Finally finished my copy of Bombshell Miniatures Sister Sergeant Maelee, aka "Heresy" Maelee, their Con exclusive figure from last year. Most time I think I've ever spent on a 28mm figure. Pretty happy with how she turned out. Pigments on the feet look heavier in the pictures than they do in real life.

https://wizkids.com/...games-workshop/ Pretty much what it says on the tin. I'd be pretty shocked to see GW allow Wizkids to produce miniatures, unless they're way out of scale with GW's stuff, but it'll be interesting to see what kind of board games they come up with. I'm also wondering if they're not looking for someone to take the place of the recently expired partnership with Fantasy Flight Games.

Primaris Space Marine (Warhammer 40,000) by Games Workshop This was my first warhammer figure I've ever done. I've always enjoyed the theme of the game but never really like the Space Marines because they are to short. When I saw these new, taller, ones I actually got excited to paint one. The height on these guys are amazing. They really have a better feel about them. The issue was that I only wanted to paint one (for now) and that is when a friendly forumnite told me about this book they just released "Getting Started with Warhammer 40,000." I jumped at the chance at the book comes with one miniature on a nice base for only $15. I called my local GW store and they saved it for me. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to just paint a miniature and not spend loads of cash on a single miniature or a three pack. I decided to go with a blood angel look for this guy. But I wanted to make it look a little unique so I did those grey chevrons on the shoulder and knee. This was also the first time I've done battle damage like you see here. It was FAR easier than I thought and the look is wonderful! I was very happy the way it turned out. With this guy I did fill in the base with GreenStuff to give the model a little bit more weight. You can see that in the WIP below. Thanks for the support. WORK-N-PROGRESS for this piece.

So I finally got this book and began prepping the miniature that came with it. I'm really impressed with the design of the new Primaris. Very well done. To start I felt like the over all miniature needed some more weight to it. I mixed up some sculpty and green stuff and filled in his base and pressed the remaining into his back. It still fits together cause there is a lot of hollow space in him. The only reason I knew it was light was they had a few on display at the Games Workshop store so I got to pick one up.

One of the things I've been struggling with as I assemble my hoards of D&D minis is getting wolves. High-quality, diverse wolf sculpts are actually pretty hard to find, I'm finding - I want a good-sized pack, and while I love Reaper's three-wolf pack in pewter, they're a little smol and gentle looking for my tastes... So I've been booping around Amazon looking for something to burn a giftcard on, and I found something called the Space Wolves: Fenrisian Wolf Pack. This: They look... pretty good, and @ 20$ for 5 they're more expensive than bones but cheaper than pewter (and a steal @ GW prices!) So... has anyone seen/used these? How do they measure up next to Reaper's stuff? I don't mind if they're a little hulking, but they come with 40mm bases, so they sound pretty giant? I do love that there are 5 sculpts though - that's really, really handy, since I'd probably want a good-sized pack... If anyone has a ref. of them next to a Reaper fig, or could take one, I would love you forever~!

I noticed some 40k stuff posted here, and wanted to show off these conversions I made from amazing bits; previously created by Epoch Studios. The miniatures below are used in our Necromunda games, and in Tyranid Attack. An older board game release:

This is a sad story, kind of... About 4 years ago I was just getting into Warhammer 40k and I was the Tau army... I decided to make a piece of terrain I could (justifiably) put in almost every scenario as a fall back point. The story behind it was that the Tau would drop it from orbit and would automatically provide cover and intel., etc. Its was only allow in large scale skirmishes - counting as points in my army. Worked great, I could fall back behind it and shoot through the one way windows and it had a drone that could detach from it and follow around if things got too harry. Alas, I never finished it, what you see here is the last of it... I had to sell it... But I hope it inspires somebody! Materials: A vitamin bottle, a cap to a pill bottle, top half of an antenna, a paper clip, sand, rocks, left over spurs, left over tau mech command antenna's, and Green Stuff. I acutally carved out a Spur pole to fit and entire rack of guns. Above is a place for pistols. Here is the War Map and the concept I had in mind. To the right is a helmet. I actually took a Tau head and carved it out so it looked liked a Commander took his helmet off and placed it there. Took forever to carver it out! I hope you have enjoyed my blast from the past! I THOROUGHLY enjoyed making this. Wish I had some pictures of my Cardboard City stuff I made.

I would like to thank slender troll on my other wip for the advice of a simple photobackdrop. It along with mastering more of my camera will eventually lead me to better results. Today has been one of those near perfect modeling days. So many triumphs outweighed the few negatives. I have been plugging away at making progress while having fun. I had a few to many eureka moments which also led to a knife accident. The first change of many was to utilize new techniques. The last time I had used a diy water pallet left me unpleased. I tried again with much better results. I boiled the parchment paper first then used wet paper towels instead of a sponge. Doing prep work on the minis led me to correctly use a sharpening stone and then promptly slicing my finger. Not bad. It was sharp. And then instead of using water I used water with a few drops of soap in an empty eye drop bottle. I also prepared the surface in a much thorough manner. For those of you hampered by taking notes in the midst of creating art I recommend using your voice recorder on your phone. Quick simple notes then write them down after the session. Well here is a photo of a csm done in huron blackheart army scheme. Tomorrow I will attempt to finish two bones from prep to finish and have them posted in the show off section. I am quite pleased with the smooth paint job and minimal paint strokes. All I need left are two more lamps for the best photos possible. Gracias t-d
