Arthur Wanderhat, Wizard: 02905 Paint by: Arc 724 Sculpted by: Geoff Valley Title: Usidore the Blue The second figure done in honor of Hello From The Magic Tavern. This is Usidore the Blue. I was very pleased how he turned out. I got the red face of a wizard that drinks a lot of mead. Ha! As well as his staff that I sculpted in the rock based on the lore of the type of stone he has in it. Finally the bird is paint to be a sparrow - his favorite type of bird. The base is also sculpted.

Half Orc Merchant Painted by: Arc 724 Sculpted by: Bobby Jackson __________________________________________________ Title: The Merchant of Backwater This piece was one of particular interest for me. I remember the first time I saw it I just had to paint it. It seemed so odd but had so much personality. The very last picture: The last picture is of the bottom the base. I used this wood chip from a woodcrafters store. I'm fairly certain my grandfather - who lived in Tulsa OK until his death - went to this store all the time. He was Sales me by Trade and a craftsmen by... other trade. I thought it fitting to use this chip on the Half Orc Merchant. Thank you all for the support. 03821: Half Orc Merchant I saw this guy and all I could think of was a random merchant walking between towns trying to stop you before you go to town and buy his wares. He might even have a quest or two at some point. The first photo is the base work I did on him. These is a VERY heavy miniature. I decided to keep him attached and just sculpt a base around his to blend. There will be grass and what not at the end which will blend things even better. I primed this chap then started working on his back pack and decided I should stop and do the face since it is usually the hardest point for me. It came out well and I may tweak it a be by the end. I wanted him to look like a "Fancy man" trying to get your attention and putting his best face forward to sell his wares. HA! The back pack coloration is inspired by the Legend of Zelda Breath of the wild treasure chest I saw online; dark brown with gold trim. Also in this picture you can see the rest of the base. I wanted to portray him possibly breaking over a direction sign (to the town) so you will ask him then he would offer his wares.

Gudridr the Golden by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Hope everyone enjoys this one. This was a resin miniature from the kickstarter. The base is MDF that I cut in half with my scalpel then applied Greenstuff/Epoxy to and sculpted the brink pattern. The rocks on top are actual rocks and sand. FYI - because it's resin on an MDF base with greenstuff it's super light weight. I didn't like the idea of adding height to the miniature by just sculpting the brink on top of the standard MDF base. My solution is as you can see. I tired going simpler in the color scheme with this one and I think it turn out great.

General Drake: 50147 Sculpted by Bobby Jackson Woah! This was a miniature that I put on a shelf for WAY to long. I'm glad to be done with him. Really enjoyed this one. And no that is not a snake at his feet it is a cable... but I realize now it looks like a snake. Oh well. I hope you guys and gals enjoy it. I tried to make the brim of his cap look reflective. it turned out alright. The back drops are Hanger18, FYI. Action pose! WORK-IN-PROGRESS for General Drake

Primaris Space Marine (Warhammer 40,000) by Games Workshop This was my first warhammer figure I've ever done. I've always enjoyed the theme of the game but never really like the Space Marines because they are to short. When I saw these new, taller, ones I actually got excited to paint one. The height on these guys are amazing. They really have a better feel about them. The issue was that I only wanted to paint one (for now) and that is when a friendly forumnite told me about this book they just released "Getting Started with Warhammer 40,000." I jumped at the chance at the book comes with one miniature on a nice base for only $15. I called my local GW store and they saved it for me. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to just paint a miniature and not spend loads of cash on a single miniature or a three pack. I decided to go with a blood angel look for this guy. But I wanted to make it look a little unique so I did those grey chevrons on the shoulder and knee. This was also the first time I've done battle damage like you see here. It was FAR easier than I thought and the look is wonderful! I was very happy the way it turned out. With this guy I did fill in the base with GreenStuff to give the model a little bit more weight. You can see that in the WIP below. Thanks for the support. WORK-N-PROGRESS for this piece.

So I finally got this book and began prepping the miniature that came with it. I'm really impressed with the design of the new Primaris. Very well done. To start I felt like the over all miniature needed some more weight to it. I mixed up some sculpty and green stuff and filled in his base and pressed the remaining into his back. It still fits together cause there is a lot of hollow space in him. The only reason I knew it was light was they had a few on display at the Games Workshop store so I got to pick one up.

