  1. Because I have not seen one since I came here many moons ago, and even if there is such I would have to perform necromantic rituals to awaken it, I've decided to see if there is enough interest to keep one going the only way I know how. By starting it myself. So, let's discuss, just remember to keep it PG 13 and watch for spoilers. So my friends, what examples of this art form are you enjoying at present? right now I am re-reading Ken Akamatsu's break out classic 'Love Hina' and waiting for the next episode of "Outbreak Company" to air
  2. A little more than 48 hours left for this one, I think it looks really cool. http://kck.st/2z0HjUk Kamigakari: God Hunters is a tabletop role-playing game set in modern-day Japan that combines centuries of Japanese mythology with a modern-day setting and urban fantasy action. You play as a God Hunter, a being wielding supernatural strength, magical abilities, and reality-warping spiritual powers. Your mission is to protect an unsuspecting populace from evil beings known as Aramitama, and to prevent the supernatural from leaking into the public eye. Originally, t
  3. Not as happy with Candy as I was with Sugar, but she was fun to paint. She does have pupils in her eyes, honest. I've just noticed a strip of white on the top of her left thigh. Great.
  4. This is my third(!) attempt to paint Sugar. She almost ended up back in a bowl of Simple Green but this time I persevered. Her eyes aren't perfect but I'm happy with the way she came out — although not 100% sure about her hair — and I'm getting better at painting white. The sad-looking teddy is from the City Scenics Back Alley Accessories set by TTCombat.
  5. As my first airbrush attempt on the Roman centurio was halted by the fact that the figure is so small, I decided to use a different figure, which would be ... bigger. So in Japan I got me a number of garage kits. One of them was a figure of a nun or mage (I don't know the figure, so I have no idea) and as it was some kind of a miscast or so, I got it for the cheap price of around 6 Euro. She's big enough to do some airbrush work. And as I want to train airbrushing, I don't want to ruin my first attempt by choosing wrong colours or too difficult painting concepts.
  6. Well then, Let's go on. As written in my WIP thread ->Check Here<-, the first few Gallian infantry units for my Valkyria Chronicles scenario ->Check Here<- are done. That means: First few units are ready to be shown. As I wrote, those are units I made over a time frame of almost 4 years now, so I guess a constant quality improvement is clearly visible. Still - even if they are not perfect to the last, every of these figures is quite dear to me. As you can see, on the first two I tried to apply eyes, but it look
  7. I finished this lady as my 3rd done since I ended my long painting hiatus. Took pictures a while ago, and until finals are done, no lightbox or new painting for me. But hey, I like the subjects, so I have that going for me. I post because I am trying to distract myself briefly without being thoroughly engrossed. Goals with her: Pale color shading on the dress. I wanted it almost white, kinda a creamy blue. I think it is ever so slightly darker than my initial goal, but still alright. Anime girl. As I was looking at her, I realized that I didn't want her to be just another
  8. Here's Darkspace Hasami, which I finished today. She's a character from Soda Pop Miniature's Relic Knights game. This is the cosplay version of Hasami who works for an alternate faction, in this case, the Noh Empire. The costume is based off Ryuko Matoi's battle outfit from Kill la Kill (a very weird anime). The connection is that regular Hasami (hasami means "scissors" in Japanese) uses a giant pair of scissors, and Ryuko uses a "scissor blade," which is half of a giant pair of scissors (a scissor?). I had to watch a few episodes to learn that and figure out what was even going on with h
  9. So, I've probably just been watching too many anime shows lately, but I had an idea for an anime-type girl with a bow (and her head shaved all around the sides and just long on the top and done off to the side). I think she came out pretty well. I did a bit of a dolly that I cast in resin. That's why there is a tiny bit of white showing here and there in the midst of all the Green Stuff. There's also a hole in the resin in one leg, so I had to plug that with Green Stuff as well. Anyway, here's a front view... a side view... and a back view. Hope you enjoy h
  10. SHOULD I BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS IS IT A GOOD THING I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS I WANT IT TO BE A GOOD THING
  11. Hello Everyone - We are launching our Kickstarter tonight, April 20, 2015. We hope you all can check it out! It will feature Misaki the Fire Girl, and more minatures will be unlocked along the way. Misaki turned out to be absolutely beautiful, and you can check out close up pics of her on our website. http://www.mkadventures.com/ Thanks for everyone's support! We have been working hard on this, and are ready with Production Metals in hand. Yes, the pictures of the painted Misaki on our website are from the Production Molds... Thanks!
  12. Since I got a pretty good response from the figure I made of Frog from Chrono Trigger and from my Fullmetal Alchemist modified figures, I went on to my next challenge. I want to make a decent figure for Guts, the main character from the Berserk Manga and Anime. Now anyone who is a fan knows that finding an actual mini of him can be difficult, and I'm gonna use it for my next D&D character, so I wanted something special for it. Now I ordered 4 different reaper mini's as candidates, not sure which I'll use yet, as each has something to offer, but none are perfect. Probably will end up a
  13. Well here is my completed Guts from the Berserk Anime and Manga. I used 02962: Killian, Bounty Hunter Not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with the results. If you like to see how I got there, here is my works in progress posts, which lists the things I mainly tried to do but failed, but I may attempt this again and better at a later date. It was quite the learning experience.
  14. Did these as a commission job. The client requested I paint them as the reaper site list them and here's what he got! A little over 6 hours for the lot. The ones that are missing I forgot to take pictures of. I will next post!
  15. So, I don't know if promo is allowed, so message me and I'll remove this if it's not, but I'm just SO. EXCITED! I got featured on the website of the next con I'll be doing the Art Show at! (Awesomecon Indianapolis.) Check it out!
  16. I just came across a random link to a modest looking kickstarter that might be of interest to anime fans. It is a Miyazaki inspired RPG rulebook that sounds kid friendly. And it's only $20 for a printed rulebook, with free shipping worldwide. It isn't something I would normally back, but I like the simple looking project with sensible stretch goals, and I figure the rule book will make a nice gift for my niece. It's got a couple days left, and has already unlocked all the stretch goals. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brentnewhall/the-whispering-road-a-miyazaki-inspired-tabletop-r
  17. VIGNETTE TITLE...SUGAR; GOTHIC PUNK FIGURE...REAPER (SUGAR # 50176) NOTE...With Halloween just a month away; I wanted to do this figure in a hardrock gothic punk style motif as she visits an old grave yard that is the home of a giant spider (who dresses in the same color motif as does Sugar). I tried to keep the vignette simple so as to accent the matching color scheme between Sugar & Spider. I hope you like this early Halloween posting.
  18. It took me about 8 months to complete my Super Dungeon Explore Set. I was excited enough about this to build a lightbox and try to take proper photos of them. I had only painted maybe two dozen minis or so before I started this project so you can definitely see my skill improve over the course of the project. You can see all the photos on my flickr, but I've put a few of my favorite below. Comment. Criticize. Hurl broken glass. Whatever seems appropriate.
