  1. @LeonR344 @LittleBluberry Had asked about doing weapon swaps with the new bones weapon packs. So I thought I've never really done one before either but I thought I'd offer up my bones for science in a how to / WIP. I've never done a WIP before so bear with me,and here we go.

    Bones 3 blackstar corsair

I just realized, I had posted in randomness that this guy was the first bones 3 mini I painted, but I forgot to post pictures. So here is a little blue power armor.
  3. My first Bones 3 paint job is also one of the ones I was most anticipating. It's not quite done, since I have to touch up some of the little stones on the ground, but I'm basically calling it done. I've read that you shouldn't overdo the static grass, but I didn't really know what else to put in it and I didn't want to leave too much bare "broccoli base." Overall, I'm not too unhappy with how it turned out, given my level of ability. Oh, on this note... I've got some "flower stuff" which is okay, but I don't love it. It does have lots of nice little yellow bits. You can see these clumped up in the bottom picture. I'm wondering if people can recommend a good "spray glue" or something to that effect, so that I can just spray a light coating of clue in some places, and then sprinkle the yellow bits. I'm looking for a more spread out "wildflowers" effect, since I think the clumps are too much.

    Goremaw - Purple Worm

I decided to be traditional and go for a purple worm. Since I will be needing one for a future game and lets face it. The DDM one is just meh. Here is some comparison shots of Goremaw and the theme I'm going for. I decided to prime him with Pokorny Paints: Black. Now this paint is not the best option for priming I still believe liner goes on much smoother. However, for big guys like this its not so bad. You may notice a few spots that didn't get coverage. That seem to be common with this paint so you have to watch out for those if you decide to use this stuff. I will go hunting for said spots with a smaller brush as I want to ensure completely coverage.

Gourls Paints a Bones 3 ogre

Got some paint on one of my Bones 3 minis. This is one of the ogre trio. Just phone pics, so I apologize if they look gods-awful. He looks wet because he has a layer of gloss sealer on him. I leant out my matte sealer and I don't have it back yet. When I do, he'll get a coat of that to knock the sheen down. He's destined for the tabletop (as are all my minis really).
  6. I'm painting all the giants that came with Bones 3 starting with the 4 frost giants. I'm going to start off by assembly lining the skin and then go back to the queen, who I already have liner-ed, and go from there. Pics under spoiler for size.
  7. Tried to shoot for a first painted Bones 3 figure, but @Werkrobotwerk seems to have beat me to that (via the Randomness thread). Oh well! At least I can post up as maybe the first Bones 3 figure. Right? Anyway, spent about two hours on this tonight after I did the unboxing video of my Bones 3 box of goodness. Enjoy!
  8. Bane Of Humanity

    Bones 3 - Behir

So I went a head and started in on this guy. Just kind of winging it...He was very annoying to assemble. The middle legs would not stay glued...so I pinned them. This is just base coats and an outline of where things will be.
  9. I am in a Star Wars : Force and Destiny game, playing a Whiphid Jedi. briefly described - a Sasquatch with a lightsaber. with bones 3, I can do that. Just because we don't use minis at the table, that's no reason not to make one anyway. the first one is a color test, as I waited for the lightsaber to dry, try to remember what color blade my character has, and consider sculpting a belt for him. timing note: I got my order yesterday at 7pm, and started working this morning, so a one day paint on the brown one, not exactly speed paint cause its at least 3 hours . reference drawing: (it looked pretty dumb in the movie, and wisely stayed to the shadows of Jabba's palace.) there is a Jedi version in one of the cartoons.
  10. Ive decided to run a little test to see how well Pokorny Paints from Dwarven work on bones as primer. I decided not to cover the entire thing just so people can see the contrast. While is a bit thicker than the traditional brown liner you can see it keeps the detail nicely. I will finish the first coat then I will do a Agrax Earthshade wash. Now I wouldn't recommend this paint for the smaller miniatures..but larger ones it seems to work pretty good

