  1. back after a 5-month hiatus, and man, the brush was shaky. here's one of my guys who's almost certainly going to die in curse of strahd. hope you like.
  2. Another Snake Warrior for my Lost World. WIP Here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=120 This is Reaper Warlord 14187 Ssathuss. A Nagendra Warrior.
  3. I finished this guy Friday night, he was a rescue from the melt table at last Reapercon. He was relatively quick to paint, and pretty fun, too. Some of the shading I did on his 'belly' scales is hard to see due to the angle of the pics, but what you see on his bottom half is also present on his chest area, too. I got his eyes looking pretty good (although to be fair, they are a bit bigger than the average human sized figures eyes). I had thought about giving him some patterns on his scales, but decided against it. The base was one of the first ones I've done using base stamps; I'm
  4. Updated photos of General Matisse I painted a few months ago. Would appreciate any c&c. Please enjoy.
  5. This is Julie Guthrie's 14181: Osric, Necropolis Hero, a vampire in armor with two swords from Reaper's Warlord game. As I painted him I have been thinking of him as "Creepy chihuahua vampire dude". There is no WIP thread, although I would happy to discuss techniques, art philosophy or what have you.
  6. I recently got the set 06173: Shadow Sisters. It consists of four of the figure on the left and five of the one on the right. Only, that’s not quite what they look like. The figure on the right has an extra cape piece. The figure on the left has lacing up the middle seam of her cape. The figure on the right’s cape has a similar seam right at its edge and there is a separate cape piece (not depicted) of another half of the cape. There is a little nubbin to affix the cape which goes into a little socket in her left shoulder. It looks like it could be a p
  7. This is Julie Guthrie's 14528: Rageclaw Slayer, a very large werewolf (the base is 40 mm). Oh, and apparently this is the first Warlord figure I've painted. WIP thread here.
  8. Howdy, For my twenty-fourth day of International Mini Painting Month I present Battle Nun, Crusader Adept from the Warlord line... Kev!
  9. Howdy, For my twenty-first day of International Mini Painting Month I present Majeda from the Warlord line... Dual wielding class with Sister Majeda? Lucky! Kev! P.S. Armor colors used: Gun Metal Gray and Gun Metal Blue; Habit colors used: Corporeal Shadow and Void Blue
  10. Howdy, For my twentieth day of International Mini Painting Month I present the Incarnation of Flame from the Warlord line.. Sh!t's on fire, yo! Kev!
  11. Howdy, For my seventeenth day of International Mini Painting Month I present the Blood Glutton from the Warlord line... I could not find a painted example, Kev!
  12. Howdy, For my eighth day of International Mini Painting Month I present Sister Elena, BattleNun from the Warlord line... Kev!
  13. Howdy, For my seventh day of International Mini Painting Month I present Saproling Warrior from the Warlord line... Another quick one, Kev!
  14. This is another of Julie Guthrie's beautiful giant werewolves, part of the Warlord Koborlas faction. This is my second Warlord figure painted. It was an attempt to make a gender-ambiguous werewolf, and as such I shaved down the chest armor a bit. Full WIP here. Aislinn may be howling or sniffing the air or fighting a giant. Looking up at any rate. WIP thread here.
  15. While I have been painting realistic wolves, I have also been working on some of the gorgeous giant wolfmen sculpted by Julie Guthrie for the Koborlas faction in Reaper's "Warlord" game. This is #14528, the subtly-named "Rageclaw Slayer", or the testosterone-poisoned werewolf a friend of mine requested. He's a big puppy; I include a copy of Reaper's 60164, Vampire Hunter, for scale: This is my standard priming of a thin layer of Titanium White followed by a thin wash of diluted Burnt Umber, using my favorite Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics. I left the base white in o
  16. This is a fresh start for a thread I feel I knocked off kilter. I feel it may be justified in that I've finally started actually painting the creature. This is Reaper's 14532: Aislinn, Shadow Tracker, a large werewolf (the base is a 40mm square) from the Koborlas faction in their Warlord game. I had a request from a player for a werewolf who can shift genders and appear gender ambiguous, and this seemed a good place to start. The sculpt is meant to be female, but it is lean and muscly and not over-bosomy. I filed it down somewhat and off we go. ... I don't seem to h
  17. YAY! Clearance items begotten from Game Kastle and I managed to find not one but TWO of the minis from my wishlist in their clearance!! WOOOHOOO! HERALD OF BLOOD This golem or construct of the gnomes from deep within the world is brilliantly painted by Martin Jones in the Reaper Catalog: Painted by Martin Jones And while I didn't want his work to influence mine I will be doing at least two things the same: A. Glowing Runes and Eyes B. Not Stone Spikes I assembled this gentleman first with the idea of "ful
  18. this model whooped me a little and i rushed it off my bench to meet a game deadline on another model, but i couldn't find a painted version of this mini so ... bon appetit!
  19. This is the mini that I painted for Fanguad for the Spring Exchange. Got it out late due to life interfering and had to be satisfied with a more simple paint job then originally planned. Please excuse the photo quality, I had no time to get everything out to take proper ones.
  20. My latest. I base coated with Army Painter matte black then dry brushed with Citadel Astorath Red. A wash of Citadel Carroburg Crimson to finish off the red. I then trimmed with AP gold. The base was just some simple Citadel texture paint. kinda turned out pretty Khorne-ish. Let me me know what you think.
  21. This ended up being a speed paint, the patterns and fiddly bits just painted up super quick, around 2 hours. I painted her just so I could glue her cloak on. Added two mushrooms I had laying around from previous putty leftovers.
  22. Thought I would Try my hand at something different. My dad ordered the Band of Brothers learn to play bolt action set, Knowing him it would never get built or painted so I took it apon myself to expand my painting portfolio and get some amazing historical miniatures under my belt. The plan was to shoot for right around tabletop standard and once I do a little more weathering and get the decals on I'm going to call that my tabletop +. As always feed back is both appreciated and encouraged. If you see something you like feel free to ask how I did it, I'm usually good at getting back to people. I
  23. Bear with me on this, it has been a while since I've done a WIP. Given my House affiliation updates may be sporadic. If you read the monthly goal threads in the tabletop sub-forum you'll know that I recently completed (mostly) an inventory of my unpainted figures. This has given me some desire to actually sit down and paint more often. I decided to go with the Hill Giant because he's been haunting my lead pile for about 10 years now and already had his skin base coated about 5 years ago IIRC. That and I've always liked the general look of the sculpt on this one. I have two objectiv
  24. This one puzzled me for quite a while, then annoyed me for even longer. Gray fur almost worked, then not at all. I tried steel colours, then bronze, and even to make the sword look like some sort of black glassy rock... It just screamed NO at me. So I gave it another bath in the Pit of Regret, washed it off and gave it a coat of gray primer, then sat down and studied it.... Yeah, it had to be done like this. I still have a bit of a problem with getting good pictures, but... The colours is MSP Shadowed Stone as base and MSP Weathered stone d
  25. I need help sorting out some minis to use use in the Warlord tournament at ReaperCon. I just know that in my mountain of unpainted lead there is at least one Warlord army. I know I will need to use some proxy models and that those need to be other Reaper Minis. The problem is in some cases I am no longer certain whether some of these guys are a Reaper model or OMM. I could use some help with identification of the minis in the pics that follow: The army I have the most (authentic Warlord) figs for is Reven. Some of the winged guys above are candidates to prox
