  1. Yes I decided I need to begin my work so I can hopefully finish up an entry for Bombshell Miniatures, I decided to go with Qadire of the Sands. I gave her skin a base coat and painted up her eyes. Well I thought I had, until I looked at her eyes blown up. I think I need to reexamine her left eye.
  2. So, Ebonwrath is the first dragon I'll be painting. Lucky for me, I actually had good dice rolls. Orange Brown, Lava Orange, and Violet Red. I had to order the paints. To practice with my colors mixing (and since I got a nice set) I'm going to be trying the 3*** star challenge. This challenge is now awaiting the arrival of my paints and dragon.
  3. I'm making my own gaming table Here is the rough design: 6ft X 4ft. In the car park next door to work I saw and purchased 3x hemlock slabs (8ft by 2 ft, 1 1/2' thick) at $40 CAD each & 1 cracked 1 at $15. Enough wood to build the lid. I had access to a full work shop so we started cutting! Using the track saw, table saw, thickness plainer & joiner we cut 7 boards 7 1/8' wide and just over 6ft long, 2 of them having live edges. Some of the wood had a little rot so we sanded that out and plan to fill with epoxy. The wood being a little wet still I
  4. Because I need another WIP thread, I thought I would start another one for my Burrows & Badgers Oathsworn KS terrain I got. I started this one today and thought I'd try out Wappel's shaded base coat method. I used reaper paints to apply the base coat. Since Scale 75 is the only Inks I own used them to ally the shading as best I could. Here is the result, I need to seal it and give it a matte coat as I understand now when people say inks have a gloss to them.
  5. I thought I'd try to keep a work in progress of the process I'm making in Bones 3. I got distracted/bored during the Death Guard painting, and went back to some of the bones. "Heeey you guuuys!" The Fomorian just called to me. He felt left out when I painted the other Giants, I guess.
  6. So, I'm doing the Layer Up learn to paint kit from reaper. Hopefully, I'm not missing any of the basics from core skills (I did the AP learn to paint process). So, all washed and boiled...
  7. I'm really bad at fur and texture, so I'm doing a WIP for the dire bear for advise. Will post updated pictures at each step. Comments and suggestions appreciated. Thankfully, I don't see any mould lines on him, so I'll start without any pre modification.
  8. It was requested that I begin a Work In Progress thread for this piece. I don’t normally do WIP threads, so if anyone is looking for more detail, let me know. This model represents a bunch of firsts for me. This is my first bust, first resin, first model airbrushed, and first attempt at zenithal priming. The model comes in 5 pieces: The base, neck, and back of the head are the bulk, followed by the face/muzzle, and left/right horns. The Queen makes the fifth piece. Assembly was fairly easy and straightforward. Each piece received a good wash in soapy water. When d
  9. Got my base coats on and a top glaze on the back..
  10. Actually, I'm starting this tomorrow. I'm starting the thread now so that @buglips*the*goblin has a chance to check in and add my name to the list of bat-crap crazy whackjobs taking this on. And, you know. Pelt somebody with a stanky shoe, 'cause why not. As this is a Goblin Challenge, it will follow the Challenge Rules, as stated in this thread: I am .. not sure I know WTF I'm doing, but whatever, I'm a girlblin, I'm not known for sanity, and I pelt people with chili-bombs. So. Maal's been washed and dry-fitted, and I've said a lot of bad words about all the ratz
  11. I decided that my (admittedly small) collection of figs was starting to need a feminine element. I grabbed this gal from my stash and started another project to help distract me from my other projects. I also chose her because I am trying to learn my NMM and she's got a fair amount of armor. So far I have only done a few Barbarian males, so I am trying hard to be considerably "softer" with her skin tones. Her face is the also the only skin on this fig so I am trying to give it a lot of attention as I know it will be where the eye goes first (no pun intended). Hmmm, this is a phone came
  12. Bones 4 is next month, but I'm still working through my backlog from Bones 2, lol. Here's my version of Narthrax, my favorite dragon from that KS. This was a really fun mini to paint. More pics and a detailed WIP over at my blog (link down in my sig).
