    Warlord Rising novel

I just finished reading Warlord Rising by Michales Joy and man, was it a fun read. I admit it's not the deepest fantasy novel I've ever read, but if you love Warlord and want to delve into an adventure in that setting I highly recommend the book. The author incorporates all 10 Taltos factions and even hints at some of the factions from Northern Adon. I a real sucker for fluff and you really get to see the relationships the factions have with each other. I think I might even start a Savage Worlds campaign in the Taltos setting. Has anyone else read the book and what are your thoughts without giving any spoilers out for those who might want to pick it up.
  2. This Saturday, May 11th we are have a BONES swap meet, after the meet there will be a game of King of the Hill. for those wanting to participate the details and rules are below. Each player will control one 350 point troop. Players may bring their own troop or use one of the ones we will have on hand. The board will be a 4x4 table with a hill in the center. On the hill is a 3 inch circle. The object is to be the player with the most damage tracks in the circle at the end of the turn. For Example: Player one has 3 goblin models with one damage track each and Player 2 has DeathSleet with 2 wounds. Player one would have 3 damage tracks while Player 2 would have 4. Player 2 would have control of the hill. If a player loses all the models in his troop all the players models re spawn at the bottom of the hill at the start of the next turn. The game will start at 3:00 and go until 6:00 or until we get tired of running up the hill. Trophies will be given to the player that holds the hill for the most turns and the player with the most kills. The store details are: Heroes Haven Games & collectibles 1277 Lexington Ave., Mansfield, Ohio 44907 https://www.facebook...eam&viewer_id=0 and the original swap meet thread is here: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49002-bones-swap-meet-may-11th-mansfield-oh/ Hope to see you there!

    ReaperCon 2013 Warlord Tournament

The ReaperCon 2013 Warlord Tournament will be a 3 round tourney, with each round lasting approx 105 minutes (1 hour 45 minutes). Each player will bring a single 1000 point army list and play that same army list for all three rounds. Players will be allowed to choose faction doctrines to be in affect before the start of each round. The ReaperCon 2013 Warlord Tournament will be held at the Hotel this year. Some people know that from a different thread, but I am restating it for those that missed this information. Subject to change based on Reaper's needs, the start times (that means deployment time) for each round are currently set at... Round 1: 9 am - 11 am Round 2: 11 am - 1 pm Round 3: 2 pm - 4 pm This schedule allows players to get in their three rounds and still be able to go back and enjoy some time over at the main Reaper campus or other offerings at the hotel. We know that a majority of people are attending to take painting and sculpting classes, we know that even with having the earlier start time for the tourney it will still conflict with some class times. We try our best to make the tournament available to everyone by offering it twice. That is to say, there will be a tournament on Friday, and a tournament on Saturday. You can choose which day to participate. But, you must be able to participate in all three rounds on the day that you choose. At this time, a maximum of 12 people can register per day on a first come first served basis for the tourney for a total of 24 available slots. Consider this thread as the sign up sheet to reserve your spot in the tournament. I will update the list below as people sign up. In the spirit of a Dark Circus theme, the style of the tournament this year will be a little different than prior years. Instead of having 3 different known scenarios that each player will play, this year, each round of the tourney will be a straight up kill them all to the last man standing battle. But, of course we will be adding some random circus tricks and traps that also must be accomplished along the way. These items will be random in each game based on a flip of the card, roll of the dice, etc... You might have the enemy right where you want them, lined up in your sites, when the next flipped card gives you 1 turn to accomplish something an unrelated goal in order to earn a victory point. How you are able to handle the commands of the card flips and still destroy your enemy will determine how well you do in the tourney. Tournament specific rules for the ReaperCon 2013 Warlord Tournament: 1) All models using the Swift Attack ability must have space to make base to base contact with the enemy model they wish to attack on their action. 2) When using the Summoned (Demon) SA granted by the Gate ability of the Demonic Conclave doctrine for the Darkspawn faction, demons summoned in this manner must be of equal or lesser point value than the summoning model. 3) Sir Broderick, Justicar is allowed to lead Justicar soldiers. 4) The abilities gained by the Howl portion of the Koborlas "Call of the Wild" Doctrine can be used as a free action once per game turn. If you have any questions, post them here and I will do my best to answer them promptly. EDIT 3-27-2013: You must turn in your 1000 point roster before the start of the first game. As an incentive, any player that emails (or private message me here on boards) me their final roster by Wednesday April 17th at 6 pm CST, will receive a bonus personal Victory point objective card that will give you the opportunity to earn an additional victory point that you can use during any one of your games. EDIT 4-1-2013: One thing to note, although there has never been a rule stating that one must field a painted army, last year Ed gave a $75 Reaper credit reward for the best painted army in the tourney. just something to think about....

