1. Another mini which has been done for a while: a raptor. This was meant for a module that uses a raptor hatchling as an animal companion for a kobold Ranger. Here is a link to the WIP. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/87634-14475-warlord-raptor-reptus/&tab=comments#comment-1856740 C&C welcome.
2. I totally haven’t looked up this character’s name. He’s great. He’s an orc. Bones 4. Blah blah blah. Anyways, I stopped painting orc-face mc-Orc doodle the orc prematurely out of painting fatigue. I had lots of other shiny new bones to paint. It’s a great sculpt and he deserves respect though. So let’s try this! If you’ve got improvements to suggest I’ll implement them and post a new picture. It could be fun and you’ll motivate a fellow nerd to “brush up” and turn a decent job into a great job - which is one place I could use encouragement. You can of course call it done anytime you like, but sometimes you know the figure needs more. This will be a fun exercise.
3. Hello forum family, slowpainter is back this time I was a bit faster, prolly 'cause this mini was really easy to paint. For obvious reason the palette of my choice is cold. Used various tones of blues trying to make contrast and not stay monochrome. A bit of gold and some rusty metal and she is done. Every c&c is more than welcome, let me know if you like her :) Thanks
4. just wishing to put this out there, but what are the chances of warlord coming back, hopefully with the success of bones reaper can really hammer our full fledged army boxes. i only ask this as warlord was my very FIRST miniatures game and heck it was the first miniatures i ever bought and wish to see it again even if its just bones army sets or something. maybe even a third edition possibly. i mean am i alone in wanting warlord back?
5. This is an animal companion to a kobold Ranger in a module. The character art has it light green with dark green stripes. A little cliche, but I don’t care. There are two arm choices. I went with the ones making it look like he was grabbing something. Got him ready with white primer.
6. Hi everyone. Here is the fifth Orcs I painted last week. 14198, Gangorak the Reven Hero sculpted by Ben Siens. I painted it with Reaper's MSP acrylic paint and ink.
7. Hey everyone, here is 14292, Orc Standard Bearer sculpted by Ben Siens. This model is part of the Reven faction. I painted a Gruumsh One-Eye symbol on the gonfalon to suite my DnD campaign need. I used Reaper's MSP acrylic paint and ink.
8. Good day everyone, here is 14292, Orc Musician sculpted by Ben Siens. This model is part of the Reven faction. I painted it with Reaper's MSP acrylic paint and ink.
9. Hi everyone, it's an Orcish Weekend. Here is 14270, Dantral the half-Orc, Reven Captain sculpted by Gene Van Horne. This model is from the Warlord line and part of the Reven faction. I painted it with Reaper's MSP acrylic paint and ink.
10. As some of you know, @buglips*the*goblin and I paint some German Infantry of WWII for Warlord Games tabletop game Bolt Action - or another similar set of rules. You can find our WIP thread ->here<- But though the key to success is hard work, all good projects some when end somewhere. To celebrate this, we decided to set up a Show Off thread. So ... enjoy what we come up with until all of our Germans are painted ... (which will be in ten years or so) First off - the first 5 men of my winter unit. Enjoy More to come! @buglips*the*goblin You're next.
11. @SisterMaryNapalm and I both have some German Grenadiers (and I think he was some Fallschirmjager as well) that we are working on, and since that's a fine coincidence I thought it would be fun to share a thread with our work on them. I know we're at least using somewhat different paints, and possibly also different methods, so it might be interesting to see how they turn out. These are mine from the Bolt Action Band of Brothers starter set. I have another squad, but all of those are wearing standard Feldgrau uniforms so they're represented here by the Leutnant with binoculars and map, and the NCO with field cap and submachinegun. Most of the others are wearing camouflaged tent quarters, so that should prove... challenging. At this stage, I've assembled them, primed them with stynylrez, and they've got a coat of VMC Feldgrau that I darkened 50/50 with Reaper Brown Liner. They're more assembled than I'd probably prefer, but I'm used to figures with fewer pieces so I haven't quite got a working method worked out for multipart multioption plastic figures yet. I don't expect it will be too much trouble. I hope not, anyway. Apologies for any craptacular photos, I'm compelled to use my ancient Galaxy S3 and haven't yet replaced my camera. Frankenphone sometimes works, and sometimes it calls in sick.
12. My painting time is pretty limited these days, but I still fit it in here and there. I find elementals to be excellent and relaxing subjects for brief speedpainting sessions; their crude natures are very forgiving for the time-constrained. This guy is a pretty hefty piece of metal & a nice unique sculpt.