  13. I'm going to be playing in a second D&D group starting in a couple of weeks so I decided to get started on painting up my new character. I'm using darksword miniatures male warrior as my 2-handed vengeance paladin. It's really the only two handed weapon sculpt I could find that I really liked. I decided to just leave him on his base with how the sword is. I had to assemble the hand with the sword as there were two options for weapons, the greatsword and a great axe. Mold lines really weren't too bad. I decided to go with a
  14. Hey! l haven't done a WIP thread in a while now. I know Bones III is the new hotness now, and Mal'drakhar is the shiny that everyone wants to paint. But I got a comission to paint Khanjira, and and one of my own to paint, too: The comission doesn't want to have "dinosaur colors or Godzilla colors" and likes the idea of a blue Khanjira. I'm flipping back and forth on mine; I might go with a red and purple color scheme, or I might do a "Pacific Rim"-inspired dark grey with a blue bioluminescent glow on his eyes, mouth and parts of his armor. I'll mock up
  15. So, I'm preparing my prizes for the DDM Guild GenCon 50 events. Thought I'd share them here, too. So without further ado, Pictures! A Fire Giantess from the Storm Kings Thunder mini set. Nearly ready now. Biggest improvement I made was Eyebrows! Planetar Angel. Took these to my FLGS, Gatehouse Games, and showed them off. Just about everyone there said they liked the wings. A Female Tiefling Warlock. Gave her a better base using a Base Stamp. Also, realized I haven't taken a m
  16. To add to the number of projects I'm falling behind on, I picked up the new 40k boxed set, "Dark Imperium": I'm really liking what I've seen for the new 40k, and although I haven't gotten a real game in in a long time, I've played Nurgle Chaos Space Marines for a long time. It's really cool to seem Marines the size they're supposed to be. I skipped over assembly photos, and went straight to the drybrushed armor. I think there's some shoulders and skin done in this photo, too: I haven't even primed the Poxwalkers yet. I already have a ton of modern/sci-fi zombie types, and while
  17. Well this month I decided to join in the hangouts mini. Got started on mine tonight on the hangouts. Went with the green skin as all my other's I have are painted up as greenskins. I mostly base coated tonight during the hangout. Here is what I got accomplished.
  18. Here is my next project I'm trying to focus on while filling in with the hill giant. This is a birthday present for a friend. I'm thinking of going for a dark angel look with reds, purples and blacks. I'll attach the wings after I get most of the upper portion painted up.
  19. So this is my next model in line to paint up. I'm hoping that this will give me some practice painting skin and faces, even though it's at a larger scale than a human sized figure. This is also my first bones model that I've started painting. Cleaned mold lines, assembled everything, pinned it to the base and green stuffed the gaps. Primed the base and green stuff and then I used brown line for my first coat on everything. Other than that I threw on a thinned down coat of cadmium skin. It will need a few more coats to cover the brown liner. I decided to get started on this w
  20. Here we have a blind bag Marvel 500 figure, series 8 Red Guardian. Why? Mostly just because. Impulse purchase, never seen them before, curiosity driven I suppose. Sure, but why paint it? As it turns out this fig has been a great exercise (thus far) in blending that I am in most need of. Also I have been enjoying the process of basing. Something that I am finding every bit as enjoyable as the figure painting. At this point I based and initial shaded/highlighted the blue with an airbrush. I used some liquid masking, won't do that again. Tough to remove. Luckily the blue paint withstood th
  21. So I decided to base my grave wraith on one of those cool tea lights run off a 2032 battery. I will be adding some basing and then decide how to best paint this one. I have heard some people throw a varnish on it then do a nice wash, would hitting it with a can of testors dullcote then using a wash work? any suggestions is appreciated:) And I thought I was in the WIP forum:( can a MOD please move it:) sorry
  22. There I was the hobby store, I had the bones version in my hand when I ran across the metal Pathfinder version, I opted for metal. Still working out my NMM, planning on some color glazing before it's done. I also decided that this dude gets an elaborate base. I don't play with my figs, so they will all be getting the advanced base treatment. I also decided to play with green stuff for the first time. I only have pics of the helmet mods right now, but there's more (next post). Thank's for droppin in and checkin this out, what do you think?
  23. Okay, this one has been sitting around for like foreever just primed, so I decided now that I have the Reaper LTPK, i'd start trying to finish him. I am pretty sure its a grenadier model, and that its a goblin:) but if someone else knows for sure, please let me know:)
  24. So I finally got my Reaper Bones Learn to paint core skills kit, and decided to use the techniques for the skeleton on these skeletons first (well sort of haha). The whitewashed skeleton was a Vallejo ivory model color bottle which seemed WAY more thin then the reaper stuff, so not too happy with it at the moment, but will take it through the other techniques and see how it plays out. The other skeleton is more true to the walkthrough in the LTPK book. They both of course had a black primer done before the base coat and they both had their bases done (one with kitty litter, the other just baki
  25. Well, Here goes my first WIP, my first post, my first Bones figure. When I bought this guy, I had no idea what separated a Bones from the others. I am just getting back into the hobby. When I opened the package, I was a bit taken aback. "Flimsy rubber?!!" You know though. it's all good, I'm not experienced enough to have a preference between metal, plastic, pvc or resin. Once it has a prime coat on him, the painting process is the same so whatevs. This lil dude is kind of a tester piece for other projects and overall I am pretty happy with him so far. His arms were falling out of their
