  1. For my Spring Exchange, I had RomulanCmdr and knowing she likes sci-fi stuff, I embarked upon a journey to paint up a piece that I thought she'd like. I had gotten Sally Starfield a while back (she's a bombshell babe sculpted by Patrick Keith) and this particular figure inspired me to think about where she'd be and what she'd be doing. Figures: Sally Starfield by Bombshell Miniatures - SKU# 10002 Bones Chthon by Reaper Miniatures - SKU# 92639 Without further ado, here's the story of Sally Starfield and her encounter upon Planet 045Z-Beta. Encounter on Planet 045Z-Beta Sally Starfield, being the lead scout, was selected to visit Planet 045Z-Beta to search for any intelligent life upon the service as the scans from orbit indicated that in the absence of life, the planet was rich in resources. Scans couldn't penetrate the strange radiation coming from the planet to determine life though, so Sally was selected to go forth and explore. She walked along the desolate surface for a while when suddenly a hideous creature sprang forth from the ground. It was clicking and clacking it's huge mandibles and a green ooze was emanating forth from its body. Sally quickly drew forth her laser pistols and took aim...
  2. I'm putting together a Lovecraftian themes group for a game and have been painting some Bathalians. Here are two Primarchs, an Exarch, a Centurion, and a Hound of Tindalos. One of the Primarchs is metal and the other is Bones. Can you tell which? I used these to experiment with new washes and colors I rarely use. I still have a handful of Kulathi to paint to round out the group. Here they are with Cthulhu.
  3. I'm continuing on my goal of painting up the bones expansion 3 for use in an x-com game. Today I have the gray aliens, I ended up basing them with Mars rocks because they were molded already standing on rocks.
  4. Finished something for a change! This is Tempest, she's a fierce Dragyri Warrior from the Dark Age range and you can find her WIP here. Really pleased with how she turned out, and I think I levelled up my blending skills a bit working on her. Any comments and critiques are most appreciated.
  5. AKA - Shiny Syndrome strikes again! As usual my latest minis have elbowed their way to the front of my painting queue, they always look so much cooler when they're new! Anyways, here's the Tempest:- She's a Dragyri Warrior from Dark Age. At this point I've done my best to prep and prime her, the casting isn't great in places on this one. And here she is after I've started on her skin:- Since she's an alien she gets alien skin, which means I can't use my precious Flesh Wash! So at the moment I'm attempting to paint it from the shade layer up, starting with a basecoat of 4:2 Vallejo Flat Flesh/Vallejo Hexed Lichen. I then moved on to the mid-tone layer of 4:1 Flat Flesh/Hexed Lichen, unfortunately (due to my not particularly level wet palette) this paint mix decided to mingle with it's Lava Orange neighbour, so I didn't get this step finished last night.
  6. Hello, I recently finished making a UFO invasion game using minis from around the globe, but quite a few of my terror and more powerful alien invaders came from Reaper, so I thougth I would share. I dont consider these competition pieces, just fun pieces for tabletop. 99-100% airbrushed as usual The UFO: Incursion response force is meant to play similar to the old X-com series and I had quite a bit of fun trying it out on new players at tacticon last week. I think my best compliment was the repeated comments of how some of the nastier turns in gameplay mirrored the old xcom game, such as when a gray takes over a sniper on a tower, and makes him drop a grenade wiping out him and his rocket launcher buddy cleaning off the tower. =) Or the rookie who saved a civilian, only to be taken over and shoot the civilan in the head. The bulk of the Grey army was Gray's from Zombiesmith(cute attitude and enormous heads) but the alien overlord had to be the reaper overloard. He plays the part so wonderfully well with the glowing eyes. Next time itll be a terror mission against the rest of the mini's shown here. Happy gaming/painting!