13. This is Reaper's 14388 Blackfreef Pirate from their Warlord range. He is part of my Lost World Project, there he is Toni the First Mate of the Swordfish. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=139
14. I started painting these in 2007! I had received two sets on clearance from a gaming website. I picked them up again briefly in 2011. I had just purchased a bunch of Vallejo Game Colors. I recently picked them up again to get them off the shelf of shame that they seemed to be permanent fixtures of. Sadly, the VGC Paints were not able to salvage. One of them was more done than the others, so he looks a little different. The front right of the first picture. I finished them off quickly with Reaper paints. This was the first time I primed minis white, then built up layers of very thinned basecoats. It made these guys much brighter. Sorry some of the pics are out of focus. I am thinking to do the next set more black/red or more of a realistic lizard scheme. Enjoy.
15. Another one off my shelf of shame, rebased years ago on what I think is a Micro Arts Studio base. I was really trying to continue getting better at NMM, and was also trying to work some natural wolf colors onto the fur for more complexity.
16. Here are some Reaper Warlord Necropolis faction zombies, painted up as swamp zombies in a speed paint for Ghost Archipelago.
17. My wizard Malak and his apprentice Grubb for my Frostgrave team. The wizard is Xi-Han is from GCT's Bushido game and then his apprentice is Lunk. This guy came with a bigger mini that is supposed to be a mutated him that I'll need to paint some other time. Fairly happy with the hat and mushrooms and frog. should have doen something more for his mustache though. It looks ok in person at least. Not super happy with my snow base results this time. Grubb here might see action as his alter ego Lunk from time to time so his base is just a stone base. Most of their crew is done as well. I'll get a group shot when they are all done. (Including the replacements for my lone casualty in our first real game.)
18. Hello folks, so sort of discovered the warlord game while browsing through the website and it has jumped out at me as something fairly interesting to jump into. More specifically after a tour of reaper HQ at reapercon and seeing some minitures, I did not relieze that there was a mini game attached to some of the ones I really liked the look of. However some of the newer factions from the savage north ones have no fluff about them on the website, more specifically the sisters of the blade. Can I get a possible faction rundown on the SN factions?
19. Been awhile since I posted anything so posting the work I've done since last post.
20. back after a 5-month hiatus, and man, the brush was shaky. here's one of my guys who's almost certainly going to die in curse of strahd. hope you like.
21. Another Snake Warrior for my Lost World. WIP Here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=120 This is Reaper Warlord 14187 Ssathuss. A Nagendra Warrior.
22. I finished this guy Friday night, he was a rescue from the melt table at last Reapercon. He was relatively quick to paint, and pretty fun, too. Some of the shading I did on his 'belly' scales is hard to see due to the angle of the pics, but what you see on his bottom half is also present on his chest area, too. I got his eyes looking pretty good (although to be fair, they are a bit bigger than the average human sized figures eyes). I had thought about giving him some patterns on his scales, but decided against it. The base was one of the first ones I've done using base stamps; I'm not entirely happy with it, but it's not awful, either. More practice both with the stamps, and with what material I use for the base is in order. This one was straight Green Stuff. Thanks for looking, please let me know what you think. ETA----I put 2 SKU numbers in the title because he is available either by himself (14423) or in a multi-pack with 9 total figures (06155).
23. Updated photos of General Matisse I painted a few months ago. Would appreciate any c&c. Please enjoy.
24. This is Julie Guthrie's 14181: Osric, Necropolis Hero, a vampire in armor with two swords from Reaper's Warlord game. As I painted him I have been thinking of him as "Creepy chihuahua vampire dude". There is no WIP thread, although I would happy to discuss techniques, art philosophy or what have you.
25. I recently got the set 06173: Shadow Sisters. It consists of four of the figure on the left and five of the one on the right. Only, that’s not quite what they look like. The figure on the right has an extra cape piece. The figure on the left has lacing up the middle seam of her cape. The figure on the right’s cape has a similar seam right at its edge and there is a separate cape piece (not depicted) of another half of the cape. There is a little nubbin to affix the cape which goes into a little socket in her left shoulder. It looks like it could be a precarious pinning job. The cape piece looks like it could possibly be glued in from a variety of angles, from matching the seam of the integrated cape to flying dramatically back. I tried to find out the official position, only to find that in the store photo above the second cape piece is not included. May I ask, what was the original artist’s intent for the second cape piece?
