I was working on this Behir miniature since April 21st. Quite some time, but with a toddler in the house and other hobbies I only managed a few hours every other day. The project started simple enough, but I had some issue to overcome and learned a few new techniques: UV resin as water effect, making tall grass out of straw, painting a lizard eye, painting fairly vibrant red and making a beech tree. If you are interested in the full story there is a WIP thread, too. All in all I am pleased with the outcome, but still need to improve vibrancy and contrast further. The blends on the scales could be smoother, too. C&C very welcome.

Dear all, I decided to tackle a large miniature this time : the Bones Behir. However, I won't stick to the DnD colour scheme and mix it up a bit. I thought of a jade green with red back tail. Assembly was difficult. Plenty of hard to remove mold lines (micro chisel to the rescue), ill fitting parts and lack of scale detail at joints made this a challenge. Don't get me wrong. It is a beautiful sculpt, much better than other Behir sculpts I saw online. That said this miniature would benefit from the slightly less bendy grey plastic. So far I cleaned it, resculpted scales and basecoated it with brown liner and a drybrush of Vallejo Surface Primer. I will work with glazes this time on the preshaded surface. New for me and may save some time what concerns establishing contrast. I also finally tidied up my desk, so tonight I will apply the base colours. I will add a tree to the base with one or two of its many arms resting on it.

I painted this guy up, despite having eyes on Gale Force 9's Behir for my personal use. Decided to go ahead and liquidate it in a certain auction site, but so far, no takers. Ah, well. It's still a nice looking mini, so it doesn't hurt to have one around until I manage to finish painting the GF9 Behir... Comments, recommendations, and suggestions are appreciated.

Painted this up a couple of days ago, took maybe 3 hours. This is the only decent photo I got but overall I'm very happy with how it came out.

I hadn't even realized when I began on these three that they were all from the "Castle Stoneskull" expansion from Bones III. It was a great set for adding to the random encounters for an RPG. These guys may represent some of the high-level dangers that one could encounter while dungeoneering in Castle Stoneskull! The Behir. I've been wanting one since a buddy pulled one from the first Huge set of D&D prepaints. They even show up in Pathfinder's "Reign of Winter" and D&D 5E's "Storm King's Thunder", if only I had had this guy in time for those campaigns! Brain-in-a-Jar. While I was hoping this would be a human brain, it's still a really cool design. I wonder why the legs are traditional bendy bones instead of the hard plastic that makes up the rest of the mini (minus the squishy brain), though. The mighty Minotaur! Bones has a lot of representations for Minotaurs now, almost as many as Orcs or Goblins. There's the one from pre-Kickstarter, 2 adventurers in Bones II, and the whole set of Minitaurs coming in Bones IV! Plus all the Beastmen if you want to count them, I've seen them used as medium Minotaur PCs enough times. This guy is my favorite, though. Must be the Gladiator armor.

Thanks for taking a look! Any advice/comments/criticism is welcome! Hi all, I've recently started painting some of my minis (finally) and also got some friends to help. Below I'll show everything thats been done so far, before likely making a showoff thread for the done done ones (some are aaalmost there, need a few more touches. My Work: (2nd mini ever): 77503 Temple Dragon : - I wanted to do some complimentary color on him but couldn't quite decide where. First thought was underbelly and underside of wings, but glued together the underbelly is incredibly hard to paint. I was also considering the larger left and right spines down the middle and/or maybe just the bones/claws that extend from the wings(bone color?) He seems to photograph better than he looks in standard light, hes a bit dark, so without lighting for taking a picture distinguishing much on him is not all that easy. 77506 Kobolds (6): (3rd mini ever) I am trying to somewhat emulate the Kobolds painted on the Bones 4 page ( https://www.reapermini.com/bones4 ) Just starting on them, got a darker skin tone and tried dry brushing over with a lighter, but its hard to keep it localized on such a tiny mini. Painting these seems like it's going to get more frustrating than it is rewarding.. :/ Trying to do linen white for the cloth with maybe a sepia wash over it, then steel for the armor with a black wash Friend 1's WIPs: (He's painted minis before) 77492 Behir: I think he's planning on touching up the mouth area 77494 Dire Bear: I think he wants to differentiate the fur a little more, it's a bit too uniform 77496 Eilluvasheth, Succubus Queen - Wings look great - I think he's not sure how exactly to translate the color scheme/design to the body Friend 2's (new to painting, first minis): Adventurescapes Barrels and Chest: 77382: Vernone, Ivy Crown Knight (Second Mini) 77498 Werearmadillo (3rd mini) Friend 3: (has painted some in past) 80046: Gray Alien Warriors 77493 Brain In a Jar : Needs to paint the bottom clear plastic piece the same metal as the rest of it Thanks for taking a look! Any advice/comments/criticism is welcome! Ignore these -- Too many attachments, can't seem to figure out which ones to delete

The first miniature I have painted after opening Bones 3 box that arrived one week ago. Also, my first reaper miniature I would like to share. I must admit that I made a very poor job on the mould lines though and the paint job isn't as neat as I would like to... More pictures: http://zgielk.blogspot.com/2017/08/na-bezrybiu-i-smok-ryba.html

So this one is not my best work. It was very frustrating to paint. I recommend painting before assembly but that will only help marginally. Still debating on whether to put it on a base or not.. I likely wont...

So I went a head and started in on this guy. Just kind of winging it...He was very annoying to assemble. The middle legs would not stay glued...so I pinned them. This is just base coats and an outline of where things will be.

Hey all! Finished up the Behir, subject to fate, and wanted to show him off! (WIP here) And some close ups of his face: C&C Welcome! George Edited because I am taking some new pics with a real camera, under some good lighting... Close ups Much easier to see the real colors with the Ottlights and a good camera! George
