  1. So, let's get this show on the road, shall we. I have been... remiss... in actually documenting the painting I've been doing. Partially because this has mostly been utter speed painting of the "get paint on Bonesium so it doesn't all look the same from six feet away" variety, partly various other reasons. But today is Paintsgiving (my parents live in Texas. I do not. Hence...). So I have a little time. And some projects I want to get completed before Sunday (the next session of the high-level D&D5e game I play in - we're talking high level here, folks. The party currentl
  2. Hello! I've recently started working on a diorama, and a friend of mine urged me to post here. The only thing that is missing from the pictures below is the kelp that will be behind the kraken (on the little pads on the back side of the base). It is some floppy aquarium kelp that I"m currently trying to figure out how to get it to stand up straight. Tips, tricks, C&C are all welcomed. Here is the pre-primed coral wall in varying states of sand coverage. The coral is planned to be very brightly colored. Primed base: You can see the
  3. I thought I'd try to keep a work in progress of the process I'm making in Bones 3. I got distracted/bored during the Death Guard painting, and went back to some of the bones. "Heeey you guuuys!" The Fomorian just called to me. He felt left out when I painted the other Giants, I guess.
  4. Something I haven't done on the forum before is actually do a WIP that shows me working through the stages on a model. So, to hopefully get my advice and motivation, I will document my progress on Cinder. As I am normally focused mostly on table-top quality, and rushing through things, this will be a big change for me. Any advice or criticism appreciated. Today I have the first layers done. I am going more for a black and purple dragon (think Disney's Sleeping Beauty). The scales will be highlighted with dark purples to still read black but be unified, while the belly and wing m
  5. Hello fellow Forumites! I always enjoy coming back from ReaperCon, as my creative battery has been recharged and I'm ready to paint again! I'm currently working on a special project for someone who plays fierce female barbarian brawlers in her Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. I'm even painting it in her image, complete with upper leg tattoos. Reaper's "Viking Girl" sculpted by Bobby Jackson was the perfect choice for this! I'm still not convinced I can pull off this freehand tattoos, but I try something new in every project and I can always paint over it in skin tone if it becomes too overwh
  6. 03698: Tengu Rogue by Derek Schubert This miniatures was done for the miniature Summer Exchange 2015 for Marineal. I tried a new masking technique with this one and used yellow (instense yellow) to back the bands. Colors in, now time for shading The base are two wood disks of different size bought from Hobby Lobby. I then glued them together and used a hole saw to crave out the spot for the MDF base. Greenstuff and sand. Made the large plant and log by hand.
  7. I started on the dreadball MVPs, and things, but I figure I may get a bit distracted when bones arrive. Brute Force That energy guy I have no rules for
  8. 02753: Werebear Brotherhood Of Tooth And Claw ______________________________________________________________________________________ I filed down his neck a bit to put his head at a tilt. Then Green Stuffed and blended it with the pattern of the fur. Washed in Reaper Brown Wash. Finished the eyes and working on the mouth. C&C Welcome!
  9. Started work on this Uskuluz Greyhide about 85% of the way through Anval Thricedamned. I think you all will like this progression everyone. Please let me know of some color choice you might think for the bits and bobs hanging off of him. ___________________________________________ The base is done with spackle, sand and some old pieces from a Reaper figure WAY back in the day. 10points if you can figure it out! C&C Welome!
  10. Here is 77161 - Ghost King. Base coats applied on armor, cloak, and weapon. Next I'll get to his face, gem on the sword, etc. Feel free to comment.
  11. I decided I would create a WIP thread, because I've painted a whole bunch of minis since my first posts, but just haven't had the chance to post the photos I've taken along the way. I'm not going to post those ones (unless requested), but I'm hoping to take advantage of my impending down time in a few weeks. I also hope to post more regularly with a thread to manage. So here's the next batch of minis I'm working on. Another werewolf: this one a grey one Another translucent ghost: this one I just want to try a quick drybrush in ashen blue the bones ghost and the LTPK 4 models I
  12. This is an open thread for our 2013 Dragon Painting Extravaganza! I started Cinder back when...um...she was released. Yeah, shelf of super shame. Here's what I've got so far. I may strip her on account of I started painting her when I had no light, so now her paint looks super thick, but at least you get an idea of the plan. Ok, feel free to join in!
  13. Picked this guy up yesterday and it has been real fun to paint. I figured I would post progress on him as I go along. I'm going to try and do his fur cloak like a lion. I just wanted to try something different, because it always seems like I'm painting wolf pelt.
  14. hi everyone, I'm new here, and I just started using my husband's brushes and colors. I have to admit I had some fun with previous kit rat and Anuryan, getting somewhat imprecise but nice results. But now I'm having a harder time with some details on the Tsuko miniature. Mouth, chest skintone, a scar I added to left eye: I have some trouble resolving these details. I used black primer (I really can't follow directions as you can notice...), and I tried the Highland moss green triad instead of the red in the kit, as well as less tanned skintones, even if the pics seems more greyish than origin