50147: General Drake Sculpted by Bobby Jackson I went with the non-broccoli base version. I got inspired to this one after a Battletech game that involved the rescue of a general. Now I do the Massive Voodoo 2-step priming method. It really helps me to wrap my mind around the shading. 2-Step priming then grey Scaled the photo. I did some white, diluted, and began bring up all the light spots for even more contrast. Diluted Ginger Bread Brown(2:1 -water): With a focus of lifting the brush off in the darker areas. The Real Magic is applying a Brown Wash (3:1 - using Flow Improver(FI)) to the entire jacket. Multi-stepped process: Taking a New color from the CAV:SO KS I use it to trim the appropriate areas. I then when over them with Leather White. Next I under Brown Wash again (2:1 - water). Re-highlighted with Leather white. Dry Brushed leather white along the bottom of the jack. The photo doesn't display the effect very well. Then Re-washed in a 4:1 Brown Wash, until it all blended. Finally I took a VJ Brown and use it in the mid section of the highlights to give the Leather a multi-toned effect. 1.} 2.} 3.} 4.} I'm still not done with it but I'm pleased with the effect. I used Massive Voodoo's Leather Tut. for inspiration and some photo's of Worn learn. My efforts lately have been to do it in a timely manner. I would say I did that in less that 20 mins. But I was watching Netflix and screwing around so it was about an hour. :P

Frodwine the Young by Red Box Games Sculpted by Tre Manor I painted this one in an effort to cross two or three lines together; 1800 trapper, Final Fantasy wizard and Nordic(in terms of the way Tre Manor sculpted it). I wanted to try some OSL on this one so I went with making his eyes glow. I was "o.k" with the way it turned out. The base is a metal base from a set I got in the Box-of-goodwill a few boxes ago. I'm on a NMM kick right now so no TMM on this one. Over all I am luke-warm with out this turned out. The matte varnish (Vallejo) kind of glossed up for some reason when I sealed it... You live and learn. Hope you like it.

Hvitrafn the Strange by Red Box Games Sculptor: Tre Manor Resin with a hand sculpted base. With this one I had to shave down an standard MDF circle base (from warsenal wargaming terrain). I didn't want the base to be too high off the standard but look more natural. I think it came out very well. Hope you guys and gals like it. Thanks for looking. C&C welcome. Stared work on this guy finally! I sculpted the base myself. I really like that he is slight bending at the knees which made him standing on the stairs i made look more authentic. On to the painting! Texture is the name of the game from this weekend. GW: Vomit Brown (which is like a yellow brown) on the tunic. Several coats until I could not see grey from the primer. GW: Vomit Brown & Leather White (my favorite paint bottle ) [4:1] - To do some upper highlights on the all the raised areas. Dotting or Stippling with a Mixture: GW Vomit Brown mixed with Walnut brown. So the color was a little darker than the tunic's primary color. Then stippled or dotted with Walnut brown over THE ENTIRE THING. After that I did some diluted brown washes pushing into the recesses and some re-highlighting, re-shadowing, etc etc. The pants: Painted in Leather White highlighted in PURE White washed in Muddy Brown (which is a green brown.) The bag: Painted Royal Purple, highlighted with Leather white then washed in Muddy Brown

So I did a thing! Latching onto other post of similar title - most notable being @Willen's "Homemade Paint Shaker" - I wanted to create one myself. The objective was to be fast, easy and easy to manage while being multi-functional (it can still be used as a jigsaw). I caught the jigsaw on sale for $10 at Harbor Freight... The Aluminum piece is a sample for some of our material we use here at work. I've seen similar shaped piece at Home Depot. You would have to cut them down and drill the holes for it. I use it cause it was free. The great thing about this is the paint bottle rests against the bolt at the bottom, the Velcro holds it in place horizontally and the rubber band holds it in place vertically. Now I will warn you it is not silent... but well worth it. I did a test on a paint i had not used in over a year: 1-Right out of the bottle, 2-Hand shaken, 3-Jigsaw Shaken. And I can tell you what, that jigsaw shaken bottle was FAR better than I thought it ever was. I mean I really shake them well when i do it with my hands but not nearly as well as that Jigsaw. Hope this helps someone. Please feel free to ask question or anything. If you have any other homemade paint shaker links feel free to post them in here too so we keep them all connected. Removed the hardware (shiny bits) from the jig saw. Using the an allen wrench. Bent the guide rail up and out of the way. It's useless anyway for the jigsaw. I would cut it off if I had the tool. Took Angled aluminum with pre-drilled holes and screw in in place over the existing blade clamp on the jigsaw. ON TOP not under where the blade clamps in. Adhesive Velcro: Cut a length and doubled it over leaving one end ope to stick to the aluminum piece. Cut Velcro section (opposing side) and stuck to aluminum piece Placed bottle onto new apparatus & used rubber band to secure vertical movement. (rubber band doubles as wire management when not in use)

