    10033, Mousling Heroes boxed set

From the 10033, Mouslings Heroes Boxed Set here's; 03529B, Fenimore the Mousling Archer sculpted by Gene Van Horne.
  3. So these 2 are being done concurrently with the 2 archers for my Frostgrave warband, so there will likely be overlap with the colors used in the 2 WiPs.... So I started doing the flesh on the next parts of my Frostgrave warband, Red Gunhildr the Barbarian, & Little Svein Swiftfoot the Thief.... GW Scorched Brown, Reaper Linen White & SC75 Tesla Blue for the eyes..... Arabic Shadow, Arabic Shadow and Basic Flesh 50%, Basic Flesh, Basic Flesh and Golden Skin 50%, Golden Skin, Golden Skin and Light Skin 50%, light Skin, and a glaze of Golden Skin and Basic flesh 3/2... Gunhildr's hair started with Abyssal Blue.... Svien: Thanks for looking, and Comments and Critiques welcome!
  4. So here's the figure I was talking about in another post, where I was lamenting about sealants and how they sometimes rubbed off details of my photos. I tried a new method though, and I think I've hopefully solved the problem. Here is the Ral Partha Female Barbarian with Short Sword, which was sculpted by the great Jim Johnson, and which was inspired from a Larry Elmore painting called Warband. Back then in the day, Partha did an entire box of figures dedicated to the painting. This is one of them, even though I didn't follow the painting's color scheme. I took a few pictures of her from a few different angles because she's not so flat and I think it helps appreciate the figure. Anyhoos, enjoy!
  5. So, I have flocking, sealing, and glossing left to do, but it looks like I've made a dent in all my end of the year Kickstarter arrivals, expected or not: This includes: Frostgrave: Forgotten Pacts, Oathsworn: Heroines in Sensible Shoes, RPE: Dwarf Veterans, Midlam: Wizard Apprentices, TAG: Halflings, and some other odds and ends I've just opened a package from Midlam of Halfling Wizards and Apprentices, so I better wrap these up soon...I think there's also some more Halflings and Chaos Dwarves due soon from Ganesha Games. I may have a problem...

    77047, Goldar Male Barbarian

Here is a barbarian I did for my frostgrave warband. Total badass who seem to be asking 'who's next?'. Feedback welcome.

Some old school Ral Partha figures

So here are four I just finished yesterday and got photographed this morning. I tried to get them photographed yesterday afternoon, but it was way too cloudy to get any good light. Anyhow, here are four figures, a Lord of the Household, Max Mentalus the wizard, Frea Koolblade, and a Larry Elmore chick from one of Partha's Elmore boxes. Have a look and I hope you enjoy. I keep seeing little things that bother me in each one, but oh well, as a buddy of mine tells me, you're never satisfied with your own work when it's done.

    The Lioness

I thought this was a cool figure and picked it up in one of the DGS kickstarters. She's got some fiddly spots but was generally a joy to paint.
  9. Hello fellow Forumites! I always enjoy coming back from ReaperCon, as my creative battery has been recharged and I'm ready to paint again! I'm currently working on a special project for someone who plays fierce female barbarian brawlers in her Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. I'm even painting it in her image, complete with upper leg tattoos. Reaper's "Viking Girl" sculpted by Bobby Jackson was the perfect choice for this! I'm still not convinced I can pull off this freehand tattoos, but I try something new in every project and I can always paint over it in skin tone if it becomes too overwhelming. I'm using Reaper's Highland Moss & Pale Lichen for the cloak. After taking Rhonda Bender's "Level Up" class at ReaperCon, I've decided to experiment with more interesting shadow colors in my minis. In the past, I would have chosen a dark olive green for the shadows of the cloak, however, this time I've mixed the mid tone Highland Moss with a touch of Nightshade Purple for the darkest folds and recesses of her cloak. After that, I started to layer in more of the midtone color mixed with Pale Lichen (~50//50 mix). I blend as I go and make my way up to Pale Lichen on the highlights of the folds. While I may go up an additional level of highlight, mixing in some Pure White with Pale Lichen, I'll see how much contrast I have on other sections of the mini once she's almost done. Either way, the back of the cloak could use some additional smooth blending, so I'll be sure to revisit that at a later time. Here's what I've painted so far, each step follows each set of images starting from top to bottom. Step 1: Basecoats & shadows for cloak, hair and gems Step 2: Cloak highlights. Repeat steps 1 & 2 on front loincloth-cloak thingy. Blend, blend, blend... Step 3: Hair highlights (more to come), fur, gems, jewelry & starting on the sword Next up is finishing her sword, then boots, gloves and shield. And then maybe I'll consider giving her some dirt on the bottom of her cloak as a final touch (if I can bring myself to smear pigment over something I've painstakingly blended lol) However, I'm having a hard time deciding where to place her eyes since her hair covers a portion of each eyeball, which makes it especially tricky. I'll need to make sure to leave enough white sclera in each eye to make the direction clear. I'm leaning toward painting her looking left, toward her sword, like she's threatening someone or pointing at something on the ground. What do you think?

