Finally finished my copy of Bombshell Miniatures Sister Sergeant Maelee, aka "Heresy" Maelee, their Con exclusive figure from last year. Most time I think I've ever spent on a 28mm figure. Pretty happy with how she turned out. Pigments on the feet look heavier in the pictures than they do in real life.

This Bombshell Miniatures' 75mm resin Tara purchased at last year's ReaperCon. She's actually a skosh over 80mm. She's also listed as 1/24th scale, which puts her a tad over six feet. The kit is four pieces - body/legs/upper arms/head, lower arms incorporating a head and sword, and a small rocky base. The body is well toned with noticeable muscle definition. My example had a large resin blob hanging down betwixt her legs (the one time I don't check a figure for issues/parts). Anywho, Dremel to the rescue. I routed out the blob and reshaped her thighs. Since her skirt is very short, I painted in a pair of expensive solid black tactical La Perla boyshorts. Nuthin' but the best... The rest is of the casting was fine although the sword scaled out to over 40 inches and was too thick. I took some of the length off and thinned it down. I also added a scabbard, since none was included. An odd omission... I also added a secondary weapon in the form of a boot knife. The skin tones are the new Bones colors and, since she has a barbarian look about her, I imparted a somewhat dirty and sweaty look to her - no smooth boudoir look transitions here. I also toned down the highlights in her hair - barbarian vs shampoo commercial. I did add a bit of makeup to her face (contradictory, I know). All other paints are Reaper's MSPs. The base was extended with Aves Apoxie Sculpt, stippled with an old oil painting brush with kitty litter rocks and pebbles. I added pointed ears to the severed head, and painted it using the Dark Elf Skin triad. Qs and Cs welcomed. Glen

Well my sister loves Pandas and was mad I wouldn't give her the one I entered at Reapercon. So I painted a second one up for her birthday in purple, her favorite color.

Reapercon Entry - Bombshell Miniatures Momo-chan Panda
Argentee posted a topic in Show Off: Painting
This was my Painter's entry from Reapercon this year (I got a bronze! Yay! And a silver manufacturer's award! YAY!). Unfortunately, the camera was slightly off level when they took the picture at reapercon, so I straightened it up. I named her Chuntao which means 'spring peach'. My sister loves Pandas, but I refuse to give her this one, so I'm currently painting up one for her birthday.- 5 replies

Well I finally made it to Reapercon. What a blast! I met so many amazing people. I met some fantastic artists, some of whom were kind enough to give me some advice on my entries in the painting contest and help me take things to the next level. In particular, Aaron Lovejoy, David Diamondstone and Brien Piersol gave me specific feedback and advice on this piece that I was able to implement before I entered it. My idea for this figure was that she is standing at the edge of a spaceport on an alien planet with the last light of a setting star reaching her through the shadows of a city skyline. Sort of like the cover of a sci-fi magazine from the 60's. I'm really happy with the way the lighting worked out, especially the shadows and the reflections. I am also really happy with the way her face turned out. I tried to make her expression sort of wistful and tired, as though "Life on Vega" was not turning out to be everything she had hoped for.

I sort of fell off the WIP thread because life made this take longer than I had originally intended. The minis are by Bombshell, and I have to say that they were a pleasure to paint. I will be picking up a few more at ReaperCon, for sure. The scenery is by Secret Weapon, Shadow's Edge, and Woodland Scenics. The base is from a cheap 3 pack from Michael's. All paint is from Reaper. I'll probably end up staining or painting the base, but I haven't yet decided which way to go with it. It feels really good to finish something for the MSPOpen. In hindsight, I probably should've started with something smaller, and worked my way up to this, but meh. I'm pretty proud of this.

Taking a break from army painting to finish up Victoriana. Next step is to finish up the NMM on her various brass tools. Then painting the lenses on her hat. After that, its time to do a freehand pattern on the carpet bag and plaid on her suit.

Speed painted to send off to a Niece who really like rabbits. Hopefully she likes these! Doom Bunny from Bombshell Miniatures: and a Vorpal Bunny. I've had these guys for a very long time. Made of resin. Came in a bag with about a dozen or more in it. Long forgotten who manufactured them: Sorry for the pics! Finished the wash on the Doom Bunnies Axe and then snapped a few quick pics before packing them up to go in the mail.

This fun little guy is from Bombshell's Kritterkin line and is the first one of them that I have painted. I started him at our paint group last Saturday and finished him up over last few days. I wanted to go for more of a pirate type look than naval officer so I decided to play around with textured leather. It was a challenge keeping all the brown from not looking the same but I am happy with how he turned out.

Bombshell Miniatures 10050 Celeste the Sorceress, sculpted by Kev White. I wanted a simple mini with few accessories to paint up as a quick little project, so I picked Celeste for her clean lines. As a bonus I used some of the Breastcancer Awareness Pink I have multiple bottles of. Spent maybe 3 hours on her.

Hello again, everyone! As some of you are already aware of from watching my WIP page, I really want to enter a Bombshell Miniatures piece into this year's ReaperCon painting contest (since Bombshell Miniatures is offering a unique prize for that). Therefore, because of how much I really love Solomon Kane, I couldn't help but be drawn to Mira the Inquisitor! I also had some awesome Reaper skeletons sitting around that needed a good home, and well... you can see for yourself where things ended up! I sure hope you like her! Thanks a bunch for looking!!!