Rothmartyn of the DarkWold by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Quality: Table Top PLUS This piece is TT+ but it also has a more of a "reach" in it than a TT+. I attempted a more elaborate freehand with the cloak - which you can see on the WIP linked at the bottom. As well as I attempted NMM for the first time. Now let me give you some context on that last sentence. I typically do TMM (True Metallic Metals) and I do them in virtually the same manner but with the added benefit (IMHO) of having actual reflection while on the table. So yes this was my first execution of NMM successfully, it is not far from my normal. All in all I think it turned out well. The green blade as well is in NMM effect. For this piece I really wanted to ascent texture which I attempted on the tunic that is laying across his legs. And other bits and bobs. The face is pretty basic which is one of the reasons I didn't do a close up of it. RBG faces from this era are pretty small and the eyes are tiny. So tiny seeing a pupil and reflection mark would be... useless in my opinion. But I would say it turned out well. More personality than I thought I was going to give it. I was B+ satisfied with the cloak. I tried doing a suggestion @Darcstaar gave me but I think I executed it "o.k". I'll try again with another model. I attempted a few new things with this piece and I like how it turned out. Thank you all for your help and support. Would really enjoying your questions, comments and critiques on this. Haven't had much time to take photo's of a WIP on the warband I've been working on but now that I'm done with them and can work on individual figures at time I figured I would show you guys what I'm working on. The cloak is painted in Monarch Purple then washed in Reaper Brown wash to dull itThis is done because of the free hand pattern I'm planning on putting on it I want to be subtle but noticeable. The horizontal lines on the cloak are done in Monarch purple. You can see how the brown wash really dulled the purple to make the original color pop a bit more.These are guidelines as the moment. To keep the coloration similar I did what I like to call a wash-invert. The brown is washed with a diluted Monarch Purple and the Purple is washed in Browns. And the browns look very purple in the photo but they are not that bad. The center armored tunic is paint VLJ German Grey then the recess' are washed in Gloss black. The Belt is painted in gloss black. This is really just surface stuff right now. I'm going to get into it this weekend. I got bored and had him primed while working on my warband and did some of his base.

Baba Yaga Hut Company: Eastern Front Studios Painted by: ME (Iron Bristle Studios) I have more photo's on my website but I didn't want to clog up Reapers forums with them all. There is already a lot here. Finally finished this beast! What a project. I really hope my fellow Forumnite friends enjoy this. I did OSL and new shading techniques. I attempted to do better with my photographing in many ways. I even bought Hanger 18 back grounds. The big ones though... I didnt have a back drop large enough so I had to use a black sheet. Baba Yaga Hut by Eastern Front Studios I'm trying to get back to getting WIP out. Now that I finished my big warband and am working on another commission piece. I'll take more photo's tonight of my progress. Hope you guys like what I'm doing. 0 - This is the start of the process getting the miniature ready. I had to dremel out the bottom and the left over resin. The next step (wish I have already done) is to dremel out the whole for the magnet. 1- The Kickstarter that my customer brought me came with 10 pieces of fence. That only wanted them at a Tabletop Standard (TT) so I basically finished those already. Although I know I will come back to them at the end and put a little extra in for them. And the two Bab Yaga's; standing and action pose! LOL 2- at this point I'm applying the primary colors to the standing Baba Yaga. More picture to come. I have already got the magnets in and covered with GreenStuff and got some good freehand work on both Baba's.

