  1. Reaper Zombies (3) by S Nieheus 03471
  2. The Draugr from Red Box Games. I absolutely love these figures! I used this tutorial for the skin and I can't help to be somewhat befuddled with how many different hues I still managed... I'm really pleased with the result. If I was to change anything it would be to stain the clothing.
  3. Actually making some time to get some painting done this week. Still, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Working on clearing the shelf...The second blob of minis off the shelf today is 12 more of the Mantic Sci Fi Zombie Space Hurps conversions: I really, really need to look into better photography. At any rate, that makes 43 of those zombies done in all. 15-20 or so to go. I must admit they are getting a bit tedious to do, I expect the rest to wait awhile before I start them.
  4. This month I am at the Mountains of Minis, delving them with gusto, having done mould-line carving, scrubbing, boiling, assembling etc a large portion of the roughly 20-ish minis I got in the Bones 2 shipment. And sacrificing the required amounts of fingerblood, of course. At any rate, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. Just a quickie with the Bones 2 zombies today: I think I might just have a wee bit of a thing about zombies. I seem to have painted rather a lot of them lately. Anyway. the new and improved Bones material is so much better than the floppy stuff they used for the Bones 1. Anybody know if they are planning to use this new harder mix for the old minis when they cast up some more?

When I paint I usually end up with several blobs of unused paint left on my palette. And I hate wastage, and I like to use said paint on something instead of just throwing it out. I find that Zombies are great for this, as they can take most colours in their stride (especially as base coats), and a squad does not have to be uniform (sic!) Also mixing paints is fun and educational. It teaches you some colour theory without all the boring words. A couple more of the big unit of Space Hurps Positives. So far 33 of them are done. and last but not least, 3 Hungry Dead from Shadows of Brimstone: Swamps of Death. So thats 4 of those done altogether, twice as many left to go in the base game set. These are the worst of the SoB-minis, being quite soft in the details. But they do their job as low level zombie threats.

  7. Iron Wind Metals, Zombies 2 from set of 5 Finished the last weekend of May.
  8. So a neat thing happened to me on my way back from classes today... What was it? Oh, nothing major... just my BONES II, motherhuggers! See? It was full of lovelies inside, including this, which I am framing: Cool, right? So what's an Aard to do? Well, even before looking at it all, I wanted to paint! So, I ripped open one of my cores and one each of the expansions and chose what I wanted to start with... From Expansion One! I liked these guys (and the zombies) so much that I tore into my second expansion to get at the rest! More needed, deffo! I just did three layers - dark red, light red, and wash - but they're just for gaming, so no biggy... added nice blue eyes and teeth, and some pointy hooves! Gotta come up with a way to base these... might go for the D&D prepaint method of the plain black disc, tho... Speaking of zombies... The remaining two are done as well, but have fallen behind my desk and I'm too sore to get them out! Still, for speedy things they came out fine. I was waiting to blood them up until I decided if I liked it, but I think I do... it adds something, IMO... Last but not least, my favorite of the night... The Brass Bull! Super quick paint job (brown, gold, light gold) with a matte dark brown for horns and hooves. Took like a half hour, mainly due to it's size, but came out looking the best of the lot... This figure's not hard at all. I'll do the next one silver, I think, but I'll probably wind up with a fleet of these, too... they have to be in pairs, see, and I want an underwater one... and a lava cow'd be neat... maybe add wings? Anyways, nothing but speedpaints tonight. I was tired and lazy... I'll open things up and see what's around tomorrow. I'm thinking giants?
  9. It's been a little while since I posted up some of the zombie wedding cake toppers I make. So here are a couple more- they're more or less standard, except that the first one has the zombies designed to be interacting with the bride and groom a little more than we normally make them (usually, they're separate and climbing/shambling on the cake, while here they're definitely being attacked by the bride and groom). Anyway, here are some sets I've made lately:
  10. After being quite happy with how my skeletons turned out, I thought I'd have a go at some 'test zombies" for my planned zombie horde. Again, liberal use of quickshade inks was the order of the day. I'm particularly happy with the gory bits, which were just MSP Blushing Rose covered in red tone and strong tone quickshade.
