  1. Jaws

    Mawloc, GW

Finished the last model in my Tyranid army for now. All hail the King and Queen. :)
  2. "...And he came upon a dark figure astride a pale horse, the horse was named Pestilence and its rider was Death." Presenting a Chaos Champion of Nurgle from Games Workshop. This is one of the few times where I've known exactly what I've wanted the finished mini to look like before I started painting it, and despite him ending up a bit too purple to be a proper substitute for Death, I'm really pleased with the job I did. As always, any comments or criticisms are greatly appreciated.
  3. This is Dragoth the Defiler and his throne, towered by an Undead Zombie Dragon. He will lead my army in Age of Sigmar. :) Magnetized, so he can change between ruling on his throne, and slaughter from his mount. ^^
  4. The Cursed Company was a regiment of Skeletons, Captained by Richter Kreugar (the Damned). They were dogs-of-war (mercenaries) that could be hired by any other Warhammer army, with three exceptions: the Bretonnians the Tomb Kings and the Vampire Counts. I never heard or read an explanation for what they would do with the money they earned. Games Workshop fluff was always a bit dodgy like that. The backstory was that originally Richter was a living human regiment Captain who had some untoward dealings with a Wizard or Necromancer. He ended up, dead, undead, and in possession of a cursed sword that would instantly turn anything it killed into a skeleton warrior.
  5. So these are some of the infantry types I'm working on for my army to play vs. my son's Necrons. Trying for a piratey theme, so I did the bases like a seashore. At least that's the look I'm going for! I did the bases with heavy gel medium, tried to sculpt some wave forms. Then put down a fine layer of sand with PVA and used brown paint and a dark earth wash. Final step before adding water effects was drybrush with iraqi sand (a light khaki colour). For some of the bigger models I plan to try to add a few more details, maybe a shell here or there, driftwood etc.
  6. Did this Hive Tyrant yesterday/today. He is magnetized to be able to switch between legs and wings. The 'not alien' head is from Epoch Studioz. Overall, I am really happy with this one. Edit: Updating the post with the based miniature. It has some drool, now, too! Alternate version, with all magnetized parts switched out:
  7. Tyranid Hive Prime with headswap:
  8. One of my more recent works, a gobblydegook of Goblins from various manufacturers. Unfortunately, this whole batch suffered a sealant malfunction and had to be rescued...after a few hours of that, I kind of called it done in frustration. I also tried out a suggestion from a previous thread, of using a darker backdrop. This is my kit from Dwarven Forge's first Kickstarter. First off, the Goblins of Golarion, (Pathfinder Goblins from Reaper Bones) A foul witch who practices dread alchemies deep in the woods, armed with her Wand of Exploding and Broom of Bashin', the wicked Baba Yagob (from Confrontation): The most hated member of any tribe, the Bearer-of-Words, who keeps those cursed things away from the goodly Goblins (A Reaper familiar) Some Thugs and ne'er-do-wells (Warhammer Gnoblars and Goblins: Two Goblins brothers who get along swimmingly (Warhammer Goblin Squig Herder) A Goblin who failed his Survival check to identify that mushroom (Infested Goblin from Ganesha Games) A big burly Goblin who claims to be a Barbarian, but who can tell? They're all pretty Barbaric (Reaper Goblin Barbarian) The most important members of the tribe, the Master-of-Meals and Bringer-of-Brews, (an old 40k Grot and a Gnoblar) And some gobbledygook shots:
  9. Finished this fellow last Thursday during a GW painting event: Update: Made this fellow a sort of display base, so he can adorn my shelf in all his splendor. :P
  10. There was a mini painting contest/showcase at my local Games Workshop store for the 30th anniversary, so I decided to finally get around to painting one of my models for it! This guy is the first space marine I've painted :D
  11. Jaws

    GW Zombie

I needed to post one of these. It's the first of 20. And I'll have to paint 20 more. Soon they'll just be a blob of brown and red. It's a pain..
  12. Here's a piece that I painted up for a Dark Eldar force that I've been adding to over the years. My client had the idea of having him missing most of his skin. I'm definitely keen on adding gruesome details like that to minis. So, here he is:
  13. Really just gave him a decent weapon. I think he looks the part.:

    Solitaire

Here is another Harlequin Solitaire that I got to have a go at. The challenge was to do him up in black and white, but it was all about the subtle differences in the black- some of it has a little more red and some a little more blue to it, and I actually went through quite a few other colors as I highlighted it up. Hopefully, some of those things show up in the pictures:
  15. Okay, so I got a bunch of Moonrakers almost free minis. Didn't expect much, but these are really not getting the credit they are due on the website images. Here they are: It's time to slap some paint on them, and I sort of want these fellows to be more colourful than my existing gangs. Here are some hair color testing on the first few lucky ones.:
  16. Hello all! I recently painted up a miniature for a painting competition, and while I didn't place in the category I was entering, I still learned a heck of a lot. One of my biggest lessons is to start earlier! I wanted to do some more things with her, like painting her gems, a cool leopard print fur cape, some tattoos, etc. But, alas, I was not able to get to it. Regardless, please check her out! And my whole army! If you wanna see a video series on all the things I learned, checkout this video:
  17. I had some bits left over after the CMON Not-Conan mini, and decided to use them on a Chaos Marauder. The Axe, head and uh, lobbed-off head are the bits that was left.:

    Empire Captain

Presenting an Empire Captain by Games Workshop, his WIP thread can be found here. Always liked the Empire faction with their fancy striped pants, and this guy was no exception. Had fun painting him too, except his cape (Grr... Capes! *Shakes fist angrily*). Came with a really tiny base, so I just gave him a basic grass one. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  19. Finished these tonight. I think I've posted the vampire before, but I based her, so that's new. Now I am just missing three dregs, and the warband is ready to play:
  20. Making a Mordheim warband mostly for fun, as I don't have any locals to play with, but maybe it can create a little wave among the local Necro players. :D So I bought these really cool minis from Heresy. Three ghouls and a necromancer. I am going to need five ghouls total, three dregs and a vampire, but first things first. I've based them and shaded, and are currently waiting for them to dry: Based bronze skin tone: Shaded with plenty of Agrax Earthshade: Could not help myself. The necromancer was pointing at something, and I added another 'finger' from the sprue remains. Based with grey:

    Chaos Lord

One last guy I finally got pictures of. Chaos Lord from Games Workshop.
  22. Painted these up for my FLGS's monthly contest. This month's theme was "brotherhood." My mind immediately went to the French Revolution, and its motto of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. Only got the one picture before I tossed it to the game store and went to drive to spend Thanksgiving with my folks. I might toss some more up when I get them back.
  23. Jaws

    GW, Daemonette

I was fairly happy with this one until I took photos. See that I have managed to clot the paint a little much. Don't want to fiddle with her anymore though. The little tree is made from a dried grape-wine. :/
  24. Here's a force I've worked on in a few batches. The concept for the force is that the Wraithguard are all ancient machines that the Exodites maintain, while riding dinosaurs into battle. Here's the force's farseer, and three Wraithguard that I added recently.
  25. This is a pretty old fellow (you can see that the paint have flaked off some places due to tabletop use) that just got a new base. I never liked the "invisible man" look, so I once upon a time gave him limbs from a broken warhammer skeleton:
