So, I guess when Games Workshop broke the clock a few years ago, it started something... ... just announced on the Warhammer Facebook, Warhammer Community, and what-not The League of Votann - Stumpies, Runties... Squats... are coming back. (and there was much rejoicing in the WH40k community)

Got another one in this week. I'm on a roll! Still doing my work on these marines looking for a color combo I really like. I completed Red, Blue, Green, and Black. I've got 2 more color schemes to test, which are Grey and White. We'll see in the coming days how much energy I've got for them. This one came out pretty good. I still need to base and touch up his sword with more color, but he's pretty much done outside of that. Enough for me to post in WIP. The process was pretty good and I'm learning that these sub-assemblies help a TON in getting to those insanely hard to reach spots. I took pictures of what the sub assembly looks like just to what my method was and hopefully helps others struggling.

Citadel has just released (to pre-order - they're coming out next week) a new line of Contrast paints which behave rather differently than conventional minis paints in a number of respects. I recently got a chance to play around with them at my local Warhammer store, and wrote down some initial impressions. Has anyone else gotten a chance to mess around with these, and if so, what was your thoughts on them? (my favorite result down below)

Presenting The Engineer, this hulking monstrosity of flesh and steel was originally another Nurgle-themed baddie from Games Workshops Rogue Trader boxset (like his friend Screamin' Eddie). Not quite as happy with this one as I was with Eddie, for all his details he ended up kinda boring looking, but I was rather pleased with how his fiery belly turned out. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

They called them Renegade. Traitor. Heretic. Just for abandoning the lies of the Corpse-Emperor for the loving embrace of Grandfather Nurgle. They heard his call, they would tend to the eternal garden. Here are some of my last finished miniatures of 2019, I just forgot to upload them to the forums. Field agents of the Inquisition, Crusaders are warriors trained in some of the finest military academies in the galaxy. They provide any group they are assigned to a wealth of knowledge and experience, and a worrisome reminder that the Inquisition is always watching. Presenting Hugo the Crusader, a character class from Warhammer 40k by Games Workshop (this particular one is from the Blackstone Fortress standalone game). This one proved quite tricky, made the classic mistake of getting him assembled and based before checking to see if I could actually get into all his nooks and crannies. He turned out quite good though. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Recently arrived from Japan, here's my work on the Space Marine Heroes III: Death Guard set.

Presenting Cypher, a character from Games Workshops Warhammer 40k range. My version is a mysterious and legendary Space Knight recognisable from the giant sword he carries but never uses, while he normally lives a hermit-like existence on the various, isolated outer worlds, he will occasionally pledge his services to a quest or expedition in exchange for transport off world. Really surprised I got this one finished, he's been on my desk well past the point where I normally get fed up of looking at things, and he's not a mini I'm that interested in (I basically really like his sword scabbard). That he turned out okay too is just a bonus. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting Dr. Helen Matronic, the Field Medic for my Starstrider team of space adventurers. She's trying to escape her demons (both literal and metaphorical) by exploring the furthest reaches of the galaxy. Overall I'm fairly pleased with how she turned out, even if she is a little rough in places (her tunic trim was a bit of a nightmare to paint). As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting Ensign Roxy "Hotshot" Malone, the colour scheme test Voidsman for my Starstriders set. I think she came out pretty well, and the group should look rather striking, when I eventually get the rest painted. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Last on today's finished works, a selection of the Gellerpox Infected from the new 40k Kill Team boxed set, "Rogue Trader" The faction leader, Vulgrar Thricecursed. The Nightmare Hulk that makes me think GW is just teasing us about Mordheim at this point: Gnasher-Screamer, who would also make a great Hag. She's got a built-in coven! Finally got around to take pictures of my Warhammer diorama. I entered it into a local competition, and was lucky enough to win the Warhammer category. Thanks to everyone who wrote a comment in the WIP thread. Here are my Tyranids from the Games Workshop board game Lost Patrol.

Grublicks idly scratched his butt. He was still in his room/cell, waiting for the crew of the trader vessel to decide whether to take him on as their newest crew member or not. He really didn't understand the hold up; hadn't he surrendered to them, and happily sold out the raiders that he had been with? Back home, that would've made him a junior officer at the very least. It was always hard to figure some of the other races different customs, though. Thinking back, it hadn't been a very hard choice; the raiders had underestimated the strength of the vessel they attacked, and got wrecked good and proppa for it. He was pretty sure the raiders had been cheating him anyway; he always seemed to get the worst of the work details, like cleaning the kitchen. On the other hand, he'd miss some of them. He was always able to convince Nentarc to trade work details; Grublicks was convinced that the man had been soft between the ears to so easily agree to cleaning the kitchens instead of working down in the deep sumps. If Grublicks was careful and maybe a little bit lucky, he could always find a couple of sump eels to snack on. He wondered if there were any sump eels on board this ship as he scratched his butt again. I've been on a little bit of a sci-fi kick recently, and decided that all of these one off figures I've acquired over the years might make a pretty interesting starship crew, so I've been trying to tie them together with little bits of story. Whether they'll ever see use in a game is anyone's guess, although I certainly hope so. Thanks for looking.