So I've gotten into OSL and I wanted to find some MUCH brighter paints and I've always wanted them. So what do you guys prefer? Any recommendation? My search has only included those from Reaper: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Bright

Pretty Laerke by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor This archer was an absolute joy to paint. From the moment I saw her I saw a red head. Probably highly influenced by Brave but oh well. I wanted to do some free hand on her under tunic but I could not decide on it so I left it. The base is hand sculpted too. I have a resin one from RBG coming in soon and I'm thinking of doing it as her sister and make her standing on a similar base maybe a different type of red hair. Not sure yet. Enjoy!

Njorn Thugs by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Here we have the Thugs from the Njorn character set. I really liked painting these guys. Very dynamic and interested. They had a wide variety in their weapons and poses. Continuing with my new Object Source Lighting (OSL) I painted up a solider with a torch in his hand. It turned out much better than I had thought I was going to do. Additionally, I did a blue glaze on the spearmans metallic's to get a more realistic look. First time I've really done that too. To me... It looks pretty good. I will probably try it out on all of my weapons and armors again. That's about it. I hope you enjoy this. Thank you for stopping by. Njorn Hirdmen by Red Box Games Sculpted by Tre Manor Standard Table Top for these guys. I was a little in a hurry but it turned out well enough. I sculpted the bases and used some brick corners from some bricks Ub3r gave me. Again with these guys I put some Nordic runes on them. I hope you guys like them.

Ejrvindr the Far Seeing by Red-Box-Games Sculpted by Tre Manor This guy was particularly fun to paint as I thoroughly enjoy doing leather. His clock was a labor of love. It did turn out to be "leather" but the browns look really nice. I also tried doing a bottle with liquid in it. Didn't turn out how I wanted but it's good enough for tabletop standard. In need find some tutorials on how to paint containers with liquid in them. I had sculpted the base myself - which you will find I do that with everything. The base is the OSL that is projecting up and on to him. Additionally, you'll notice on this series of miniatures I put Nordic runes on some of the miniatures. You can see that here on Ejrvindr on the scabbard of his dagger. Thank you all, Enjoy!

Wise Frodulf by Red-Box-Games Sculpted by Tre Manor Here is my rendition of Frodulf. He goes a long with my warband color scheme. This OSL (Object Source lighting) is one of three real steps into the technique. I am happy with the way it turned out. I used an small handheld LED to check lighting for the sword. I kind of broke the rule about the rest of the model being darker for OSL but I wanted him to stand out on the battle field. My free hand work seems to be getting better too with the triangle pattern on him as well. And finally, I sculpted the bricks myself out of greenstuff. I really hope you guys like him.

The Undead Horde by Mantic Miniatures Skeleton (10) Ghouls (2) Zombies (3) Table Top Quality ​ Got these guy from a Box of Goodwill Exchange and I tell you what exactly what we needed for our up coming Frostgrave game we are going to playing. _________________________________________________________________ Your intrepid warband marches confidently on the outskirts of the frozen city. After a long campaign clearing out the area your brave band of soldiers are ready to pursue deeper in to the white laden ruins. The cold wind, although bitter, has become manageable for your warband. Swiftly the winds begin to rush in from the inner part of the frozen Acropolis, deathly cold. Visibility is no more than twenty to thirty feet in front. Ahead you can see the white and grey haze of snow concealing the ruins. Your captain shouts, "halt" as the warband freezes in it's tracks. A slight sound of creaking then the dull murmur of metal sliding across stone and ice. The sound echos through the winds shaking your men to their cores. Slowly but suddenly a troop of skeletons flanked by two heavily armoured skeletons appear in the distance. It's just as you feared... _________________________________________________________________ -=The idea was to make them look like they are slowly marching out of the snow blind. It's so cold snow is sticking to them. =- -= The snow flocking turned out better than I expected. I copied the techniques of some fellow Frostgrave players here on the forums and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Although with these it's hard to see but some other Frostgrave miniatures (which you'll see later) It turned out excellently. =- -=This has been an entire painting season for me. LOTS of wargaming stuff and it is all finished around now. I hope you guys like it.=- This was one of my second attempt at OSL.
