This is actually an older paintjob, but It doesn't look like I have ever shared it. it's simple, but effective - everyone needs a warg. For the wolf fans out there!

Still pretty new to mini painting (a total of 7 done 😅), but was feeling adventurous so took a stab at blending to create some layers in the fur. I only used base coats and dry brushing on the figure. C & C welcome!

This my orc warlord on a warg. It is a Nolzurs deep cuts orc on dire wolf miniature. I did most of the painting in one day, I do need to touch up the base and redo the finish on the flag, but otherwise he is done. I was aiming for a Hound of the Baskervilles look for the Warg. Now he just needs an actual name besides Orc Warlord.... Thanks for looking!

Another Bones figure. I don't paint many non-humanoids, but I liked the way this guy turned out.

Here is a 77437, Winter Wolf I painted in black to make it look like it's a Worg for the purpose of my D&D campaign. This model was sculpted by Sandra Garrity and I mounted on a 25 x 50mm base.

Also to go along with our Reign of Winter campaign. This is the BONES Winter Wolf. I had the most fun with the eyes. Some of the pics came out a little dark, despite 3 lights. It must be a camera thing... C&C Welcome.

Conversion post w Sculpt WIP WIP post. This was originally Bones #77202 that I'd ordered a while back and started sculpting on. Had gotten the sculpt finished a couple months ago between other projects, and have slowly been adding paint since. He's a bit on the dirty looking sode, which is alright as that's what I was going for. Wanted to give him a trail worn look. Added some more coloration and softened things up more than I had originally planned, but I think it worked out. Also, there's a faint detail of blood drops on the front of the base below the Warg's head. As I wanted to add the feeling that they were on the hunt, with the pose and the paint.

Last night in an insomnia fueled start on the painting, I got to laying some basecoats on this conversion. Then a few color layers on the ground and sticks as well as the wolf's fur. Still a lot of work ahead on this one. Wont be picking it up again for a few weeks though. Will update post then. Decided I wanted a beefy goblin ranger riding a warg. And also to get back into miniature sculpting and conversion. Overall he's a little larger than I originally intended (scale-wise), but I'm happy with the details I was able to get into it. Especially since it's the first conversion I've tried in a couple years. White = Bones figure Gray = Procreate putty. Started the conversion in Sept. Added the base details shortly after. Currently the mini is primed and waiting for me to finish off a string of commissions before I can get back to it. Should be finishing him up in Dec.

These gorgeous wolves (Thunderbolt Mountain 8560) are the nicest giant wolf sculpts I have ever seen. They are by the legendary Tom Meier. IMPORTANT: TOM MEIER IS CLOSING HIS THUNDERBOLT MOUNTAIN STORE DEC. 25 OF THIS YEAR, SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, GO THERE NOW! They are pretty big. I mounted them on 1.5" fender washers for extra stability. Tom Meier sells optional goblin riders for them. I had these in an RAFM blister and as I recall their bases said RAFM (I glued them to 1.5-inch fender washers for stability). I haven't been able to identify them. They look like the sorts of giant wolves that are ridden by goblins. I am not sure where they came from. Well, apart from RAFM, obviously. They are pretty big. Here's a size comparison with the RAFM one on the far right: Left to right these are: a wolf from Reaper 02830; a wolf from Reaper 77176; Reaper 03682 Willow Greenivy; a giant wolf from Thunderbolt Mountain 8560; and an RAFM mystery wolf. I painted them as several different types of wolf, one with a snow base and two with grassy bases, for multiple uses. Their bases are 1.5". Extensive WIP with lots of color mixing and technique notes here.

Here's something I have been meaning to do for a while, since apparently I have had Tom Meier's Thunderbolt Mountain pack of three giant wolves (Thunderbolt Mountain #8560) and RAFM's three dire wolves so long I can't even remember when I got them or how on earth I got an RAFM product I can't seem to find mention of on the internet. I also nabbed a set of Reaper's #02830 Wolf Pack, which contains three smaller wolves, still impressively sized next to humans. Here they are, cleaned and glued to bases (all nine wolves were more prone to tipping over sideways than I like). Reaper, on one-inch fender washers: Thunderbolt Mountain, on 1.25-inch fender washers: RAFM, on 1.25-inch fender washers: And here they are together for a size comparison, from left to right: A Reaper wolf from the set, the Bones wolf from the Familiar Set #77176, Reaper's Willow Greenivy #03682, a Tom Meier giant wolf and an RAFM dire wolf. I would say the Reaper wolves are the most classically wolf-shaped. They are a bit large for wolves (see the picture above for scale). They are realistic and look well posed for various purposes. The two larger sets of wolves are almost the size of small ponies and look like they are begging for goblin riders. The Thunderbolt Mountain giant wolves have the elegant long, thin legs Tom Meier gives a lot of his creatures (I have also seen some astonishingly elegant wolfhounds and impossibly graceful insect-like horses from his hand). Here they look maybe almost a little too long and thin, but they are certainly beautifully sculpted, as are the ranks of fur sliding along the animals' forms. Their poses are realistic and expressive. The RAFM dire wolves, as large as the Thunderbolt Mountain ones, are a lot more cartoony. Their faces are kind of pushed-in and piggy and their anatomy doesn't make as much sense. They move oddly, although melodramatically. They definitely have a mood of menace to them. Something was a little off with the casting of the Thunderbolt Mountain wolves. Two of them had little pits along their spines, as though there were just not quite enough pewter in the mold or something. I filled them in with epoxy and tried to smooth it out to match the surface. At the moment the figures are glued but not yet primed. When I paint these, I am thinking of painting them mostly as realistic grey wolves, white arctic wolves, and perhaps some black wolves.