    Nanok the Barbarian, Runebound

Hello all.. After a long interval (during which we moved house) I am back to present some minis.. The first is Nanok the Barbarian (from Runebound 3rd Edition expansion set, The Mountains Rise, I had painted the original 3rd Ed. figures some time ago (here)). And now that I got my hands on two of the long expected expansions I finally got them (one more is coming up soon) painted. As always, thanks for looking and C&C is welcomed and craved for.

Conan the Barbarian (from the BG Conan)

It was a no brainer that I had to paint Conan first.

    Bones highland heroine 77389

Hey all, Wanted to take a break from painting big stompy robots (CAVs) and get back into something with curves. Someone in my pathfinder group just made a new character, a female slayer... So I used that as motivation to paint up this awesome sculpt. I looked around and got heavy inspiration from these two posts by Pingo and Evilcoatrack: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/61985-scáthach-scotswoman-warrior-77389-highland-heroine/ http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69147-77389-highland-heroine-wip/ I decided to try a few new things with this mini, including thinning using matte medium, and a tartan pattern. Tartan is really hard to make look good... If anyone had any tips, I am all ears. I just finished the hair and am really happy with how it came out, and this is probably the best face I have ever done as well (with eyes, no less!). In fact, the irises went on a bit thick, so there is a little dollop that creates a shadow under strong light to mimic a pupil ... Kind of like the opposite of what Roman sculptures do. A fortunate accident. Anyway, C and C appreciated. I reckon I'll have her done by the end of the week. I'll be trying nmm on the sword and shields. Pingo and Evilcoatrack, thanks for the inspiration!!!
  13. This is the continuation of a show off linked here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/71368-sculpted-barbarian-warband/ This barbarian crew is finally getting some paint thrown at them. They have come a long way on their paint journey, but still have some distance before we hit that finish line. I tried to bring in a lot of varieties of browns to create the hide/fur look while also bringing in some subtle extra bits of color. Extra input into color ideas would absolutely be welcome. I have been trying to use a good amount of dry brushing and working on getting those darker undertones with highlights of lighter colors to create the illusion of depth and shadow. It's definitely still new to me, and I'm really inconsistent in terms of when it goes well as opposed to burying my darker tone with the lighter one, but that's part of the process. First we have our wizard and his apprentice, followed by our big fighters, then the thief and treasure hunter types, and finally, our archers and rangers. Anyway, comments, critiques, or compliments are always welcome :=)
  14. After some final sealer, Ajaxxus 5.0, Tiefling Barbarian, is ready to hit the dungeons! I'm not sure why he wound up so shiny in these photos, he's not glossy in person. Hanging out with Sir Forscale to show his reduced stature from earlier versions: I have a WiP thread of the conversion process here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/71285-lidless-eye-wip-ajaxxus-skiotho-tiefling-barbarian-conversion/?p=1456616 Hopefully I'll get to play in a game rather than run one soon and be able to use him again!
  15. This is entitled "Hardened Warrior" he is the Barbarian bust by Fantastic Miniatures. I'm bringing him to ReaperCon! C&C are welcomed and appreciated!

