This was a surprise Christmas present from very kind friends with a printer. The figure is amazing the level of detail and thought is incredible. Which is why it has taken me since Boxing Day to try and do it justice - painting the glyphs was something I could only do for a few minutes before my hands gave up . I've attempted variation of light and weathering and the colours are I hope as authentic as watching every single documentary on National Geographic, Discovery + and the BBC about Aztecs, Inca and Mayans can get me.. The figure is huge and I was lucky to have the chance to paint it

I'm covering this in my Lost World Project also. However since this is basically a Terrain Piece/Diorama thingie, I decided to make a separate WIP as well. So those who are only interested in terrain and such will also see it. It all started when @knarthex his daughter Alsnia posted a pic of her Pet Snake. Then @Pezler the Polychromatic made up a background story See my WIP page 65 http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=65 @malefactushas always inspired me with his great terrain and he also encouraged me... And I have also read the great threads of @Chris Palmer who made fantastic jungle statues. So I knew I had to do this. I bought a Toy Anaconda and a Toy Python. The Anaconda will become Tanith. The Serpent Goddess will be repainted in albino colours like Alsnia's pet, but it will also be part stone. She is in stasis in a statue and now Alsnia the Priestess ( Bones Sarah the Seer) has been chanting and summoning until Tanith sheds her stone skin and breaks out of the statue. The Python will be a gold or bronze statuette on the back of the wall. I'm planning to put torches and sacrifices/gifts on the altar. There will be two pipes coming from the backwall and snakes will pour from those and will be crawling all over the altar. Here is what I've done so far. Then I needed to carve out the shape of the Python to embedd it into the back wall later. Too much gap will be filled with putty. There will also be much stuff likes vines and leaves all over it. So this may take a while.

I'm creating a world in my LOST WORLD PROJECT. When doing this I made a project within a project. WIP's here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/73979-taniths-awakening-by-xherman1964/ http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ Since she would not be visible enough in the diorama alone, I made a separate thread for her. This is ALSNIA @knarthex's daughter. It all started out when the real Alsnia showed a pic of a albino snake with flowers on it's head. Things rapidly spun out of control and the project was born and merged with my own project. For the Show Off of TANITH'S AWAKENING look at this: Here is Alsnia Solo. I used Bones Sarah the Seeress 77210 for this.

Finally got the colors right on this one. Wasn't excited by the "thunder" or spell effect, though, it was a real pain to paint.

I've mentioned here and there on here that I take part in an Aztec-themed D&D game. The DM is an archaeologist who specializes in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, so the campaign has a really fun mixture of Aztec lore and standard D&D fare. My character is an Oath of the Ancients paladin, which we've flavored as an Aztec Jaguar Warrior who worships Xochipilli. Anyway, long story short, Aztec warriors often used a macuahuitl or maquahuitl in battle - a wooden baton edged with obsidian blades that acted a lot like a long sword. Some accounts even said they could decapitate a horse. When I found this cute jaguar hat (OK, OK, leopard, close enough...) on Amazon for a measly $4 shipped, I decided I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a cheap low-key cosplay for laughs. Below are the work in progress pics of me hacking up and painting a dollar store foam saber with some cheap craft store acrylics to make a macuahuitl to go with my "jaguar pelt". Standard issue dollar store toy sword. Obsidian blades roughly marked out with a sharpie. Spaces between the blades cut away with a box cutter. I decided to go over the whole thing with a coat of white glue to fill in some of the pores and smooth some of the particularly rough areas where the foam got chewed up by the box cutter. In a perfect world I'd have given myself more time to work on this and used a foam cutter, but I didn't have the luxury of the former and I don't own the latter. Mostly there on a base coat of light brown with the help of a certain five-year-old daughter. It would end up taking about 3 coats. Obsidian blades done with gloss black. The handle still needs another coat or two, and I planned to wrap it in rough cotton yarn, but I couldn't find it. It's around here somewhere... I should be able to finish it up tomorrow morning before our D&D session.

These are Giant Ant Soldiers from Otherworld Miniatures. I made a scenic base with Milliput and used the Greenworld Stuff Aztec Rolling Pin on it. Then added a Lizardman Skull from Ristul's Extraordinary Market. WIP here for those interested. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ I painted them with a mix of Scale 75, Reaper and Vallejo paints, From Vallejo I used Fluo Red and Fluo Yellow to give that fiery look. Enjoy, Likes and comments welcome. Thx for watching.

Another creature from my Lost World Project. WIP / Story: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ I used a pic from a Gastornis I found on the Internet for reference. The base is from Tabletop Art and I added some foliage. There is a spider on the base too.. So enjoy ( I hope) and thank you to all those who are following my story of the Lost World.

So my last little project is a Christmas present for my wife. We've got a soon to be fifteen year old dog, Bubbles, who is a 3/4 Chihuahua and 1/4 Cocker Spaniel. Now it is utterly impossible, short of having somebody sculpt it, to find such a mix, but I was at least able to find a Chihuahua mage from Dark Sword Miniatures, an incredible figure sculpted by Dave Summers. They call her an Inca Chihuahua mage, but with a few more Aztecky/Mexican colors, I think she turned out okay for what I need her to be. So as to why I'm swearing off Super Glue gel. So last night, all was good, I had just finished painting the dirt and started in on the grass. I had covered the spots I wanted with Super Glue Gel. I normally use Super Glue, but for whatever reason I picked up gel, not thinking it would be a big deal. However, when I dipped the figure into my little grass bag, somehow the gel somehow smeared and went over the figure's cape, muzzle and hand, along with other parts. So at about 10.30 last night I started removing static grass, blade by blade with tweezers from the mini herself. After that I had tons of little spot where the gel had dried to the degree that it peeled paint off the figure so from maybe eleven to midnight I was repainting damaged spots. Also with the gel smear on the back of the base, the glue smeared into the back of the base circle, so when you look at the figures back, you see how the grass ended up going a lot further than I wanted it to. But oh well, the moral of this story is just say no ... to Super Glue Gel. Anyhoos, hope you all enjoy, Merry Christmas and a Happy, Slappy New Year! Mark

Hello again everyone. I've been working away at trying to improve my painting. Reaper Bones 89001 Pathfinder Red Dragon This is the model that made me place my first Reaper order and get back into painting. I've started using sand for basing again and I really enjoy the fine texture it gives. I tried using sealer to "save" my work a few times on this model but I never ended up removing my mistakes, instead I just painted over them. I think this has left some of the details a bit gloopy (e.g. the horns). Overall I am pretty happy with it but I would love to hear any comments. Once I know he is done I am going to Dullcote him and then put some gloss on his tongue. RAFM Durnaoth Elf Halberds and Ral Partha 03-209 Elf Standard Bearer I bought these off eBay not really knowing what they would end up looking like. I find the standard bearer looks a little goofy (reminds me of the Planescape Torment character models) but I really like the Halberdiers. They were weird to assemble, as they were molded with their right hands attached to their thighs. They had to be cut off and their arms bent into place. I still feel like there is a little something missing. Again, any feedback would be great. I am planning to get some gloss spray (Krylon maybe?) for these guys and then I will dullcote them. I will test that on the standard bearer first. My fiancee wants to set them up with the dragon somewhere in our apartment. Crucible 91-221 Orc Eagle Knights Another eBay purchase where I had little idea what I would be getting. I was really excited to find out that these are orcs with an Aztec spin. They are almost where I want them but I still have a few things left to do. Let me know what you think. Thank you!
