  1. Hi Everyone! I'm wondering if one can achieve a reasonable blonde from the Chestnut Gold through Buckskin Pale triad. This is the most yellow/brown paint I have and from what I was able to discern from Google...blonde needs an undertone of brown...so yeah...will this work?
  2. Meet Bonnie Futuristic Hero from Reaper's Chronoscope line. Or as I call her, Bonnie babe of the Secret Swedish Beach Patrol. Enjoy.. For those interested in my WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62242-50210-bonnie-futuristic-heroine-by-xherman1964
  3. I spotted this set and got it originally for the woman in the slinky circa. 1930 gown, not yet realizing that it had two other great figures as well. RAFM sells three-packs of adventurers for "Call of Cthulhu" showing a progression: first the person in his or her civilian life, then out on the hunt for otherworldly horrors, then gone mad with the horror. They are kind of mixed in quality, but have a certain charm. I did not paint these as a progression of one character, but as three separate women: A society dame, a sporty modern young woman from the Indian Raj, and a madwoman out on the moors -- or tidal flats of New England, anyway. There are lots of fun details with these three. I tried to paint the madwoman's slip as transparent. It's eau-de-nil, an extremely fashionable color in the 1920s. Her feet and arms are supposed to look a little grubby. I added gloves to the society lady since no lady would be out barehanded at the time (her furs really should be a wrap around the back, not be two separate pieces; I think the artist did not have a visual reference for her back). And the sportswoman's boot is resting on a block carved with the most wonderful tentacled thing, although I did not paint it as clearly as I would like. The bases of the society woman and the madwoman were a little small for stability, so I glued them to pennies. I didn't do anything fancy with the society woman's base, but I added painted foliage and rocks to the madwoman's. The madwoman's base can be seen from above in this post: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49565-i-hate-to-base-so-i-painted-them-instead/
  4. Inspired by the January Bones Little People Beauty Pageant, I pulled out some of my metal hobbits and painted them up as well. This is Elia Shadowfeet, Female Halfling Thief. I discovered I also had an earlier incarnation of Elia, much more old-school in style but sculpted, as this one was, by Sandra Garrity. I do like the more modern approach in this figure. She's pretty tall for a halfling, reasonably armored, and packed for a serious expedition. Looking at some of the other paint jobs, like Derek Schubert's stunning version in Reaper's online store, I am struck by how soft mine look. The colors kind of melt into each other and are sometimes ambiguous as to what they are and where they go. This is also almost my first attempt in 20 years to paint a blonde mini (this was the first, and only by a few hours). I do try to make use of the broccoli bases. This one maybe looks a little more tarry than I intended.
  5. This is one of several old Ral Partha (now Iron Wind Metals) Shadowrun sculpts I've painted recently. She is one of three cybertroll figures in the set 20-563, "Wolfram's Gang". I deliberately painted her up in some of the colors of 'eighties fashions. I painted other cyber-trolls at the same time: Reaper's 50287: Caine, Cyber-Troll, Ral Partha's Lord Torgo, another member of "Wolfram's Gang" who I painted up all tattooed, an Oni bouncer, a cyber-troll in reflective armor, and an ork woman street samurai. The WIP thread for all of them and several more is here.
  6. I'm planning on painting Ulf Gormundr soon, and I want to get him as close as i can to the painted example on this website. So maybe someone can help me out with some of my questions. To be blunt: How did they do that blue chainmail? How did they do that NMM Gold? How did they get the blonde hair to look so real? On the subject of blonde hair, I have the reaper 3 tier Blonde paints. It works well, but it doesn't come out looking as good as Ulf's hair. While i'm on the subject of blonde hair, I'm also planning on painting Seoni, as she is on this site, and her blonde hair looks post worthy as well. Appreciate any help. Sorry so many questions.
  7. This is one of the female characters in my RPG adventure group (The Seekers). She is a female spell caster type of character. This is a playing piece (all pieces in this group have a high gloss finish to cut down wear from handling).
  8. This is a male player character from my adventure group (The Seekers)...He is a Norse warrior. This is a game playing piece.
