ReaperCon 2022 vendor named Kawna Miniatures had some great sculpts and I picked this one up to paint as an Xmas gift. She’s based on a Dungeons & Lasers base as I’m a huge fan of that company too.

A while ago I was on a Beast-People kick, and promised more beast-fellas! But I don't remember delivering until now. Behold, the mighty Sabertooth Tiger man, 02785. He is enormous! (The lynx is a Bombshell Companion) Here's a comparison with S'kara, last seen here. You can see the tusky boy is huge! A more gracile feline is this Rogue from Nolzur's. She's accompanied by two rat-bastards, Ver-Men from Blacktree. One of them is clearly a magic-user, the other some sort of violence specialist. The ratties had minor appearances in Boren Backslap's tale, but not a good front-and-center showoff if I recall. I really need to run a Feywild game to get some of these on the table.

The first mini I finished in 2021 is this Tabaxi Rogue from Oathsworn Miniatures from the Sensible Shoes (SKU SS29). Normally I dread painting lots of bags and other accessories, but it went smoothly this time. Not too happy with the blueish magical sword, but the rest turned out fine.

With Theros out, I've been looking for more Leonin mini options. I prefer plastic over metal/resin simply because I can afford more of it. Anyone got any leads on some good leonin minis? Or big-cat inspired catfolk in general as opposed to the domesticated cat-folk type. It looks like I would have been set if I was looking for these a few years ago when every online store had Alkemy on clearance, but now that game is just a bit too costly for the number of minis I'd get.

This is a pretty awesome Julie Guthrie figure that has been in my paint queue for years. Was having trouble finishing it, but found inspiration over the weekend.

This is my second entry into the Reaper Facebook Convert and Paint contest. I wanted to do this one because I love doing dragonman (dragonborn) conversions. There just aren't enough kinds of dragonmen to model for various character classes. And I'm glad that the catfolk minis came out within the last year because when I think about dragonmen, I like to see their clawed hands and feet, so it makes them great for such a conversion in my eyes. These were the minis used for parts, including pieces from the dragonman conversion kit: 03457. Poor Shadoweyes got her head and tail cut off. Then I had to do some filing and filling to smooth out the cuts (particularly in the back because the tail was sculpted against the backs of the right leg and sword) and some of the fur pattern on her arms and legs. Also had to create small bit armor at the base of the tail so the pieces flowed together well. All Captain Razig lost was his hat and added a head and tail from the conversion kit. Originally, she was going to be green with dark purple/red armor. But after I got the original base coats on, I felt she looked too much like a lizard and not a dragon, so I switched it up. She ended up being the winner. I was shocked. I figured I might place, but pretty as she is, I didn't think this was one of my better pieces. But she was fun to do and I'm glad the Reaper folks put together this event. And now, because I still feel bad about chopping off Shadoweyes' head, I'm using a portion of the winnings to buy another one to paint!

My PCs are all grown up, and I needed someone new. When I saw this mini, I knew she would be mine. I present Miss Meliora Felidae, Mesmerist: (Forgive the wobbly lines and dots on her underskirt. I’m still working on my freehand skills.)

My most recently complete project is the lovely ladies of Oathsworn Miniature's "Heroines in Sensible Shoes 3" Kickstarter. As always, they are a joy to paint. They have nice, bold details but without being overwrought. They definitely look like a bunch of starting adventurers! The theme this time was more exotic races, notably a bunch from "Volo's Guide to Monsters" The ladies ascend the mountain: The Kitsune. She could be a lightly armored Fighter, a Rogue, or a Ranger. The Kenku (or Tengu) Shaman. Or Wizard. Or Sorcerer. Or whatever. She's got a bone to pick with you! The Kenku or Tengu Rogue. I went with oranges for them to continue my previous work on the Bones Tengu...which were also dressed in orange to match the official D&D pre-paints. The Dragonborn, could be a Fighter or Paladin. The decision to make her red was regrettable...with that pointy face and dreads, I kept thinking of Ugandan Warrior Knuckles. Stupid memes getting in the way! Tabaxi or Catfolk. I tried to go with more of a Ranger color scheme than the intended Rogue. The other Tabaxi/Catfolk from the set. I liked the intent of this sculpt...she could be a spellcaster, a Monk, or a Bard! The Halfling Knight. Her mount was painted after my own painting gremlin, Hershey. He would be much smaller to scale, though. The Tiefling Paladin. I really like the pose of this one, though I questioned the hooves, as 4E and 5E Tieflings of this design have human feet. I may wind up greenstuffing her into boots at some point. The Firbolg Druid. As far as I know, this is the only miniature of a 5E style Firbolg. The Minotaur Swashbuckler. I bet you were expecting a cow joke here. The terrain:

I recently got in the latest "Heroines in Sensible Shoes" Kickstarter from Oathsworn Miniatures. I decided to get started on them and take (yet another) break from my in progress Rising Sun minis. As \always, they were nice, clean casts with lots of detail, but nothing over-wrought...which makes sense for low-level adventurers! They're such a joy to paint.

After we started the Rise of the Runelords PbP here, I found myself on a mission. I created a catfolk character, Kehrgl (only later would I reflect on the closeness to a certain kind of exercise, LoL, and then decide to keep the name anyway), and I wanted a mini to suit her. And holy crap--catfolk minis are a job to come by. Ones that fit the bill, at least. Luckily, someone directed me to the Panthera Tribe in the 100 Kingdoms game, by Black Orc Games. And there I found some pretty cool cat-people minis. And go figure! Apparently sculpted by Sandra Garrity. Of course I'd like them. I think it's a really nice mini, beyond being simply leaps and bounds by most of the catfolk-types I's finding. I had quite a bit of fun with her, though she was exceedingly simple. Kind of felt my way into the purple--didn't want blue, but still wanted it to feel warm to me (but also cool, I guess; whatever). Decided to put her on a base from Micro Arts Studio. Tried a little vine action with some stuff I got; I swear it doesn't look as much like chopped broccoli irl. I'm pretty pleased with her, all in all. Thanks for looking!
