  1. One more from the Thanksgiving paint binge. I wanted to paint her in bright fall colors, so I used Corporeal Shadow and Pumpkin Orange on her clothing.
  2. Here's a boss from Super Dungeon Explore. I split my set with my wife, and I was really surprised that I got to paint this one (she got Jack, so it isn't like I always get the best ones). I decided to go with a fairly limited color scheme for her. I don't remember why exactly, but I really did enjoy the pink pumpkin. Here she is.
  3. I started this as a Halloween project. Things got in the way and now it is an autumn piece. Any way I had fun. I bought a ceramic Pumpkin, converted it into a house. Reaper's Elise Witch http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/elise/latest/02869And Freebooter's Chaos Witch both sculpted by Werner Klocke are conjuring pumpkins. These are now wandering off into the world to cause mayhem, The pumpkins are part Ristul's Market and I used the Owl on a Pumpkin from the Reaper Halloween Familiars http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Special%20Edition%20Figures/sku-down/01548 And I added the great Halloween Tree from Reaper: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/halloween/sku-down/03692 Hope you like it. Some Pumpkins are a bit in the ground, so they are emerging.
  4. So, for many moons, and mostly during my "Reign of Winter" campaign, I had been looking for a kit of basic stereotypical witches. The West Wind/Old Glory/Ghost kit "Story Book Hags and Witches" seemed the best fit, however, very few merchants had them in stock in the USA. Someone pointed me toward Noble Knight's recent sale, and I found the blister still in stock! Surprisingly, it was a coven of four! I had always assumed witches came in three, even in inventory. So, to start, we have the Coven as a whole: A Hag pointing the group towards mayhem: The grunt(ilda) bearing spell ingredients: A cauldron plus victim, useful for so many adventures: A broomrider bearing a familiar: And the fourth, another witch taking to the sky:
  5. Made a coven throne from the start collecting set. Now it just needs basing.: WIP pics:
  6. Hi! A quick simple paint job on a really beautifully sculpt mini. Hope you guys like it. As usual any feedback and critiques are very welcome.
  7. This is a vintage circa. 1990 figure from Metal Magic, "Witch with Cat" C1017c (thanks to Xherman1964 who helped identify it!) from their set C1017, "Female Wizards". I got it from the Box O' Goodwill project. The original WIP thread is here. I suspended work sometime in April and finished the figure in a speed paint over the Memorial Day weekend.
  8. This is the Micro Art Studio 30mm "Granny Weatherwax II" -- Esmerelda Weatherwax, known as Esme to her best friend and Granny to everyone else, top witch on all of the Discworld, as she appeared in Terry Pratchett's "Maskerade", come down from her home Up North to the Big Bad City in disguise as a Great Lady to rescue some friends from some pickles. As a witch, of course she always wears only black. The only version of this mini I have seen online painted up is all in sugary pastel colors (to emphasize the incongruity of the outfit, I suppose). According to the book's description: Truth to tell, I always pictured the dress in the book as something marvelously Edward Gorey, more the Titanic's timeperiod than Marie Antoinette. But this is fun too. So anyhow, I painted her up as a birthday gift for my husband, who has long loved the Discworld. Granny Weatherwax is one of his two favorite characters (the other is also painted, and I'll start a thread for later). I painted her up with a pitch black dress, then glazed over it with a rainbow of interference colors.
  9. I started building a display piece, a vignette, diorama or whatever you want to call it. It will probably be too late for Halloween but then it will be a Fall / Autumn piece. Reaper 02869: Elise, The Witch and Freebooter Chaos Witch,, both by Werner Klocke will star the show. The idea is they live in this Pumpkin house ( obtained in a garden centre, added a plastic door from a board game) and they are conjuring spooky pumpkins. The Halloween tree stands next to their house. So here are the first pics.
  10. This week I completed Feiya, Iconic Witch from the Bones I Kickstarter Iconics and Officially Licensed Pathfinder Miniatures set. I did this figure because my playtest of the Frostgrave rules last week made we want a properly winter based figure to act as Apprentice to my Illusionist wizard. I had pressed Cassie the Gnome Wizard in to duty as the Apprentice, but was not happy with her green grass base. Meanwhile, I felt Feiya looked suitable wrapped up for cold weather adventuring. So many of the remaining wizard figures I have yet to paint just don't look dressed for a winter trek. I'm really pleased with how she came out. The Frostgrave rules say that Illusionists dress in bright, multi-colored outfits, and I wanted to bring that across in this Apprentice. My thinking was that she is young and still enjoys playing with colors and different appearances. The figure I'm using as my older Wizard, (see: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/01/anirion-wood-elf-wizard-figure-132-of.html ) is more jaded and knows the wisdom of sometimes using camouflage and blending in. For the full write-up on my painting of Feiya, please see my Bones blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2015/09/feiya-iconic-witch-figure-169-of-265.html
  11. I've been a fan of this mini since the first time I saw it but still it took me some time to buy it, and almost even more time to gather up the courage to paint it. It didn't quite end up the way I wanted it to (I don't have that good brush control) but still it turned out kind of nice.
