  1. The TerrainCrate set I got included a heap of Abandoned Mine stuff, including mine carts, mine cart tracks, pickaxes and shovels, Big Glowy Crystals, crates, barrels, debris, and some dynamite kegs. I'm introducing this to my Weird West game as the Lost Mines of Joaquin Carrasquillo. Joaquin (played by 50319, Olaf, Dwarf Gambler) knows *where* his mining concern is, but has recently lost control of it. Dug too greedily...an' too deep. Awoke summat dark down there, forgotten by th' people of the world above. (It's Grab-oids with the serial numbers filed off.) Anyway, there's a lot of stuff t
  2. Ever since I was a kid, I've been crazy about Dinosaurs. I'm probably underselling that a bit. Regardless, my love for the creatures has carried over into adulthood. So, when Wizkids previewed this I was...apprehensive. Their preview image was taken at a less than flattering angle that really didn't show much of thw mini. Then they showed up in stores and sure enough, the "mini" pretty much rules. T-Rex has always been my favorite. Especially in a fantasy context. I was always amused when reading those old Marvel Conan comics when Conan and his sidekicks were harrowed by a dragon and th
  3. The elusive WizKids Beholder. Love this guy.
  4. Ok! The last weekend of my last show of 2018 is coming up, and the weather is turning cold, so I will have neither script nor sun to keep me from my desk during lunch. Which means I'll be painting! As I did last year, I'll be keeping a series of WiP threads for my lunch session projects. First up on the docket this year are three minis that are *this* close to being done already. The first was my test for plaid for one of my lunch session threads last year. She's a Wizkids barmaid, and she just had a few finishing touches: Also in the batch
  5. Back from Reapercon and working on the little's PC for our inconsistent dnd game. She's super tiny but I really like the sculpt. Gripes about plastic, and the mould quality though. It's a wizkids preprimed number. I wish they did these in metal. She's coming along nicely. Her skins are the rosy skin triad with some of the fair skins mixed in. Hair is intense brown, vmc orange brown pumpkin orange and then pumpkin orange and rosy highlight, then tiny bits of rosy highlight. Her eyes are I think leaf green, and tiny. Kiddo is requesting some purple socks with stripes so that is the next
  6. This is the beholder from Wizkids. He is my first completed mini for Saturated Seotember where I am going to try and spend some time painting every day for the month of September. I have a WIP thread going if anyone wants to follow along or join in! He got a little more orange than I intended but I don't mind how he turned out. I want to get my hands on another one and greenstuff his eye to make a different (round) iris and pupil. Fun mini to paint. We'll have to see how my players like him!
  7. These were a quick and easy paint, and I went for a realistic tone to match the sculpts. The victim pile is supposed to be a base element for them, but I decided to keep it seperate as a scenery piece. The shinyness on the fellow in the back is due to the black wash not being entirely dry when I took the pic.
  8. These guys took a bit more time than I expected, but I'm happy with the overall results. The one on the left was inspired by Manfred Von Carstein and the other by Vlad Von Carstein. I chose Not Manfred's colors with "Vampire Wizard" in mind, but he kind of resembles a French noble during the Terror fleeing from the guillotine. The renders on the back of the blister showed various detail on the clothing and I tried to emulate that in gold. Lunging at prey, casting Hand of Dust, or does he just talk with his hands? On Not Vlad, I did the details
  9. Been working a lot and had limited time so just knocking out easy minis, an animated statue and some giant spiders
  10. I generally dislike the WizKids stuff, but some of their larger minis are good. Had this guy awhile, but finally finished his base.
  11. My last wizkids minis from the couple I had ordered ..the second monk. Not much inspired anyway, but this let me try a bit some paint ...also not to fancy for the base this time :). But it feel good to finish a serie ^^, now I can concentrate on that diorama !
  12. Still having 2 wizkids left to paint so I decided to first end the elf paladin set and make the second one. Also wanted to test some color paint and a snowy base ! not easy to take photo of snow stuff by the way xd...
  13. I'm playing a Firbolg Druid in a campaign and couldn't find any mini to represent him. So I came across this Longtooth Barbarian and decided to convert one. I removed the sword on the back for a backpack, and I gave him a Scimitar.
  14. Hi, continuing with the wizkids ( still 2 remaining to finish the batch I ordered ^^ ) but I just received some new Bones today , finally :D Anyway , just finshed one of the 2 elfes female paladin.
  15. These were a quick paint. Also an example of what happens if you say the word "treat" too loudly in a place where the world is thin.... Luckily they have an affinity for witches. I made the terrain a few years ago out of clay and plumber's putty. They may have started as Lawful Good...but the Dark Side has bacon bits!
  16. just finished this new piece.. here my wip thread : and the final result
  17. Some happy little flesh eaters. Some of the easier Wizkids figures I've painted, although I'm not sure why their tongues are hanging out. As far as I know ghouls sweat... Used the Vampiric Skin triad on them, it fits them well but makes them photo resistant. To them it's a buffet...
  18. Hi ! Started one of the monk fihure from wizkids ( couple in stock so I need to get them done ^^ ), so it may be a good place to make my first wip thread ... tried a zenhital priming, using tamiya spray primer and Mr hooby ( that the more easy and cheaper to get in japan ). from there I just apply what I am considering as my base dark tone..well hehe no garanty here I am exploring stuff too :) where I am at for now... i did not too much care about detials for now..let see how this goes xd
  19. Hi guys, continuing my journey in painting :) This time , wizkids again, human male fighters. I got a bit of a hard time with those. super small but lot of tiny details xd, also male the mistake to not prime them and I should have made them black or at least zenhital stuff anyway. last I have just realize that when coating the base some paint get on one of the sword haha..well , will improve for next one !
  20. This is one of two figures in the Dungeons & Dragons Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures line Male Tiefling Mage. It was one of the first minis I picked up when I was learning to paint. I wasn't sure how I wanted to paint it, so it's been sitting in my inventory for a few months. Now that I have some experience with lighting effects, I decided to go over the top with the color.
  21. Hi everybody, while waiting for some new Reaper bone's mini I ordered .. I am doing couple of those Wizkids I grabbed recently, and finished for now the ghouls one. Here the pics :)
  22. Somebody asked me to paint this dwarf so he got an overambitious OSL speed paint. I am not a fan of the pre-primed minis. This one had a bunch of plastic shavings under the primer in addition to the usual mold lines. I did learn that the vallejo model colour transparent paints go really well over the transparent pieces on these minis. I used transparent yellow for the basecoat. I added white highlights in a couple of spots to give it some definition. I used layers of transparent orange and then red to define some of the inner edges of the discs.
  23. Meh. I'm almost embarrassed by my own haphazardness. But I reckon I should dig out those donkeys from Bones 3 now.
  24. I couldn't pass on having a good mimic for our campaigns, or in this case 2. I also want to grab the bed mockingbeast from Reaper and just make a whole house full of living evil... mwahahahah
  25. This is an interesting pair. One is fairly typical for a Ranger charater, the other, a bit more imaginative than usual.
