  1. I just finished this up yesterday. The color scheme was taken from one of my kids' picture books (How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?); there was a polacanthus in there that was just as spiky as this guy, so I thought the green and purple would look nice.
  2. Fresh from a middle finish on the Reaper Quarterly Paint Contest (ended March 20) hmm need a rear photo.
  3. The Stone Giant Champion (44083), Stone Giant Carver (44084), and Stone Giant Guard (44085) are among my favorite models from the Lost Valley expansion. Especially the champion. She's awesome. I just finished these this morning.
  4. Like many of you stuck at home right now, I have a lot more time to paint. I'm a little over halfway through the Lost Valley expansion but I've only recently taken photos. Here's the lovely carnotaurus in all of his chompy glory.
  5. Painted up this awesome fig as my first experience with the bones black material. I loved the detail, and it took the primer/paint really well. I didn't have any real plan with this one, so I just started with the bear pelt. I had never painted a polar bear before, so I went with that. After that was done, I thought blue would look neat with the white fur, and the rest just came together. It wasn't until I got finished that I realized he looked like a big angry Smurf! Still really happy with him though! Critiques and advice are always welcome, thank you!
  6. I got two Efreetis in my recent Reaper order. Out of the two one had far more gap lines than the other, so I opened the one that would take less effort to work on first since it's been awhile since I have properly tinkered with a mini. First thing's first, gap filling! This model had quite a lot of mold lines too, I dealt with most of them with an xacto knife and a file. The Bones Black material is brittle enough to handle a file if you're careful unlike the white Bones counterpart. While priming I noticed that part of one of her horns was missing, must have snapped off during shipping or during my work on her. Touched it back up with some more green stuff, just waiting for it to cure before I prime over it. In the mean time, there is nothing stopping me from popping into Procreate to play around with a colour scheme. I wanted to try something a but different than other painting examples I had seen. Still incorporating the red and gold, just in different ways.
  7. I decided to start this instead of ziba until I can figure out assembly. Lots of base coats. I might have time to line tonight and touch up. The arm is actually still unattached. I will probably glue after lining/touch ups.
  8. Presenting Ashlynn the Vampire. Originally a Dark Elf Priestess mini by Reaper, she lost an ear tip at some point during the manufacturing process, so I removed the other rendering her human, then the paint scheme went in a very vampirey direction. Not one of my best paint jobs, although I am rather pleased with her face and hair, but it was one of my fastest, it's very rare for me to finish a mini in a week. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  9. So here’s my question, got this little person with my last Reaper order, and I just wonder a little. The miniature is a little bit heavier set or “thicker” than the concept art, and I’m just wondering, does everything think this is a gnome lass and not a young gnome beardless gentleman? She’s kind of similar to the other set that has a very obvious gnomish lady: Just wondering if everybody else has painted this little hooded gnome as a lass?
  10. This is the thread where I'll paint my Dreadmere stuff to go with new Bones V stuff when it arrives. I started with my extra Gulper ( 44038 ) and rowboat (Dreadmere Fishing Boat 44032 ). starting with Gulper inspiration - the redtail catfish.
  11. Okey dokey, filling out the third of the quartet of cave persons: and him hanging out with his prehistoric homies: Fourth cave person coming soon!
  12. Hello all you fine lovers of all things Reaper! So working little by little on my little Reaper IV pieces, and this is the one I've just finished, a hardy little caveman, or cave person as to not offend those that care about those things. I'm working on the other three as well, but this is the first one I've completed. More to come soon...
  13. Ziba got started some time ago now as an excuse to try out the scale 75 fantasy and games copper nmm set that I had purchased and not really used. TBH I like their original line of paints better and I'm not sure I'll buy more of the F&G line. So after the copper, she got some red skin, firey hair, and then proceeded to sit until I decided to finish her up this weekend. I tried something I don't usually do for the sword hilts, and am not excited by how it turned out, but she is ready for the hypothetical tabletop none the less.
  14. Garghuk got painted a few months ago, but I don't recall posting him. He was still sitting out when I grabbed the camera earlier so I took a few shots of him as well. He had started off as a "learn to use the airbrush" project, but given I didn't really know what I was doing he ended up getting mostly done by hand.
  15. Jumping in here with my first post of miniatures! I've been painting for over 25 years, and once upon a time I did it competitively, but nowadays I prefer to stick to a straightforward tabletop quality because I can paint a lot more a lot faster. I have a large backlog of stuff to catch up on. These cavemen are from the Lost Valley expansion from the Bones 4 Kickstarter. I cut off their integral bases and put them on Reaper's 1" round gaming bases, because I want all of the bases for my Lost Valley stuff to match.
  16. Presenting a pair of Deep Gnome heroes (I'm calling them Harold and Alice) from Reaper. I got these to see what the Bones Black material was like on smaller minis (I was quite impressed), and while some parts could've gone better (One day I'll learn how to highlight dark blue) they were a lot of fun to paint up. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  17. Thanks to a friend's encouragement I finished my Orctober project just in time. It may only be one lonely Shaman but he still counts! Technically also my first Bones V miniature painted since he was one of the monthly preview promos.
  18. I've been plugging away at this chubby mini for a bit now, and here are some pics...
  19. Have painted up the free mini for this month. Lots of character, but not too much detail. Went for a 'goody' colour scheme.
  20. “Hans, have you ever had a look at our uniforms?” “Nah. Why?” “Well it’s just... it’s just that they’ve got skulls on them.” “Yeah... so?” “Hans... are we the baddies?”
  21. “Is that a troll over there?” “Oi, so, as I were sayin’, it’s like we’re the blokes doin’ all the fighting and whatnot, but they’re makin’ a lot more coin and owning all the land, see? It’s not fair, and I were sayin’ just th’other day to Mikey that we should—“ ROOOOOOOOOOOOAR “Uhoh.”
  22. Hello everybody, so once these came out in retail I was really pretty thrilled and bought some as soon as possible. Now that I've taken photos I see tons of errors, but oh well, I'm probably not going to fix anything any more with these two. I'd like to just mention that these two little gnomes were great fun to paint and as my second and third Bones Black figures that I've painted, I do enjoy working with the material. I did prime them, and the only real issue I had was those first coats of primer, and also a first coat of paint sticking on the figure properly (yes I washed them before starting to paint). Also removing the flash was a bit different than removing flash from metal, but not a horrible inconvenience. Anyway, here they are, hope you enjoy them! and the lovely pair together:
  23. Done! Not the best basing job, but I'm still proud.
