  1. A pair of Bones bears (or the bear Bones, if you like) I tried to paint these from pictures of real-life grizzly bears. Every time I paint an animal it ends up with a chaotic riot of washes and highlights in different colours until it looks enough like the source images to satisfy me. I doubt if I could paint another one and get the same colour! The coat of the Dire bear is much coarser, which really shows in the photo (like the fine moulding line on the Cave Bear's face) but is less bothersome in more natural light. I painted these as companions to my Stone Giant tribe
  2. By Velrock on Thingiverse. I used a lighter winter color scheme for the pack. I know they look all cute and fluffy but they are really vicious hunters. I did these three as part of my July 4th holiday weekend Paint Binge. I used a combination of Secret Weapon bases and base inserts.
  3. Sis and I painted two sets of these inbetween other stuff. Hope you like them!
  4. Mostly aimed at Frostgrave, Ghost Archipelago, and Rangers of Shadow Deep, here's some more completed miniatures from Reaper Bones 4. Clever girls. Ape Attack! "But no one ever asks, Howvern?" They're here to harass KoRn: I'm a big fan of the tongue-lashing sculpt. Dreadmere's Giant Leeches, painted up to be Purple Wormlings:
  5. This grouping is themed by them all being some sort of critter. Very precise, I know. They fall into two sub-groups: The loyal: And the verminous. The manufacturers are all over the place. The War Pugs are Reaper Bones, the other dog is a Frostgrave Warhound. The Giant Spider, Hawk, and Ticks are again from Reaper Bones, the Owl from Stonehaven, and the Rats are from Games-Workshop with the exception of the Spawnrat from Dark Platypus Studios.
  6. My Druid found a tan bag of tricks in a Dragons horde. So now animals are on my list... here’s some heyenas
  7. This is fun, and certainly gives one ideas for some interesting conversions... A researcher fed the names of D&D beasts into a neural network, and let it come up with it's own names for some new D&D creatures based on the patterns it detected. https://kotaku.com/d-d-creatures-created-by-a-neural-network-are-weird-1824059929
  8. These are what I finished painting this year, a year that was somewhat abbreviated by world events. Really, this is what I painted in the last six months, since political dismay kept me from the miniatures table for approximately eight months after the last US Presidential election. This year I painted my first Reaper Warlord figures who were also my first oversized werewolves, 77754 the Rageclaw Slayer, and 77755, Aislinn, Shadow Tracker. Nearly everything I painted was for the White Wolf World of Darkness and Exalted. Left to Right Links: http://
  9. I saw these clear plastic Animals at Target today, and I thought I’d pass along the find thinking somebody might be able to use them for some kind of spell effect or magic animal. There were two sets at my store: a dinosaur and a safari. They were $3 each, and located in the under $5 area at the front of the store. The scale varied widely from animal to animal. Some appeared to fit with 28mm figures.
  10. Note: All of these are from Reaper Bones #77176 (familiar pack) I haven't done the bases for these yet, those will be done later. I also accidentally deleted the photo of the ferret... Sorry. First up, the Fox. Not bad... Not GOOD, but not bad either. Second, the Cat. I decided to do it as a Siamese cat, 'cause it doesn't look too "fluffy", and I hate black cats (even though both of mine happen to be black...). Though it turned out okay, I did notice afterwords the large seam along it's back (too late now), and that I failed to do a proper "fade" on it's front-right leg... Th
  11. These are some plastic animals by Model Power intended for O scale railroads ("Model Power" No. 6171, "36 Unpainted Animals, O-027 Scale"). They are a little large and a little crudely modeled, but until Reaper came out with its new animal companions they were what I had. These cows are painted up as Ancient White Parks, a heritage breed from Britain that dates to the thirteenth century. The goat is another heritage breed, but I don't remember which. The sheep is a sheep. Here they are for scale with a not-quite-finished Reaper 60079: Lyrie Akenja. As you can see,
  12. Alas. All monies must go to Dark Sword for the sheer adorableness... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/823962857/critter-kingdoms-anthro-animals-miniatures-line-ex?ref=hero_thanks
  13. So to finish off the month of March I decided to go ahead and post two little critters I painted recently. I normally would wait to post these guys with the entire piece but I wanted to get them in for the RPChallenge. So here they are prior to basing. And the best shots I could easily get with them on their new home. They both were fun little paints with so much character I love adding critters to bases as they bring such life to a scene.
  14. Hey all, This might be a bit surprising, but I'm having some trouble finding just normal boars. I can find plenty of dire boars or boar riders, but zippo when it comes to a garden-variety one. Any ideas? Oh, and price is definitely a consideration.
  15. Oi everyone! My fiancé has given me the BESTEST (yes, bestest!) birthday gift EVER: over 30 miniatures which arrived just yesterday, along with a sample bottle of MSP paint (thank you Reaper packaging team)! :D I finally feel like I'm getting serious about this hobby. This, and I've watched easily over 5 hours of YouTube vids just about painting techniques... Let's be honest, I'm no professional, and I'm not using professional tools (except for my brushes). But this is fun! I'll be posting my work here, and if you have some tips especially for the scenery, I'll be glad to read it