    Okay to Mix and Match?

Hi, I'm looking for miniatures for players and NPC's (humans, half-elves, elves, dwarves, halflings, the occasional half-orc). I play both D&D and Pathfinder, on either a 1" grid or a 1" hex. Reaper's Pathfinder miniatures will, obviously, suit my purpose. My question is, can I mix them with miniatures from the warlord set and the bones set? I'm guessing their relative sizes will be correct, because they are all a 25mm scale. But will their bases fit together on the 1" grid/hex? Sorry if this has been asked before, I could not find an answer. Cheers, Barak.

    VA painters/gamers

A couple of months ago, I threatened mentioned a possible trip to the Norfolk VA area. It was just confirmed that my trip is a go. I'll be there for training but that still leaves me with my evenings and weekend free. As I'm bringing my paints with me I'd like to get together with any local painters and exchange tips/techniques. If anyone is interested in a game of Warlord, I cold bring some of my figures as well. I'll be there from the 15th-23rd or April. Anyone interested in meeting up feel free to reply in this post or or PM me. As a bonus I'll be bringing some of the new Bones with me to paint so you can get a preview if you haven't received your Vampire package yet.

    Fellow Painter Locator

Hey guys, I have tried searching the forums but must be missing it - is there a thread or something that people can list when they are looking to find fellow painters and players? Thanks!
  11. The past couple of years, the folks at Comicpalooza here in Houston have been trying to get me to bring my dungeon crawl over for their con. Unfortunately, it usually falls around the last weekend of May, which meant that it has usually followed ReaperCon by just a few scant days. Now, Terri is fairly supportive of my gaming, but even I'm not dumb enough to try back-to-back weekends like that. This year, however, ReaperCon is a month earlier, so I agreed to run the crawl at Comicpalooza. It falls over Memorial Day weekend. I'll be running the crawl 3 slots on Saturday (bascially all day long) and 2 slots on Sunday. Since I'm spanning both days, I'll be using my usual format of awarding prizes to the top players from each table, but also keeping track of the overall top scores, convention-long, on a leader-board at the table. The top 3 scores from the entire con will receive additional prizes! So, if you are local, or even just mostly-local, you might want to come check the event (and the con) out. If I get lucky enough to get my Bones shipment before it gets too close to the con, I might even have Kaladrax out on the table, painted. Regardless of whether or not Kaladrax makes it in time, I will still have over 100 painted Reaper miniatures in use on a massive 4'x8' board constructed by yours truly from Hirst Arts casts, and I can guarantee that some of those figures will be painted Bones from the KS. See you there! ~v
  12. I love Razig's army, but was never fond of Razig himself as a sculpt (either version) until last year when Bobby Jackson did his take on him... (I hope to get all the army together and get a shot of them tonight)
  13. So I just picked up the Warlord 2nd edition rule book in preparation for my Kickster Bones to arrive and I am wondering if there are any established rules for Neutral Monsters with in a game. I am thinking of a battle setting where one of the dragons I bought might show up and am just wondering if anyone has done anything like this and how to balance the addition of a neutral entity. Thanks

    14029, Captain Razig

Here's my grim Captain Razig with his Crow familiar. This model was sculpted by Werner Klocke. It's my entry for the winter 2013 painting excuse in the single figure category. Comments are very welcome!

