  1. CMPA is doing a "Bust a Move" challenge. I've been meaning to paint this lion for a while. The only non blue part are his eyes. The rest will be 50 Shades of Blue. I am basing with Dragon Blue, but intend to subdue it with less saturated blues as I go. First bust and first monochrome! Okay, almost monochrome
  2. I’ve been in a rut for the last few months not producing or working on anything. Partly too busy over the holidays and partly feeling uninspired. I want to get back into it, so to that end I’m going to do something different and pretty and light-hearted. I present “Fade” from Mirico. She’s a gorgeous bust with very striking details and a lot of room to interpret artistically. I hope you all enjoy the WIP while you follow along and please feel free to offer your comments and critiques!
  3. This lovely Boxer Dog Bust is sculpted by Anastasiya Podorozhna. I painted him like my own Boxer. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/77676-brutus-boxer-bust-by-glitterwolf/& Here is Brutus:
  4. I bought this wonderful bust of a Boxer Dog a while ago, I immediately knew I would paint it up as my Boxer Brutus. So here we go.
  5. As my first finished bust this one was an adventure, some mistakes were made but lots was learned. It was commissioned by a friend as a gift for his fiancee now wife who is also a really good friend. He did not have many requirements, just a similar color scheme to Ben Komets's version. The only variation I wanted to do was the shield design but my friend was ok with changing it. I still almost went with that design but found my way to the one that I ended up using and I am so happy with it. Any feedback is most welcome! WIP thread here: Shieldmaiden Bust
  6. So about to start on this bad boy.. everything got primed black during the recent warm streak except the vines on the front of his neck
  7. I've had a chunk of antler sitting in my drawer of basing materials for years, waiting for the right figure to use it on. I recently acquired the Bombshell Miniature Morihalda bust, and inspiration stuck! The antler was cut at a weird angle but I was able to use a hacksaw and a miter box to square off the top. I have the dilemma of trying to figure out a) the right orientation of the bust to the base, and b) if I want to fare in the bust pedestal to the antler using green stuff. I plan on putting a couple of pins in her base, and then matching sockets in the antler. I figure I can blank off the top of the antler with shrink wrap and then do the sculpting work (if I choose to pursue that) which would enable me to separate them again for priming/painting purposes. Anyway, I've come to you brave forumites for advice! I've got four pictures attached showing the four possible orientations of the bust/antler. Let me know which one you think is the most appealing choice! I'm partial to #3 myself, but my wife likes #4.
  8. Tuma Windrider from Legendarion. Another joy to paint with much detail. For those interested my WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62313-xherman1964-paints-tuma-windrider-legendarion-bust/ Hope you like him. Personally I was more satisfied with my job on the Hyena then on this one, but he was fun.

  10. Hair is base coated and washed, vest base coated..
  11. My 5th bust. Forged Monkey - Shaâ un Ram Warrior painted as a Slaangor. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/72600-sha%E2%80%99un-ram-tribe-warrior-bust-by-xherman1964/ Hope you like it!
  12. After working on her for more than a year, I finally finished the Countess. WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/65336-solarwind-countess-karnstein-bust-by-xherman1964/?hl=karnstein Many pics. So I will put them in a few posts: I learned a lot along the way. **** LADIES and GENTLEMEN and CREATURES visiting this Forum!!!*** **** I present SHE WHO RULES THE NIGHT!!!, THE MOST MURDEROUS ONE!!!!, THE LADY OF DARKNESS!!!!*** **** COUNTESS KARNSTEIN!!!**** *** That will do Furball!!!*** *** BEHOLD MY BEAUTY!!!!*** *** NOW BOW TO ME!!!***
  13. This is a heavy detailed bust from Legendarion. Meet Gebhuza the Hyena Warrior. In my mind he's an assassin / Bodyguard type, look at all those knives he's carrying besides his sword, I tried to make him into a Spotted Hyena. Hope you guys enjoy him. For those interested the WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62312-gebhuza-hyena-warrior-bust-by-xherman1964/
  14. Time to start a new WIP. My previous one crashed and burned fast with the featured projects being tabled for the foreseeable future. My focus now will be on ReaperCon projects, which I will be posting WIPs for soon, and this awesome bust that I call my top secret project. The Shieldmaiden bust from Nutsplanet has been one I have been interested in painting for awhile but never thought I would. Well a while back, a good friend asked if I would paint his on commission so he could gift it to his fiancée. He is also a miniature painter and planned on painting it himself but decided he wanted me to paint it instead. As his fiancée is also a good friend, I said yes. So enough chitchat, here are the first progress pictures. Shading on the skin has been blocked in and I have started blending. Not much to see at this point but any feedback would be appreciated. You are my only hope as Facebook is a no go.
