Axolotls are awesome, and one of the reasons I got the fan favorites expansion. they come in many colors of white pink, blue brown, yellow and spotted. The yellow clothing is the same shades as one variety, but seemed to bright for a thief, so he sat unpainted until I saw the yellow spotted version. I came up with a racial trait for 5e: Axolotl Regeneration: during a short rest, spend 1 hit die and regain up to half your max hit points. This ability recharges during a long rest. during a long rest you can regrow a lost limb.
Now, you may be reading that and going, "Aard, that's a Small-sized mini. Even on a 32mm base!" and you would be correct... except IRL Axolotls only hit around 9-13 inches, so I'm gonna argue that a golden retriever-sized one is giant, regardless. Reaper released a new miniature for each of the 4 factions at ReaperCon this year. This was the release that represented the River Widows: a woman and a big axolotl, both sculpted by Bobby Jackson. (I figured that "Cailleach" was Gaelic but I didn't know how to say it. A web-search says it is like "Kal-ee-akh". The diphthong "ai" is the sound in our word "pal", not "pile".)