  12. Started Magda at ReaperCon and finished her the other evening after my son went to sleep. I'm thankful I got two of her as part of his Kickstarter because this piece overall lends itself to lots of different ideas and versatility. I made the flat metal surface of her ring an actual jewel. There's a line on the right side of her cheek which I think is an accidental nip from when I was tossing highlights on the hair; it's hard to see with the naked eye so I'm not going to fuss with it.
  13. Hi ! A little commision work with a precise colors choice. All colors of Chakra ! Oo ... Really cool mini from MicroArt Studio.
  14. Apologies for the tiny pictures, not sure why she ended up so small! Any ways, another finished mini from my Restoring the Balance WIP thread. I'm really pleased with how she ended up, I think I need to cut down on how much grit I mix into my basing sand though. As always, any comments and criticisms are most appreciated.
  15. Had this fellow finished for some time. Hard to take decent photos of it since it's so big: I used this blue and purple snake as my inspiration for the color scheme:
  16. So this is a mini that has been sitting on my half finished shelf for more than a year. She's an Endless Fantasy Tactics Summoner that I had gotten out of a miscast pile with a bunch of others at a con. The body of the mini was mostly fine, but she had a messed up hat. So somewhere along the way I decided that I would just put a warhammer torch bit on her head and make her a crazy fire witch. Then I base coated her, and promptly left her on a shelf collecting dust. Well I finally painted her.
  17. Last year I saw my daughters watching Twilight. Sparkling vampires, Of course I had to show them where that came from. So I showed them Buffy and Angel series, The oldest one was hooked. So I made her this: She loved it, she keeps it in her room now.
  18. I reached my goal of painting 100 miniatures in 2014 by completing these 2 miniatures from Reaper: Magnus the Wizard of Hope (SKU 1402) Willow Greenivy (SKU 3682) I painted them up as a pair, using common color scheme.
  19. Here's my version of this new sculpt from Bobby Jackson; I have a feeling she's going to be as popular as Alastriel and Juliette, both of whom I'm assuming sell a lot. She was painted with a Reaper Master Series Round #1 and the following 10 Reaper Master Series Paints: Brilliant Green, Black Green, Fair Skin, Pure White, Sun Yellow, Redstone, Red Shadow, Auburn Shadow, Dark Elf Shadow, Mint Green. C&C always welcome form any level painter.
  20. So, alas I didn't have the funds to order any of the others, except Chibi Sophie who has not yet come, but with Halloween tomorrow I felt it best to post these tonight. Jack. Patch Esme. And standing with his minion it's The Great Pumpkin Impact miniatures 'Pumpkinheaded General' These guys where so much fun to paint, and I do regret not being able to get more, but funds where not in it for me. Maybe in the future they will show up again.
  21. So, I think the new phone is already affecting the qualify of the photos, which, really shouldn't be surprising. I still need a better light source, though. Let's start off with something green...
  22. I have a new camera and a new set-up for taking pictures. This is a figure from Dark sword, it is larger than the Reaper mouselings, more the size of a normal 28mm human. It is a nice figure and was a joy to paint, even if it was a bit pricey.
  23. I was going to enter this one as well into the fall/halloween contest, but I am not really happy. I like the colours, I like the mini, I just could not get things to smooth out and go where I wanted them to. still, here she is.
  24. I've been working on an entry for the Halloween contest the last month or so, and I had a crazy idea to hand-make an iron fence out of some aluminium. You can see some w.i.p. shots in my thread here: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49097-cassus-many-wips/page-8 Although the material was a little fragile, my Bones Bat was still light enough to be supported on-top there which I was impressed by. (Hooray for Bones!) I apologize for the out-of-focus parts in these photos, I fail at camera - even when given advice. I think when I can afford it I need to go out and buy myself a camera with a better lens and one I can actually learn to use properly. Any way, enough sulking about my lack of photography skills. Happy Halloween everyone!
  25. This was a commission painting I did for a friend. He wanted a modern " hot " looking witch that was still in the fantasy theme. I had fun and really enjoyed painting this miniature. I hope the viewers like it.