  11. I startet a long while ago to paint the Survivors and Zombivors and did als a while nothing. So I started this weekend to proceedwith error corrections and some highlights. Made even new errors (Belles face). :-) I started also to make the bases looking like a street. My only problem is, I didn't found the color I want to use. I still need to look for the correct Vallejo color which gives me the color I want. Another problem I had with some of the bases was, I made it to thick, so it looks like the charakter is sunken in the base a little bit. I want to use also some of the files for the bases from another >>post<<. I will post in the next few days the others. All theminis will get a show off after I completed the bases and made my own Lightbox (which will need 2 weeks until I can proceed on it again ). About Josh's 'Guillotine Games'-Symbol. I printed it out with a inkjet. But it looked very weak, so I painted over the lines with white. Ned, Belle, Amy and Kirk Josh, Rose, Dakota and Brad Here you can see how I will store my minis: The following metal tray I can put on the top wooden strips in the box:
  12. So LittleBluberry and I both got bags of Crap from Secret Weapon. She posted on the randomness thread that she had gotten very few bases (which she was looking for) and had a very very large modern terrain piece. I offered to trade her some of my bases for whatever it turned out to be. (Because we all know I never use bases ) Here is what showed up in the mail. Given the Darksword Red Panda showed up in a lot of people's swag bags recently, (and I don't have Sir Forscale) I decided to drop him on top to give a sense of scale. (Also, this Gen Con Speed paint was sitting on my desk getting touched up, because I was testing out the Army Painter Strong Tone, but I digress). As you can see the right corner is a little rough. I've already cleaned up a bit of it, but I think there is a little more cleaning to do. There was a purple rubbery material in the cervasses, that makes me think it was part of it's mold. (This model has some very serious undercuts). Also there are areas where the resin doesn't feel like it cured properly... but I am not too familiar with resin or mold making! I really really really freakin' like this piece. It's got tires, coolers and propane tanks, all sorts of fun! Great for modern hurricane, civil unrest, zombies, or just one hellacous party. Which gave me the idea on what to do with the rough areas in the right corner... I'm gonna set them on fire! Or at least paint them as if they are on fire.... Haven't decided if I am going to model flames on the model or not... or just leave them looking blackened and scarred. Well what ever I do, I invite you to join me on this adventure.... Since this piece isn't on Secret weapons site... I'm wonder how many of these exist... So if any one knows what is up with this piece please spill the beans.
  13. Greetings from the shambling horde! I'll be hosting two games of Zombicide at ReaperCon this year, and I'm looking forward to eating...whoops!...meeting anyone who signs up. These are two firsts for me - first ReaperCon and first time running a game at a con. I can't wait to see what everyone brains...sorry...brings to the table. .millionsofRobots
  14. I wasn't sure where to post this as it concerns a Kickstarter, but it's a finished Kickstarter. So, I put it here. Mods may move it at their discretion of course. The Table Zombies KS ended a week or so ago, but they still have the demo available for Android and iDevices. It's actually kind of cool! I don't know how augmented reality works, but I assume it's magic. It definitely makes my desk at work more festive. Link to project... There is a PDF to print then a demo to download from the appropriate app provider for your device. Pretty simple!
  15. OBJECTIVE: Obtain three units of medical supplies and return to your deployment area to win. Medical supplies may be found in the Hospital (one unit per figure searching, but the place is crawling with zombies, and you can't fight and search in the same round), in Police Cars (fifty fifty chance of finding one unit of supplies, one search only) or in Ambulances (one search only, 1d6 units of supplies). The hospital is in the middle of the terrain board. There are two police cars, randomly placed. The ambulance is on the far side of the board from your deployment area. However, there are only twenty zombies on the board in the streets at the moment... but that could change the moment someone opens fire. What do you do?
  16. So first time poster here! I am a miniature fan and I play warhammer and a lot of pathfinder. My collection is thus devided between the two. I am active on the wargamer forums, but those do not understand rpg mini painting! So when the Reaper kickstarter rolled around I was in rather quickly. I never really order directly from Reaper due to high costs for shipping to europe (dutchy here), but with a set 25$, I was so in. That also led me to finally register here. :) It also led me to start painting up all the 'left over' rpg mini's I have laying around. It took a bit of courage, but I figured I'd show some of my work on these classic reaper zombies. I had them laying around for over a year now and since they tend to get used during the Pathfinder, I figured why the hell not. I used sort of a speedpaint technique on them. I decided to try to emulate swamp bases with these zombies, using sand to up the base height a bit and then create small, very small, 'lakes' of water effects with green wash. Hope ya like it.
  17. In practice for Zombicide which we are receiving later my wife and I are trying a few of the Reaper Zombies (http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/zombie/latest/77014). We are playing with a few different colours to see what can be achieved and what looks good. Here's the first two: Next up is L2PK4, will try to get some better photos closer up too. All these ones so far have been a bit too far away I think. Here's our previous Learn 2 Paint efforts: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46096-groupopenwip-l2pk1/?p=710480 http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46157-opengroup-wip-l2pk2/?p=716101
  18. I have been out of the hobby for ages. Here are some I painted in an earlier life, when drybrushing was king. These were used together with the Zombie Werewolf, its pups as it were. They were drybrushed over a black undercoat as far as I remember, mainly old roundpot Citadel and "Miniature Paints by Gamecraft" (smell exacly the same, I belive these were made by the same manufacturer, what today sells as "Coat D'arms". Some of these paints I have with price tags dated 1998 and earlier. And they are still perfectly usable (!). And yes -I am reusing the same text as in other oldies but goldies posts. since it pretty much does say what it needs to ;)
  19. So, on the way to work this morning I was coming up on one of those largish construction signs that have a message or messages typically warning of construction ahead. But this one caught my eye as it read, "Mutant Zombies Ahead" I'd have gone back and taken a picture with my phone if I hadn't already been running late for work. It was really sort of surreal. It took several moments of, 'did I read that right?' for it to sink in. If it's still there tomorrow, I'll stop and get a picture. Begs the question, does the construction crew have a since of humor, or are those things pretty easy to get into and program?
