  1. Hello everyone, here are some pictures of a fun little model I completed last night. 02018, Wolf Familiar sculpted by Richard Kerr or Julie Guthrie... It stands on a 20mm square base. Hey Janelle, what's wrong with Wolfie?
  2. Hello everyone, here are pictures of a 77341 Lioness. This Bones model was sculpted by Geoff Valley. I painted it as a Black (Blue) Panther. I kept the original base and sculpted additional high grass around to incorporate it to a larger 2 inches square base. The trees are dried roots.
  3. Hi everyone, here are two Reaper 03277 Hyena. These Dark Heaven Legends models were sculpted by Jason Wiebe.
  4. Gotta touch up some areas later like the excess paint in the mouth. But other than that I'd say it's tabletop ready! :)
  5. Now, you may be reading that and going, "Aard, that's a Small-sized mini. Even on a 32mm base!" and you would be correct... except IRL Axolotls only hit around 9-13 inches, so I'm gonna argue that a golden retriever-sized one is giant, regardless. I fell in love with this little guy two Reapercons ago, when I saw him in the previews. I went "oh, man, I need 20." Then I got to Reapercon, and I went "oh, man, I need 20." And as I flew home from the convention, I pulled out my blister full of axolotls, and I had... a few more than 20. Oh well. I've given away like 30 of them, and I he
  6. Recently I painted a Crypt Lord and in the Show Off there was an introduction. See and read it here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/87523-asar-crypt-lord-by-glitterwolf/ @Gadgetman! commented that he wanted to see the goat. So here it is, it's from the Animal Companion Set sculpted by @TaleSpinner Reaper Sku 03719. I love your animal sculpts Andrew, they are a real pleasure to paint! Omar's son, Mehmet herded the goats but his mind was elsewhere, one of the goats wandered off without him noticing it. Our adventurous animal
  7. The Celestial Stag from Reaper Miniatures (03907). I painted this for a character in a DnD game that has a habit of shifting into a stag. I'm quite happy with the base.
  8. Here is a figure I painted for the game Rangers of Shadow Deep. Buckyball
  9. Hi everyone, here is the wolf model from Ral Partha's TSR D&D 10-512 Monsters Boxed Set produced in 1992. I painted this one a while ago. It's a 25mm scale metal "lead" miniature that was sculpted by Richard Kerr.
  10. Good day everyone, here is a Bear Rider Command (Bear only) that was produced by Grenadier in 1995. My friend had this miniature for a long time and the original Standard bearer Dwarf rider was nowhere to be found. This model was sculpted by Sandra Garrity and Reaper have an alternate version of it under the name 02294, Thorondil of Kragmarr.
  11. Good day everyone, here is a 77202, Warg I painted recently for an unexpected encounter in my D&D campaign. The adventurers managed to avoid the fight by sacrificing one of their horse to the hunting ogress and the two worg they were ambush by. This model was sculpted by Jason Wiebe. I painted it with acrylics and mounted it on a 25 x 50mm base. I forgot to remove a huge mold line on the direwolf face, so I decided to paint it as if it was a scar. I also cut off a chunk of its right ear, I think it gives it a nasty look.
  12. So I posted these sketches for new sculpt ideas to my social medias and got some good feedback. Everyone seemed to be a big fan of the Raccoon and since he was one of my favorites from the pack also, I decided to sculpt him! I didn't have my phone with me to get pics of the initial wire frame and GS layer but I went over that with some Fimo clay and baked an underlying structure now and I'll start layering my Primo on top of that.
  13. All of a sudden, two bear-sized rodents covered in open sores and overripe pustules emerges from the debris piled up in the corner of the oubliette. They rush towards you their open maws showing six-inch incisors. Here are the 77198, Barrow Rats, Dark Heaven Bones sculpted by Julie Guthrie.