  15. Darth Sana She stared at her adversary with cool and calm calculation, the Jedi was nervous... she saw the fear in his eyes, yes... GOOOOOOD.... fear would cause him to make mistakes.. she'd cut him down with her force-imbued katana and notch another Jedi scum on her belt... She snarled at him, "Come and die, you fight the Sith Mistress!" ---------------------------------------------------- Manufacturer: White Wolf Miniatures 3 parts: Head, body, Sword. Scale: 70mm high Sculptor: Juan Puerta Casting: Sago This was a labor of love and fun for me, I decided as soon as I saw this beautiful bust that I was going to paint her up as 'evil' and the paint scheme that called to me was to paint her up to look like Darth Maul, I added the horns with copper wire and then sculpted them on with ProCreate. Towards the end of the project, I was trying to decide how to display her and it came to me that I wanted to make her part of a story, give her a bit more of the Star Wars tie-in with a completely scratch-built Tie Fighter. The title placards on the sides were designed by my good friend @Thrym and I printed them off on cardstock and glued them onto the plasticard sides of the tie fighter. The scabbard is my attempt at a sort of force rune, it is Kanji which translates into "Sith Mistress." WIP can be found here: Without further ado, I present (Darth) Sana from White Wolf Miniatures! Thanks for looking (and following along), C&C are welcomed and greatly appreciated!
  16. Hi, I love painting Busts and large scale minis ( I blame @ub3r_n3rd). Just finished my 5th. Now which one shall I paint next? I like them all, and have trouble deciding, since I'm a slow painter I know I will be taking my time on it. Here are the candidates. I would appreciate it if you give your opinion. Maybe in a top 3 or something? Here are the candidates Pics in spoilers. Help me decide please. 1. Athena ( Albaster Bust - Greek Goddess of Wisdom) 2. Bonnie Ann Pirate Queen from Kabuki 3. Boxer Bust. ( I will paint it up as my Brutus) 4. Deus Vult ( Crusader Knight) 5. French Imperial Guard 6.Lizard NCO 7. Roman Centurion 8. Viking Beserker 9. Shieldmaiden
  17. *** Rise Creatures of Chaos !!!!*** *** It's time for Mankind to fall !!!*** A while ago I purchased this one through the Bay of Evil. It is supposed to be the Forged Monkey's bust. I have some doubts though. It was shown as an original, but it came without the original packing. Also I had to remove a lot of flash and needed heavy greenstuffing.. Could be a knock off. However I will paint it.. Started prepping.
  18. My good friends over at White Wolf Miniatures sent me Sana as a gift, she's an amazingly clean resin sculpt of a female samurai. As soon as I saw her I knew how I wanted to paint her up. I'm going with a Darth Maul color scheme with red and black and I'll freehand the sith symbol somewhere on her armor. I'll elicit your comments and critiques as I paint her up. Right now I have her washed, prepped, and ready to get primed. As you can see she's nearly 80mm tall.
