  1. Trying something a little different this time. I've got a friend who loves JRR Tolkein and I thought he'd really appreciate a little diorama. Since I have to ship this, I need it small and durable. Now, I get it that Bilbo's sword Sting glows bright when Goblins are near, but let's just say for this story it's glowing because danger is close. I have him in the stone henge area with a Wraith King coming around the bend. Let's just say this is about to get real... Starting this on some foam board. I was going to use some chip board, but didn't want the glue and stu
  2. Reaper mummy I wanted to theme as an ice mummy. Wizkids beholder zombie. Reaper wraith from Bones 4 that shall be known as “The Red Wraith” in my dnd game as a recurring villain.
  3. Hi i just want to introduce you Marise Greyshroud Wraith Queen.
  4. I ordered the new wraiths that were just released that were part of the Bones 4 KS. I thought they were going to be opaque (that's how they were first posted), and was bummed when they arrived as translucent. Mostly because I have never painted a translucent before. So I ordered up a couple other green guys to try out some technique. After botching up the Spirit figure with AP green quickshade, I moved on to this Grave Wraith. I used Muddy Brown on the ground, Mountain Stone on the gravestone and Bronze Dragon on the sword. I liberally used AP strong quickshade as a base on the wra
  5. I saw Stawhat's post a while back, that he did them in different colors... I thought that was cool and since I normally prime my bones, thought that I might try the liners I have as base coat and see how they work out. I do not have the grey, but I did try the green, blue, brown, sepia and red liners. As many have noted the brown and blue worked well, but I found the red worked out just as well. The green and sepia flake too easily. Also tried some OSL - as I am still working on getting my skills there.
  6. This is my first attempt at object source lighting. I'm still pretty new to this hobby, so any advice is appreciated!
  7. Hey, long time no post. I've been painting up some spooky minis for a Curse of Strahd campaign. Painted these two and finished last night. I started with an airbrush, but ended with a whole lot of brushwork and glazing.
  8. Well, I managed to fight my way back into hobbying...at least a little bit. The wraiths were some of the minis I was anxious to get at, so I wasted no time. I thought about doing the expected (black and grey), but that left me uninspired. So I thought about ROY-G-BV-ing them. But I didn't have any OYs that I thought would be appropriate. So I just muddled my way through. My apologies to Bob Ridolfi, your sculpts are wonderful and deserve better than what I can throw on them. The new wood paints were brought out to work the haft. Muddy Soil s
  9. I wish my phone camera could get better photos of this mini, but the contrast is so wide that it just doesn't want to cooperate. I wanted to practice some OSL, and I chose violet. I also wanted to try building a different kind of base, and the wraith seemed like it would look at home in a bog. I think the back turned out better than the front. I may go back and deepen some of the front shadows at some point. Tips on OSL and other things are welcome!
  10. Painted this ghostly ghoul for my players to fight this weekend. The purple highlights on the cloak didn't come out vibrant as I had hoped, but I think it still looks pretty good. I was really happy with the rusted armor, although it didn't get captured in the pics very well. The sword is supposed to look like it was glowing blue, but I got lazy near the end and sort of skipped it. I'm planning on going back some day to add that effect, but for now I'll consider it done. I would appreciate any critiques and advice. Thanks in advance!
  11. Simple speed paint. All done except for the base. Edit: I've added my 2nd Cairn Wraith. I really liked Michael Proctor's example paint so I copied the color scheme for it.
  12. So I think this is the best mini I’ve ever painted. I got him him for free with my last order and I loooove him. I love the sculpt and he’s so fun. Anyways, very proud of myself with this one...
  13. Still have a few touch ups to do (yes I based before I was done...I like to live on the edge)
  14. Mold lines, it seems, are my weakness. Fortunately, this model, which I absolutely love, had lots of wrinkly bits that I could use to try and hide them. :-)
  15. For my Children of the Night Project I'm building a Gothic style Undead army with some Demon allies. Here is the Necropolis Command Group I will use as a Command for a regiment later. WIP https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79298-children-of-the-night-by-glitterwolf/
  16. Howdy, For my fifteenth day of International Mini Painting Month I present the Female Wraith from the Bones 3 Graveyard Expansion... Halfway, Kev!
  17. Here is the Grenadier Monsters box set wraith. The glowing green inside his hood and sleeves doesn't show up as brightly in the photos as it is IRL.
  18. My Bones III Kickstarter fulfillment arrived a couple of days ago, and I've been happily sorting through them. I've engaged in all three Reaper kickstarters so far, but I doubt that I'll do another — it's not that they're not a good deal, but there's always a very, very long wait for them to arrive, and they've all been very heavy on the character figures, of which I really do have an ample supply. I mainly want the monsters, and it'll be simpler just to buy them individually when they eventually appear in the shop. I chose this one to start the painting with, mainly because it would be ver
  19. I normally wouldn't buy from Privateer Press as the minis are just too pricey, but i found these second hand at Half Price Books for under $8. Anyway, they make a fine troop of Wraiths for my Undead Kings of War army, and painted up really quickly. Tried out some fog effect too (shredded cotton ball). Took pictures with a two different light setups as I'm trying to figure out my wife's camera phone (mine is junk), I liked 'em both so you get to see 'em both.
  20. And here it is! It's finally finished and with a good picture (the camera peeps up a RCon took excellent pictures). I won a bronze on it at RCon, and this was my first year in the adult category. When I got the scores one of the judges wanted to give me a silver, one of the others wanted to give me a COM, and the last one wanted to give me a bronze it averaged out to a bronze, I'm so happy! C&C welcome and very much appreciated!
  21. Same procedure as Flynn I'll come up with a cool name when done Started basecoat finished prime and clean Sorry about crap camerawork mine's still lost I'll try to put up better pictures next time. Also any advice on dark skin would be nice...