With my last project finished (though I still need to post a final showoff), I found myself flush with choices of models to paint. Which led me to that ages old question - do I paint something that's been lingering on my painting desk, something from the Shelf of Shame, or something new? I really wanted to paint something new, but decided to finish up Drak (yes, I know, this is not that model, he's in the show off thread) and then I decided to paint something new, but what? I settled on Celeste from Bombshell Miniatures, which was part of their second Kickstarter. Not too long after that, the beginning of September passed and it hit me that I could kill two farfenugens with one kumquat! Yes, I could get a head start on my Christmas gifts and holiday/Secret Sophie exchange models! I know of three people (who will remain nameless) that I wanted to paint models for and at least one more, depending on how much time I had left over, plus at least one Secret Sophie (no matter what). I have to say that Celeste was fairly easy to prepare as she's a single piece model and the mold lines weren't that bad. Additionally, I had a few goals for myself with her: (1) use two-brush wet blending and (2) try to paint her skin following the way one of my favorite painters paints hers (Shoshie Bauer). Hopefully the model won't end up a steaming pile of soggy clam shells. Here's the efforts from painting her skin (I blocked in the dress and hair so that the eye wouldn't focus on the white primer): I'm happy with the results. Her skin isn't perfect by any means, but its a lot better than my usual Caucasian skin tone. Next I decided to try the dress out. I was initially going to go with a different color scheme entirely, but I wasn't sure it would look good on her, so I kept the base color (P3 Trollblood base) I used on her dress and decided to make it more colorful, which would give me a chance to work on my two-brush blending (which I'm not very good at). I mixed (1:1) P3 trollblood base and P3 Murderous Magenta for the bottom third of her dress and P3 Arcane Blue for the top third, two brush blending (or attempting to) the transition from one color to another. I then made a lot of mistakes with the shading and finally settled on what you can see below. So her mid-tones and shading on her dress are more or less done (depending on what advice you fine folks have here). I need to go in and work in the highlighing next (hopefully tomorrow). Please let me know what advice you have (especially those of you who use two-brush blending **coughGhool especiallycough**). I'm *really* sorry for the last two blurry pictures! I'll try to get some better ones tomorrow! Thank you in advance for your advice!

Just finished this one last night, I painted her up for Thrym to use as a main NPC in his game as Ravana. I did some glowing and OSL effects as well as a bit of a mod with the belt where I added a skull in on top of what was the snowflake on her belt. Sally is my first finished project from my original Bombshell Miniatures. Patrick Keith is one of my absolute favorite sculptors working today, and Sally was a great model to work on. I really like how the NMM purple turned out and this forum's suggestion of orange for the trim turned out really, really well. This is 10052 - Glacia the Winter Witch from Bombshell Miniatures. I'm doing this figure not as a winter witch, but rather as an Islander pirate shapeshifter sorceress for a friend as a thank you for doing me a huge personal favor. First off I've added a skull to her belt instead of the snowflake that was there previously. Then I added some green stuff to fill out the belt itself and give it more bulk as well as fill the gaps between the skull and the metal. The base is the uneven planks happy seppuku stamp in sculpey. Inspiration picture- Going to try to get this done over the next few days.

After pledging for both campaigns, I have finally gotten my first Bombshell mini (sculpted by Patrick Keith) to the painting table. I really like the combo of purple and green. It is also giving me a chance to practice another color of NMM. I am thinking I will use blue to pic out the seam details between the purple plates and green cloth. Still undecided about doing the jet pack in NMM purple or a more traditional NMM steel or similar.

DAMNED DESOLATION She stood before the undead, calm as a frozen winter lake... the zombies and skeleton advanced, their hungry eyes boring into her own, yet she stood still, her Staff of the Twin Suns raised and a prayer upon her lips... The lead zombie took one more step upon the magical rune and suddenly it and its companions were blown back, the earth erupted and the small canal of sewage rose in response to the divine power that was unleashed by Velicia Torynn, cleric. She shoved them all back against the wall to end their undeath once and for all... She couldn't stop now, she had others to help and other Damned to Desolate... -------------------------------------------- Here we go, I loved the cleric figure so much that I decided to go ahead and build a diorama around her as the star of it. The premise came into my head that she uses Divine Magical Runes of protection and destruction to desolate the undead. I worked on her and found the sculpt so interesting that I'm going to build a small vignette around her, which will stay in my WIP for this figure. This is one of the babes I got in the first KS. She has a gothic lolita feel to her so I went with classic pink and black. I did minor modifications, she had buckles all up the sides of her leggings, and they were uneven on each side so I filed them off and it gives her a little cleaner look.

This month has been really busy, but I managed to at least get a couple more Mekkus done. These ones have a pair of Pulsar Rifles. And here is my Mekkus squad now. Still 3 more to paint from what came in the KS.

Decided to start on my Counterblast! figs in the new year, and I know there are some others on the forums here that were in on that kickstarter, so figured I'd start and open topic. I went in for the Ultonium level and got one of each starter set. That's a good sized pile o' figs.... I'm planning to start with the Mekkus. Let's open those bags and take a look. Ummmm, hmmm. I need to go sort out what belongs with what I think....
