origin. (Looks pretty nasty. Be careful if you're caving in Arizona, I guess!) Spent about 45 minutes on the pair, so... tabletop quality I guess. My lining was not the best thing ever here and I would certainly benefit from a steadier hand and/or practice!
