So I've completed my CAV:SO Christmas Exchange piece and thought I'd post it here. I'm using my "speed painting" technique thats cut down my paint time for desert jobs at the moment. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out and pleased with my new photo set up.

Here's a Ritterlich Cataphract attack CAV painted in the 5th Dornheim Brigade's scheme. The Cataphract is available for sale and this is one of the grey bones miniatures from the first kickstarter!

I finally have six fighting CAV armies - some more fight-y than others. Some have enough models with enough variety to meet diverse challenges, and some are just barely legal if you squint right. Case in point? Here's my newly painted Ritterlich army! Notice a complete lack of infantry, aircraft, fighting vehicles, transports, and for that matter, primary squads.* But recon and artillery? Got that *covered*! Anyway, here's a glimpse of my boys in blue. They won't see much growth until next year when CAV KS II gets here, but they will see play because, hey, rhinos right? * As-is, I could only build two legal attack squads, both of which revolve around a rhino and a cataphract with either a recon model or a fire support model to get it up to a full squad of 4. Truth be told, I'm honestly thinking I'll re-purpose some of these cougars as Cougar IIs - something between a Cougar and a Jaguar, just for the sake of variety.

Hi all, I finally painted the Ritterlich Republic CAV's models from the Kickstarter. I started the force 1 year ago when the first Early Bird models came in and now I just finished with the 2 Silverbacks and Cataphracts that were added. The paint job was a bit rushed, and I had to stick to the colour scheme I chose way back... Not the best, but I'm still happy to call them done. Cataphract: SilverBack: Group Shot: I added some Halberd CAVs from the Grand Order of the Temple with this Ritterlich's force, as there weren't many Attack CAV in the Rit's selection from the Kickstarter.

Over Easter, I'm trying to get some paint on the wonderful new Bones CAVs I've got. I'm starting with the Cataphract, Silverback and Imperator, three of the new designs introduced in the Kickstarter. The Cataphract and Silverback will be a brown-and-grey camo scheme to go with my existing Ritterlich minis, while I'm going for a garish yellow pattern for the Imperator, since Rach are known for being preening peacocks favouring overt colour schemes. First off, undercoats. The Imperator gets a Muddy Brown base, the other two an Oiled Leather base. Once that's dried, Muddy Brown and Stone Grey are sponged onto the Cataphract and Silverback... ...while the Imperator gets two coats of Sun Yellow. And after the yellow is dried, Peacock Green is added as highlight lines, with Lava Orange in flame patterns. Now moving on to the finer details!
