  1. Of the 5 Wrath of Ashardalon heroes I painted years ago, this one's my favorite. I love the sculpt...lots of opportunities for fun paint work.
  2. This one's not a bad sculpt for what he is (though, I wish they'd sculpted in his right foot...makes him look bizarre at certain angles).
  3. Just posting some older stuff from years past while I work on a larger product. Definitely not my best work, and definitely not a great mini (there weren't any lips sculpted in...come on!). I do like the way the hair and armor turned out.
  4. Another one of my old ones. The armor is based off of Sebastian Vael (a DLC character from Dragon Age 2...lame character, cool armor). I mixed some silver in with the white to give it some shimmer.
  5. Even though I did this one years ago, I still like him. The armor is inspired by Simon Belmont's armor in the NES Castlevania 2 box art (more of a plum/wine color than straight brown leather).
  6. Here's one I painted quite a while back. I absolutely love the crazy design of the Otyugh, not to mention the creature's unapologetically filthy lifestyle. I tried to capture that nastiness in the paint job, all the while making sure things didn't go from "purposefully gross" to "just sloppy". For whatever reason, I didn't take the time to remove his mold lines. It's an obvious weakness in the finished presentation (let this be a lesson about the importance of the preparation phase, I suppose...). Feel free to leave any comments/criticism.
  7. Hello all. Today I wanted to show off my collection of cultists that I painted up a year ago. Like others on this site, I debated what colors to paint my cultists for awhile, but I ultimately settled on a blue-black and red scheme. I choose to highlight the black with blue just to add more color, though looking back I wish I had just gone with neutral black, or a different color entirely. But they still work. I also tried out my new dark elf skin triad on these fellas. Though they aren't necessarily meant to represent Drow in my games, I figured it made them mysterious and it wouldn't really matter if they were perfect representations. I wanted the cultists to be adaptable and reusable for any cult situation in my games. More Photos and Thoughts Below the Spoiler: What do you think? What's your favorite cultist color scheme? What nefarious purpose do they serve?
  8. Howdy, Yet another of the board game pieces... He's a lawyer, but does stand-up comedy on the weekends, Kev!
  9. Howdy, Last one I swear... More game pieces to come, Kev! P.s. Khaki triad on the belly!
  10. Howdy, Why does it always have to be snakes? Xiexie, Kev! P.S. Click, if you dare...
  11. Howdy, Also painted during Paint Club at Reaper HQ... Thank you, Kev!
  12. Howdy, From the board game... Click to get closer, Kev!
  13. Howdy, Also from the board game... Anger management, Kev! P.S. Click to get closer...
  14. So last week I posted my Warlock and Raven and mentioned they were my seventh mini to paint. So I figured since I have pictures of the first six I'll post those as I have time too :) I picked this guy as my first mini to paint since he was bigger and more simple and seemed like an easy one to start with. I will add though that I'm the type of crazy person that probably watched over 20 hours of YouTube tutorials before I even picked up a brush. Super receptive to any criticism as I would like to know what to improve!
  15. Doing a quick experiment with using a bleach scrub to 'prime' a polyvinyl plastic figure. Won't know if it really works until after the mini sees a few gaming sessions. First washed the fig with soapy water then used a toothbrush to scrub some plain bleach (not the concentrated kind) all over the fug, washed off the bleach and dried the mini Second experiment was starting off with a Drybrushed Folk Art 2558 Cinnamon topcoat over the brownish reddish plastic. Missed a few spots but those won't be seen from when the mini is on the table. Then a Magic Wash* with Folk Art 504 Van Dyke Brown to cover the whole of the fig. letting that fully dry now. *1 part future floor finish, 4 parts water.