So I've had a Tau force since the large scale Armageddon event/stuff pretty much happened a good ten years ago, and it's been in a state of "left on the side in the boxes" for a while now.... While I'd love to wrap up my Catachans first, I wound up starting on the Tau simply because I had a few ideas for them come to mind and figured I'd give it a go, and hopefully come up with a cohesive colouration by the time it's all said and done Most of the assembled minis were spray primered in black years ago, and I'm not really a fan of black as my primer anymore (I switched to light grey a while after these guys were primered), so first order of business was to give them a new base coat consisting of two parts white brush on primer, and one part grey liner. The next coat consisted of lava orange (for the orange bits), and then an equal 1:1:1 of Mountain Stone, Terran Khaki, and Desert Sand for the second colour. Sadly, I totally forgot what I did for the "boots", but odds are I'll be changing that colour up as I'm not all the happiest with it at the moment. I also used Ebony Flesh for some quick lining, but I'm still indecisive about my thoughts on such. Follow up coat for the orange was two parts lava orange, one part Dragon Red, and I think it was four drops of water... That's not quite where things are right now though.... They're definitely in the "ugly" stage, since I decided I would experiment with, of all things, a complete wash coat made of Pure Black and about six drops of water... While I did wind up losing a good amount of that gorgeously bright orange, I'm kind of liking how it has this almost "faded off in the sun" burnt feel to it... Next time though I'm going to be more careful about it's application, because wow there's a decent amount of cleanup in some areas. I like how the pants came out though ^_^;;;; I'll have more pics later today, wasn't able to get pics off the G85 with enough time to edit them

Inspired by my acquisition of the new easy-build Blightlord kit and wanting to field some different formations for 40k, I built up a few extra Blightlord Terminators and painted them all up! Here comes Fat Voldemort and the Pants-Poopin' Crew. "Smile, lads!" The whole crew. Fat Voldemort himself. He's just so happy! The Spewer-Crewer: The Reaper Autocannon. The Flail of Corruption: The only guy actually equipped with a Combi-Plasma, which they'll probably all be using: Bone-Guy: Tentacool: Mr. Spikey: The Axeman:

The most recent project has been a return to working on my Nurgle forces for 40k. I'd been finishing up some Plague Zombies I had started before 8th even hit...I'll have more of these guys in the army than the actual Poxwalkers: They were a bit cut out, but you can see the also in progress vehicles in the background. From some fun sales events, I have the bits for so so many Mantic Zombies sitting around, and plan on diversifying the Pox horde to represent most of the 40k forces post-life. Distraction, however, arrived in the form of Marine reinforcement! I love the fact that the new Marine models actually live up to their reputation of gigantic bio-engineered super-soldiers. While it is a bit sad to slowly upgrade my Chaos forces to a more focused Legion, I wound up selling off or trading my older Plague Marines who look silly compared to these new guys. The new models, while having less options and more strict builds, are quite impressive. The Deathshroud basically only have head choices (and a few swap outs for the Champion), but they do stand out: While I plan on converting most of the new character options from the Death Guard codex like the Biologus Putrifier, Foul Bloatspawn, and Ichor-Bearing Gooeycopyrightablename, I had to get the official mini for the Tallyman. Power Abacus!

Primaris Space Marine (Warhammer 40,000) by Games Workshop This was my first warhammer figure I've ever done. I've always enjoyed the theme of the game but never really like the Space Marines because they are to short. When I saw these new, taller, ones I actually got excited to paint one. The height on these guys are amazing. They really have a better feel about them. The issue was that I only wanted to paint one (for now) and that is when a friendly forumnite told me about this book they just released "Getting Started with Warhammer 40,000." I jumped at the chance at the book comes with one miniature on a nice base for only $15. I called my local GW store and they saved it for me. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to just paint a miniature and not spend loads of cash on a single miniature or a three pack. I decided to go with a blood angel look for this guy. But I wanted to make it look a little unique so I did those grey chevrons on the shoulder and knee. This was also the first time I've done battle damage like you see here. It was FAR easier than I thought and the look is wonderful! I was very happy the way it turned out. With this guy I did fill in the base with GreenStuff to give the model a little bit more weight. You can see that in the WIP below. Thanks for the support. WORK-N-PROGRESS for this piece.

Let's get Nurgly, Nurgly! Here's the latest reinforcements for the Brotherhood of Rust, devout followers of Grandfather Nurgle. The (un)Holy Accountant, the Tallyman! "This my Power Abacus!" Those dread bodyguards, high in price in both points and dollars, the Deathshroud Terminators! The rustiest of them all, the Blightlord Terminators: The grunts of any Death Guard force, the ever-versatile and never dying Plague Marines!

I have built a massive power plant terrain piece for use in various science fiction wargames such as 40K, Shadowar Armageddon, Necromunda, Rogue Stars, etc. I used a good portion of three Pegasus Hobbies 4909 - Power Plant Construction Set. This kit has a ridiculous number of parts that can be assembled in a huge number of variations almost as easily as Lego. I have a large number of pipes left over but no more generators and wall panels. I do have some floor panels left over and can remove the generators and stand them on those if I need freestanding smaller pieces or more room in the main piece. Indeed, with a bit of effort I could disassemble the entire thing and reassemble it differently (though I don't see that happening). I intend to mount this to a piece of thin MDF for ease of transport. May eventually paint it but frankly it looks pretty good as it is. Here are photos of the plant from above and from each side. Also included are two of the generators popped out and placed on extra floor panels and a shot of one of them by itself.