    The Barbarian

Unsurprisingly, another Games Workshop mini. This time it's the mighty Barbarian Hero Class Character from their Silver Tower board game. Had a lot of fun painting this guy up, it certainly made a change from all the heavily armoured dudes I've been working on lately, and I think the finished mini is one of my best to date. Also got a chance to try out some of my new grass tufts, I'm in love with the Sandy Tuft so expect to see those little suckers on everything. As always, and comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  17. Picked this up on E-Bay because she fits an NPC in my game. Photography is not one of my strong points. I did her base with static grass and a skull on the ground in front of her (not in the pic). I thought the skin came out nice.

    Draco the Barbarian - "Birthright"

I present to everyone my first 54mm figure... DRACO THE BARBARIAN!! This was a heck of a lot more fun than I thought it would be and easier to paint than I assumed. The Figure is Draco The Barbarian from Ares Mythologic. He strode from the ruins having pillaged the ancient treasures and surveying the land before him for yet more plunder... Draco knew the time of high adventure was at hand and he couldn't wait to drive his enemies before him and hear the lamentation of their women! Thanks for looking and please leave any C&C that you'd like EDIT: NEW PICS!!! These are the new pics with the tweaks done to it for more grass, ivy, flowers, plinth and name plaque. Thanks to everyone for looking and for the C&C!!
  19. Figured I'd go ahead and get started on this for my own and work on him this week while I get ready to do a Commission piece next week. This is the recent Barbarian Bust that I received from Fantastic Miniatures yesterday. I couldn't wait to get started and he's been a lot of fun thus far!
  20. Many moons ago, when the first official preview for D&D 5E were coming out, a friend and I were discussing that the Paladin preview had a Half-Orc as the example art, and it would be interesting to see more atypical race/class combos in the books. He had suggested a Tiefling Barbarian, and lo and behold, not but five minutes later, WotC previewed the Barbarian and it was...a generic Viking style Human. Later that day, during downtime at work, I thought I'd make it up to both of us and sketch out a concept for a Tiefling Barbarian. I kept the 4E & 5E pact-style Tieflings, and took a bit of influence from the design of Warcraft's Draenei, (a race of dimension travelers, who fled from their brethren who signed on with demons). After all, my main character in the game for almost a decade was a Draenei Warrior! Here's the initial sketch:
  21. I have located my camera! But, no lightbox, so the lighting is fairly harsh. Anyway, after packing up for the move, moving, unpacking, and then kinda sorta finding a place to paint I decided to get back into the swing of things with a quick tabletop mini. I was wanting to take another shot at the bronze skin triad, but I'm about out of minis that show a lot of skin. Fortunately I still had one half naked barbarian left from the kickstarter. Here are a couple I can post And here are a couple you'll need to follow the links. I have to say, this is the worst I've done on a face in quite a while but I just wasn't interested in smoothing things out and redoing the eyes. My copy had a "Bones nose" but I assume in metal there is more definition. 1 2

    Sonja's Sisters

I picked up 2608: Tyden at a paint-n-take, this is what my painting looks like when I don't have glasses: So I repainted her. I also found 2773 Tana in my box of figures, and thought this would be a good companion piece. Front view NSFW
  23. I recently found some small pics of an old paintjob. Grenadier Wooly Rhino with Barbarian Riders. I think I did this somewhere in the 90's Anyway..here is to old times..

    Mighty Grum, Red Box Games

Mighty Grum from Red Box Games. A really cool mini I finished while working through my huge backlog of RBG minis. He's quite small so I didn't bother (or rather I can't do it) with the eyes. I'm happy with how the skin and his fur coat (although it seems abit dull in the photo) worked out.

    Tyden, RM-02608

Yes - It IS a Reaper Mini ! and Not anthropomorphic. With all the events happening in the last several weeks, I barely was able to get much painting in. CC Numbers stolen, Bank being bought out and account changes, then finishing off the language course all threw me for a loop. Concentration became quite difficult. I am happy to report that the mini has finally been painted to my satisfaction. Thanks to our local Barbarian for tracking down one of his relatives for me. Tyden., Barbarian. She is really small, and I had a lot of fun painting her. As always your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Blonde hair, bronze "shield"... I almost painted her blue, not much to that female armor ! Here are a couple of photos.