  19. About this project Painted by - May Aguilar Andreu of MayArt Newly Cast Bust In 2016, our son who has Down syndrome graduated from high school. Most of the options for the disabled are limited so we decided to create our own opportunities for him. My wife left her career and we started Boyd's Toys. We are a small, family run business that specializes in resin cast figures and commercial printing. We do our own 3D printing, mold making, vacuum and pressure casting. John Boyd has over 30 years of printing and design experience and his favorite past time is table top games. We started creating our own figures in resin about 18 months ago on a 15 mm project called Chronicles of the Wayfarer. What is this project? Chronicles of the Wayfarer is a 15 mm war-game that has been under development for over a year now. It has two complete armies to support it and two more on the way. We have decided to release four busts to help raise funds and create a fan base to continue the development of CotW, so stay tuned ... three more are coming. Below you will find a sample selection of our upcoming release of Chronicles of the Wayfarer. These are 15 mm leaders of the Kilnites. Left to right: Knight of the Kiln, War Screamer, Shield Legion, and Crossbowmen Leader. These are submissions from a recent painting contest that we sponsored. For the first 48 hours we will be offering a free 30mm figure of the Lawgiver, "Unmasked". This figure will only be available in one of two ways and will never be sold by us after this Kickstarter. Anyone ordering a bust in the first 48 hours will receive one free. Anyone sharing our Kickstarter announcement on our Facebook page will be entered for a chance to win one of 10 figures. Anyone participating in the Kickstarter will have the ability to purchase additional figures. Once this campaign is done this version of the Lawgiver will be retired and his mask goes back on.
  20. I'm now finished with Nosferatu and have taken final pics. He came out as I intended and I got some very valuable feedback on the skin tones from awesome forum-mates. WIP found here: I present to you, Nosferatu, vampire lord from Green Monkey Models! C&C are welcomed and greatly appreciated! I'm also going to bring him to ReaperCon and enter him into the big figures contest on the forum
  21. As if I don't already have enough projects, I can't keep him waiting any longer! This is Nosferatu, a limited edition bust from Green Monkey Models. I have copy 11/50. This sculpt is amazingly detailed, it's creepy and awesome. I'm going to try out some new undead skin tones on this bust and just have some fun. I'll elicit all of your comments and critiques as I go through this project as well! As you can see he's nearly 90mm tall, a pretty sizable bust. I'm going to clean up the little bits of putty I used to make sure the seams where his arms join his body are smooth and even and then use the airbrush to layer on some primer!
  22. Hi, I think there must be a thread somewhere about this, but I can't find it. Occassionaly I paint busts and large scale figures. Until now they were mostly beastmen, undead and such, just one ( it was my first) human and she had warpaint covering her eyes. I have seen some stuff about painting human faces on this scale, dividing the face in a yellow, a red and a green/grey zone. Could anyone explain this some more? Do you basecoat the face in 3 different colours and then glaze over it with skincolours? What is the right approach? And if it is a large scale figure with bare arms and legs, do these zones need to be applied on the limbs too? And how? I would really want to learn more about this since I have some more busts waiting ( among others, A French Imperial Guard,A Centurion, A Crusader, A Pirate Girl, A Beserker, A Viking Girl, A Hoplite and A Celt) I would like to be able to paint more realistic faces with shadows, stubble, and such. Preferable using Reaper and Scale 75 paints. If possible give me a hint which colours to use in what stage? I would appreciate a nice tutorial or examples, if possible mentioning paint colours/brands.. Thanks in advance.
  23. Well, here are some proper photos of my latest completed work. Burak the dwarf from Mr. Lee's Minis. It was a fun project.
  24. Although now that I edit all the pics to fit in the post I see things I want to fix... sigh. Well, anyway I "finished" her! I learned a lot working on her skin and I'm happy with the colors. This is the Mother of Dragons bust from Nuts Planet. I opted not to paint her as Daenerys. My WIP is here, and I should have all of the color information there, but if anyone has questions please let me know. I'm always happy to explain or try to break the process down. I'm always trying to improve so C&C welcome! I like the walnut base. Here she is up close: and a few other angles. I had fun with the spiderwebs! Here's one to try to pick up the dragon's texture: It wasn't as successful as I wanted but I have to stop painting it and work on something else. Or I will probably wreck it! Enjoy! I'll see y'all in just 5 months!!!!
  25. Event though I need to finish touching up Alicia and finish her base, I have been distracted by this fine gentleman from Mr. Lee's Minis. Still a lot of work to do, but he's coming along nicely I think.