    Bones Dwarves

12 dwarves that are works in progress. many from Bones 3 some are from previous KS. I bace coated in a orange cause well I had it open at the time. and I like the way flesh looks overtop a orange base coat. I'd say I'm about 1/2 way done on the lot. plan to mount on square 25mm bases advice and critisim welcomed. Kind of regreting not picking up the Dwarf King sub set from Bones 3
  12. So I currently DM a 5e D&D game. One of my favorite things to do is create my own magic items. The armory sets from Bones 3 seem to me to be perfect candidates to have accompanying RPG stats! To that end, I made up the following. Feel free to steal/tweak these if you like them! Ashen Zweihander Greatsword This magic greatsword adds a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls. Its hilt is fashioned to look like the skull of a ram. When drawn, flakes of ash fall from the blade. When you hit a creature with the ashen zweihander, you deal an extra 2d6 necrotic damage. If a creature hits you, you may use a reaction to cast hellish rebuke. This power recharges every day at dusk. If you kill a creature with the ashen zweihander, its body is reduced to ashes. The only means of bringing such a creature back to life is via either a true resurrection or a wish spell. Axe of Death Battleaxe This magic weapon is shaped to appear as if the wings of the Angel of Death form the axe head. It adds a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. Any creature you hit with the ace that isn't a construct, ooze, or an undead takes an additional 2d8 necrotic damage. In addition, if after you strike a creature it is reduced to 100 hit points or fewer, it must immediately make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or die. A creature that succeeds this saving throw takes 7d8 necrotic damage. Bonesplinter Reaver Greataxe The haft of this greataxe is fashioned from the bleached bone of a long-dead creature. This magic weapon grants you a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. It scores a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20. When you score a critical hit with the axe, the creature you hit must succeed a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or suffer a severed limb. Succeeding the saving throw results in no additional effect. Crown of the Dust King Wondrous Item This crown was the possession of the King of Dust. It has absorbed some of that being’s power. While wearing this crown, you gain some of the properties of undeath. You do not require food or drink, do not need to breathe, and are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition. You are able to command lesser undead by your sheer presence. As an action, you may attempt to assert your control over any ghouls, skeletons, or zombies within 30 feet of you that you can see. Make a Charisma check. The DC is equal to 10 + the creature’s challenge rating. If you succeed, the undead is under your direct control. You can issue commands as a bonus action on your turn. Any undead within 60 feet of you, whether under your control or not, has advantage on saving throws to resist the effects of being turned. Dust King’s Aegis Shield This magic shield once belonged to the King of Dust. The shield grants you resistance to radiant damage while you bear it. In addition you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons wielded by good-aligned creatures. Graveyard Shield Shield This shield is marked by the power of death. You can force a creature adjacent to you to fail a death saving throw. This power recharges at midnight. In addition, while the shield is in your possession you cannot suffocate as a result of being buried. Finally, when you kill a creature that is within 5 feet of you, you gain 10 temporary hit points. Hammer of Doom Maul The head of this magic weapon looks like it is fashioned from a rough slab of a tombstone. The fangs of some creature adorn one end. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. You may cast bane as an action. This power recharges at dawn. Reaping Greataxe Greataxe This greataxe is cold to the touch, like a bone left out in winter. This magic weapon grants you resistance to cold and necrotic damage. As a bonus action, you can cause sickly green energy to wreathe the head of the axe, changing all damage it deals to necrotic damage. Another bonus action changes the damage back.
  13. So I'm not sure if this goes here or somewhere else. I never picked up the original T'Raukzul, but I'm getting the new one from the Kickstarter. The preview images of the new resin master look great, but I'm unclear just how big he is. He looks gigantic (or, if you're a certain size category, gargantuan ). Are there dimensions on him?

    Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

Here is the official discussion thread for the Bones 3 Kickstarter. If I toggled all the settings right, it should auto-unlock approximately the same time as the KS Launch. (If not, I'll manually unlock when I can.) A little pre-housekeeping requests (as I am wishing and hoping): Please review the forum rules and play nice. Please make every effort to avoid sequential posting, it makes life so much more difficult for those of us who have to clean up after you. You can always go back and edit your posts to add the thought that comes to you after you hit that post button. Inserting large graphics or videos are tough for people on weaker connections, please try to limit those. You can always reply without quoting, or you can edit the quote down to less than all and keep your posts smaller.