This is my Dragonborn Warlord in my buddy's current DnD game. I went for copper dragon scales. This is my first attempt at oxidized copper touches, and at doing 'colored armor'.
  16. Hello. My name is Joaquim and this is my first post in this forum, althought I've been lurking here for quite a while. I'm from Portugal and I've been playing Warlord for some time now. I love wild west games and I've played a few but I always flet that they lacked something. I read Cowboys & Gunslingers and I was drawn to it instantly. But I had to add some details that I think that belong to this particular system. Some s abilities and the Leader and Troops rules. I've played twice since and it worked pretty well. Please let me know your oppinion about it. Abilities Leader A leader can lead troops (0-3) (0-5) (0-8) and add +1 to their DIS. Horse Ride A model can ride a Horse. The stats are the same. MOVE becomes always 9. It adds 1 to his DV and substracts 1 to his RAV while in the back of a Horse. It takes one action to mount and dismount. Born in a Saddle The figure is complete at ease when mounted in a Horse. It doesn't subtract to his RAV and mounts and dismounts as a free action. Fast Draw When firing or making a Defensive Shot, this model strikes first. The damage it makes will be done before the adversary fires. Troops Cowboys Rank: Troop DT: 0/1 Move: 5/4 DIS: 6/5 DV: 8/7 EXP: 2/1 SA: Tough/1, Born in a Saddle MAV: 3/2 #MA: 2 RAV: 4/2 #RA: 1 SA: Rng(4), Ammo/12, Reload/2 or Rng(12), Ammo/15, Reload/2 Gunslingers Rank: Troop DT: 0/1 Move: 5/4 DIS: 6/5 DV: 9/8 EXP: 2/1 SA: Tough/1 MAV: 3/2 #MA: 2 RAV: 4/3 #RA: 2 SA: Rng(4), Ammo/12, Reload/2 or RAV: 4/3 #RA: 1 Rng(12), Ammo/15, Reload/2 Outlaws Rank: Troop DT: 0/1 Move: 5/4 DIS: 5/4 DV: 9/8 EXP: 2/1 SA: Tough/1 MAV: 4/3 #MA: 2 SA: Bloodlust RAV: 4/3 #RA: 2 SA: Rng(4), Ammo/12, Reload/2 or RAV: 4/3 #RA: 1 Rng(12), Ammo/15, Reload/2 Deputies Rank: Troop DT: 0/1 Move: 5/4 DIS: 6/5 DV: 9/8 EXP: 3/2 SA: Tough/2 MAV: 4/3 #MA: 2 RAV: 4/3 #RA: 2 SA: Rng(4), Ammo/12, Reload/2, Disarm or RAV: 4/3 #RA: 1 Rng(12), Ammo/15, Reload/2, Disarm Rangers Rank: Troop DT: 0/1 Move: 6/5 DIS: 7/6 DV: 9/8 EXP: 3/2 SA: Tough/2, Ranger/4 MAV: 4/3 #MA: 2 RAV: 4/3 #RA: 2 SA: Rng(4), Ammo/12, Reload/2, Disarm or RAV: 4/3 #RA: 1 Rng(12), Ammo/15, Reload/2, Disarm And that's it for the Cowboys and Gunslingers for now. As for Galactic Warlord ;) I've been struggling with scifi weapons and abilities. I'd like to have your ideas on this. Not weapon ranges, or special abilities, but modifiers to RAV. Should RAV be only accounted on the figures capacity or weapons should modify this? Thanks in advance and a Happy New Year for you all.

If you've been following my WIP, you'll see where I put the clear varnish on the gems. I put the static grass down. I put it on a bit thicker than I wanted to, but the first attempt was too thin.

    First Victory!!!