Only had about 45 minutes to paint tonight so I decided to finish the Warg I'd linered yesterday. So another speed paint, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Was thinking of gmork from Neverending Story while painting it.

Hi, While digging through my pile of Bones, I got inspired by the Warg model (by Jason Wiebe) and decided to integrate this as part of my "in-progress" Forces of Nature Army for Kings of War. I chose to make the Warg as a "wild companion" for my druid. The Warg was almost entirely painted using washes and dry-brush (letting the wonderful sculpt do all the hard work). The druid is a metal mini from Mantic. While still being technically a 28mm mini, it is still a lot smaller than Reaper's heroic scale. I went a bit crazy on on the OSL, but this was a poor attempt at hiding/distracting the very sloppy paint job on her face... But it turns out that the OSL kinda fit with my Earth Elemental in this army too. The druid and its wild companion: With the elemental:

This week I completed the Warg figure from the Bones II original figures set. I didn't realize he was a Warg when I started painting him; I just assumed he was a large wolf. So, I decided to paint him as an Arctic Wolf because, as with the rest of the animals I've been doing recently, I was painting him up for Frostgrave. A always, C and C welcome.

Just finished this Warg (Reaper SKU 77202) to be used by our party druid when he shape changes into a Dire Wolf, I modded on the spikes with copper wire as studs and then used ProCreate to sculpt them on. For me, this is just a quick Tabletop+ figure that I enjoyed doing and it'll allow us to have another large wolf miniature at the table when we need it. WIP found here. So I painted up this little lady a month or two ago now, and I've had some fights with her... But now she's based and I've decided what the hell, I'm done with her. Now this is my paladin from my pathfinder group =] she's a half-drow pally with a serious justice thing going on, and also, she's a werewolf, because why not =] Now, she's got an overly huge halberd on her, because my conversions were a bit dodgier in the beginning with regards to scale. I'll probably replace her at some point, because I'm not 100% on her for my character in truth, but what do. For the time being, she's fun enough =] As a werewolf though, I of course needed to get her a werewolf mini! I'm not really into the more humanoid wolf/man type werewolves though, as I tend to find them too muscly and stuff... So I grabbed a Bones Warg instead for her. This was in the fact the very first mini I ever painted, under Drifter's guidance and she's only just gotten based, hence she's not shown up before. So there's Caelan the Pally, in both her lovely forms Now... Paints. Arghh, it's been a while, and right now I'm at Drifter's, so I can't actually access my stack of paints to double check them, so here goes... Kristianna is painted with... GW: Nuln Oil Seraphim Sepia Khorne Red The Blue Glaze that I can't remember the name of right now Fenrisian Grey Auric Armour Leadbelcher White Scar Pallid Wych Flesh or Flayed One Flesh, I honestly can't remember Drakenhof Nightshade And she's got some P3 too: Cold Steel Bloodtracker Brown Umbral Umber The Warg, on the other hand, is painted with... GW: Standard Mechanicus Grey Khorne Red Abaddon Black Nuln Oil White Scar ... I think. I dunno, I'll be honest, it was months ago and it was Drifter's paints ^^; But yush, there we go. A post from me, while I'm away xD but yay, I've learned to base things a bit now, so hopefully everything in future will be more nicely finished These two have Army Painter tufts and turf on them, and sand taken from the beach at Drifter's (because the sand on my beach is kinda icky). Also, bonus fun fact: We found the Raging Heroes Kickstarter for TGG2 today. I just blew £93 on it *facepalm* Ahhh well... What do, eh?

Title is pretty self-explanatory. I did multiple layers of different mixes of Vallejo sky grey, Vallejo london grey, Vallejo german cammo black brown, Reaper shadowed stone, and Reaper pure white for various grey shade highlights on the fur. Also took a lot of mixing of Reaper viper green, pale saffron, and dragon blue to get the eye color I wanted, but I think I succeeded at a menacing yellow-green with them. C&C welcome!

I painted this wolf as a large animal companion for my husband's hunter. The medium sized version of the wolf was painted in April. This kitty was a quick color and pattern check for the wolf. Random Toad!

Hello friends, here are a plethora of different figures I've finished in the past couple months. The Wargs each got about an hour of work and the Hell Hound about 2 hours. As you can see, I didn't slave away trying to remove the mould line on the Hell Hound and wasn't too careful about the Wargs either; just going for some high table top goodness. The Howling Ghoul from Imbrian Arts was a fun and easy figure to paint. Mostly just using pale skin tones and glazes of Gory Red to blend it all in. Lastly the Ogre from Bobby Jackson's latest releases. He was fun an will make a nice mini-boss type ogre for gaming; he was also at ReaperCon.