  14. Every DM needs wolves. These were bare metal used on the gaming table for far too long! I've been wanting to paint these for a long time, but was intimidated by the fur. I finally decided to take the plunge. I did some research on the web for images for inspiration, as well as the forums. Here's what I came up with. C&C Welcome. First, the individuals. Here was the inspiration photo from google images for a varied color gray wolf. This is what I came up with for him. Coincidentally, it ended up very similar to Anne's picture
  15. This is the Bones Dire Bear Sku 77494. I painted him for my Horde of the North project WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79398-horde-of-the-north-glitterwolf-paints-barbarians-and-mammoths/
  16. Started assembling this guy, the horn got glued on wrong so I had to separate it and reposition. Still going to greenstuff the gaps but got these pics to check the positioning of the horn.
  17. I decided to get this and paint it for my Mom for Christmas. Arrived like this: Airbrush Primer: Base coated dark green, realized tortoises don't have green shells so went over the shell with sequential layers of Ochre/Burnt Umber mix, followed by ochre several times. Drybrushed dark blue over the skin. Washed the shell with burnt umber, washed just the crevices with a thin black wash. Highlighted the shell with mid yellow, did some speckling of red green and blue on the head and neck.
  18. I'm not entirely sure what this is supposed to be; I got it in a group of figures that I bought on Ebay. I know it's by Grenadier, and that's it. I painted this up as part of my Morihalda challenge; to a (hopefully) decent tabletop standard. Those eyes were tons of fun.
  19. These are the two hyenas from Jason Wiebe's 03277: Hyena Pack (2). I painted them up as spotted hyenas, as that is what they most look like. I find I am enjoying painting realistic mammals because it gives a lot of opportunity for play with a fairly limited palette. (See, for example, how I recently painted wolves and wolves and wolves, and what I learned from doing it.) There is no WIP thread. I have a photo book of Zimbabwe, so I played a little bit with backgrounds.
  20. These gorgeous wolves (Thunderbolt Mountain 8560) are the nicest giant wolf sculpts I have ever seen. They are by the legendary Tom Meier. IMPORTANT: TOM MEIER IS CLOSING HIS THUNDERBOLT MOUNTAIN STORE DEC. 25 OF THIS YEAR, SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, GO THERE NOW! They are pretty big. I mounted them on 1.5" fender washers for extra stability. Tom Meier sells optional goblin riders for them. WIP thread with extensive color notes, painting details, and comparison to other wolf figures her
  21. I had these in an RAFM blister and as I recall their bases said RAFM (I glued them to 1.5-inch fender washers for stability). I haven't been able to identify them. They look like the sorts of giant wolves that are ridden by goblins. I am not sure where they came from. Well, apart from RAFM, obviously. They are pretty big. Here's a size comparison with the RAFM one on the far right: Left to right these are: a wolf from Reaper 02830; a wolf from Reaper 77176; Reaper 03682 Willow Greenivy; a giant wolf from Thunderbolt Mountain 8560; and an RAFM mystery wolf.
  22. Finished these three from my first wip post so I'm milking them for another post here in show off. I'd love to hear your thoughts. First as a group: cow: Side a (frontish?) B-side Pig goat close up of goat face b-side group shot Thanks for looking! WIP can be found here:
  23. *** Rise Creatures of Chaos !!!!*** *** It's time for Mankind to fall !!!*** A while ago I purchased this one through the Bay of Evil. It is supposed to be the Forged Monkey's bust. I have some doubts though. It was shown as an original, but it came without the original packing. Also I had to remove a lot of flash and needed heavy greenstuffing.. Could be a knock off. However I will paint it.. Started prepping.
  24. Ive said it before, I'll say it again: I like painting animals. when I found Babu I couldn't resist the cuteness.
  25. I got the critters as an addon to the DSM kickstarter recently. The first thing I am painting is this guy, a musk ox warrior. He's big, so priming took a while. And I am using a crummy brush for base coating all this fur because it is a brush mangler until I get to the nitpicky stuff. I'm trying to make the small bit of chainmail 1) NMM to see if I can do it and 2) slightly tarnished. I don't think thia guy is good at cleaning. Armor color themes I am thinking dark red primarily, with black, blue, and green accents. I was looking up eskimo art for the sake of doing hi