It's only taken me about fifteen games of Warlord, and switching to a different army, to finally achieve victory over the Dwarves!!! I'm not the swiftest cat, even on a good day, so it takes me a lil' while to learn a game, even one with elegantly simple mechanics like Warlord. I'm no tactictal genius, but I do like to wargame. I heartily applaud the Reaper game team for this game. Any game that you are loving enough to tough out losses until you get a victory is a real treat. My Reven have still never beaten the Dwarves. It took Boris Mingla and his Mercs to pull off the task. I was pleased as punch, even with many unpainted models on the table. I'll have to post my custom Boris Mingla in the show off section when he's done. He's even street legal, made up of two different Reaper models!!!

    Giant Bases

Will Reaper carry/make a 2 inch square base in Bones or other plastic for all the big beasties for gaming?
  20. I attended PAX-East back in April and tried the Reaper Mini Paint a Mini for an Hour and have been hooked on painting minis ever since. This is the first post-PAX mini I painted.
  21. So I've decided to paint/repaint the Overlords army I bought to play Warlord version 1 many years ago. I have no idea how long this project will take or honestly, if I will even complete it. The boxes of unpainted WHFB in my closet indicates I'm not very good at army painting. That said, I will give this project my best shot and will certainly paint some of it Here is what I have: Troops 8 x 14360 Overlord Warrior 4 x 14413 Overlord Spear men 4 x 14400 Overlord Crossbowmen 1 x 14391 Onyx Phalanx Warlords 14267 General Matisse 14003 Ashcrypt Captains/Sergeants 14091 Corvus, Sergeant 14147 Andras, Captain 14283 Merack, Sergeant 14258 Count Lorenth, Captain 14283 Merack Casters/Heroes/Monsters 14127 Arik, mage 14004 Ymrilix the False, hero 14035 Balthon, cleric 14122 Onyx Golem Mounted 14177 Onyx Chevalier 14258 Count Lorenth, Captain Those are what I have in hand. My memory also tells me I own Ranthe Evangelist of Kardulus, Moraia Warbride of Kardulus, 3 more Onyx Phalanx, 1 more overlords warrior, 2 more crossbowmen, & Iks Sergeant. Whether these will be found or not is unknown. Main concern: army color. What oh what color do I paint all those robes? The overlords sure go to war in style don't they? In my mind's eye those robes are red, the armour is dark. Classic bad guy color, continues the war of blue (crusaders) and red, black and red look great together. Problem with red is of course - the pink & yellowish orange problem of painting in red. Not sure I need to put myself through that. Other possibilities: midnight blue (that could be pretty cool), royal purple (the challenge of Barney), dark green (what, defenders of the wilderness?), grey (wow that would be boring with all that armour). Any thoughts? Minor concern: Onyx Golem Perhaps the ultimate in "meh" sculpts. No idea what to do with this guy to make him awesome except replacing him with another mini or putting him on a towering base so everyone who sees him says "wow what an awesome rock!" and ignores the boring mini. Any thoughts? Very minor concern: Buy moar naow! Suggestions for future shopping list appreciated. My rulebook should be here on Friday or Monday so I will use that to see who I want to paint first when it comes to character/warlord/sergeant models. If history is any guide these guys are unlikely to ever take the field (they've only been in games I demoed back during 1st ed.) but this will be a fun project that only costs money I spent long ago. Wish me luck!

    Bases in the online store

Before I place my next order could one of the Reaper people answer a question about your Battle Bases? Are these bases the same as the ones packaged with the Warlord range? To clarify, they are the one inch, plastic bases, with the sexy raised edge on them. Back in aught four, some of the Warlord models were packaged with regular square bases, but I'm really after the Reaper ones, as I've taken to calling them. Any help appreciated, Joshua
  23. I was searching through the events at GenCon this year and saw or rather didn't see a Warlord tournament. This kinda bummed me out. I had so much fun at last year's tournament I was hoping to enter again this year. In fact, I didn't see any Reaper sponsored events except a speed painting competition. No Dragon's Night Out, no Reich of the Dead, and no intro to Warlord games. Anyone know anything about this? Am I searching wrong or have the events not be entered yet?
