We needed more dragons for our dnd campaign, so we painted some cheap dragon toys from the dollar store! 😄 I painted the red and the green one and my sister painted the blue one. Which one do you like best? Thanks for looking!

I stole some spell effects from a nolzurs beholder who didn’t need this one. Pretty proud of this guy!

In the Storm King's Thunder campaign I'm playing in we've had 2 encounters with an ancient blue dragon named Iymrith. I don't have a painted blue dragon... And my very pregnant DM isn't going to get one bought and painted before we need her, so... Digging through my minis, I figured Narthrax was as close as I've got. It was going to be blue anyway (or dessert sands brown) so that was my top choice. I also thought about the wizkids dragons, but the FLGS only had the green, and I wasn't all that impressed with the sculpt. I'd rather drop $30 on another Narthrax if I'm gonna paint a brown one in the future. Tonight I pulled her out, scrubbed her down, and started working on her base. She could probably for on a smaller base, but with her wingspan, and the fact that she's an ancient dragon, I figure she deserves it. and the cork will give her some extra height. It helps her look even bigger as compared to Blightfang! More to come!

Started painted minis over the course of the last year for DnD Rise of Tiamat. Not an artist but I’ve enjoyed it.... Blightfang (green) was first, then Cinder (red), and last was Narthrax (blue).

I painted this as a gift for a friend of mine who got me into DND. He ran Rise of Tiamat for over two years, and that was my introduction to DND and I’ve been hooked ever since. It just seemed like an appropriate gift for all the work he put in!

The latest addition to Mini-spawns family of blue dragons. "Papa" Inspiration for the scales came from a trip to the zoo. looking closely at lizards I noticed that non had uniform scales, allhad strangely light, dark or off-colors scattered across the hide. The rocky base is removable, with the original sturdy bones base left unmodified so that it can stand up to a 3 year old. It also has many layers of dull-coat. WIP

I'm playing Hoard of the Dragon Queen, and apparently we need a dragon. So I'm painting the Shadow Dragon that's been in my "Box of 20" unpainted minis as a blue dragon. Last night I boiled, cleaned and glued the wings (because why not? Oh, ok... THAT's why not) and slopped on blue liner/medium. I will probably slop on some more liner to actually line. Colors I'm planning on using. -Interference Blue (Yes, this dragon has been Pingo'd). Skin:Dragon Blue (!), Frost Blue, Blue Flame, Ghost White, Magic Blue (VGC), Denim Blue Plates/Bone: Handle Wood (SW), Bone White (VGC), Pearl White, Creamy Ivory. That may be more than I actually use, though. No mold line prep.

Hi folks, I finished another dragon last week. I have been waiting for the Pathfinder Dragon to be available as a Bones miniature for quite some time, because I needed a nice blue dragon miniature. Yes, like many others in this forum playing D&D, I think a dragon with a single horn on its nose must of course be a blue one. And as such, I gave him a desert base. I'm not too proud of how it turned out. I guess it's okay for tabletop. I tried different options with his wings, but in the end the color differences are too subtle. Also, I way too lazy to paint the scales individually, so the contrast/shading could be better, especially on the arms. But again, it was suitable enough to scare my players at Xonthal's Tower :) C&C welcome!

This Ral Partha blue dragon was given to me wtih a broken left wing. Until recently, I did not have enough practice with pining to try and place a pin in the thin metal of the wing. While I like how this dragon has turned out, I would like to hear any suggestions for improvement.

So, I got this dragon a while back: The only thing I know about it is that it doesn't exist. Even my considerable Google-Fu couldn't turn it up anywhere. I picked it up on Noble Knight Games under the Enigma Miniatures header, and it was produced in the early 90s. I have recently contacted the current Enigma Miniatures to see if they are the same company that produced this mini. She's packaged as a Red Dragon, but with those ears and that nose horn, she more closely resembles a 1e/2e Blue Dragon; so that's where I'm going with her. I've got a bit more filling to do on her, the liquid greenstuff seems to have shrunk a bit since I did my initial gap filling. That's a 120mm base with a Reaper scenic resin Treasure Hoard vignette base and one of the Treasure Packs attached. Since she's a Blue, the sand (and non-treasure parts of the resin base) will be painted as, well, sand. I'm probably going to work on that part first, since the lgs will need curing time.

More stuff I've painted lately.

A few days ago, I got to clean up and glue up my copy of Cinder. Very few mold lines that were easily taken care of with my Exacto knife (side note: I have been very happy with the quality of Bones 2 minis so far). I used a little Tamiya Putty White to fill the gaps, and since then, I have based him with a dark blue grey. Plan is to go with a fairly classic Blue scheme for the colors.

Here is my first 2015 Resolution Challenge Mini. First mini for the month is the Oathsworn Dragon.

This is my first creature of this size, so I didn’t put tons of effort into making him look amazing. I’m glad I chose the “tabletop†route, since he still took quite a bit of work. I picked blue for… reasons. The main one is that I already have a D&D prepaint of a huge white dragon. I used the airbrush pretty extensively for the blue, including highlighting and shading. The belly, claws and face details were the only things brushed on. Deathsleet has a known problem with weak legs, so I pinned the end of his tail down. I took Aaron Lovejoy’s Airbrush 101 class at ReaperCon, and he suggested using a “pop†color to keep the miniature from getting too boring – I chose a dark red which you can see on his wings and underneath some of his scales. He was primed with RMS Blue Liner, then Badger Opaque Blue (this was too dark, and was covered with the next layer so there might not be any visible) then given a fairly solid RMS HD Dragon Blue coat (but purposely avoiding the deeper shadows), then a PP Glacier Blue highlight, with his head given extra layers of highlight to draw attention. The chest scales are a thin coat of RMS Burnt Orange. The claws and teeth are RMS HD Tusk Ivory, while the tongue is my favorite crazy color: VGC Warlord Purple. The base is just coarse pumice paste mixed with VMC Ochre Brown.

Did I say red? I'm pretty sure the box said "blue"... It's mostly done except for a couple of minor fixes and a possible breath weapon. Other photos here.

Ok, I know the photos are iffy, but I have to get it off to its new home. I painted this for a charity auction for my friend's handbell group. The base is a combination of sculpted elements and hirst arts columns. I followed the big ol pile of treasure tutorial in the craft section as well.
