  1. I wasn't great about taking a bunch of pics along the way so far, but here are what I have: Both minis got a soap bath with warm water, Dawn dish soap, and a good scrub with a toothbrush. Once dry, I primed the pony with Reaper's Brush on Primer - which I had to scrub off with soap and reprime three or four times before it would not bead up. Then they both got a coat of Brown Liner: As you can see, I picked out a 30mm base for the pony. I haven't dug through my bases yet for the bull. I then hit them with a blotchy coat of Ancient Bronze, then Lava Orange, and then Bloodstain Red.
  2. My next installment in my monthly Reaper Chibi, Gus. He was an experiment slightly mono-chromatic. I used various shades of blues in all but the highest white. Thanks for viewing and any C&C.
  3. Over halfway through the month and I decided I needed to start my next reaper Halloween chibi. So random draw at the start of the month was Gus. I had him all prepped up over the month. So I started him up today. Base coat of RMS Ghost White. Not original I know, but I wanted to go blue. So I shaded down with 3 layer of a mix of ghost white and sapphire blue. After that I blended back in some ghost white. Then I highlighted up with Pure White. I then base coated the chains with a mix of cloudy grey and sapphire blue. Here is what I wound up with after all that.
  4. Another day another chibi. I bought a number of these at Gencon and I have been working on them to make room for the Impact ponyfinder kickstarter. And hopefully figure out how to make the paint stick. This attempt was using dullcote as a coating to allow the paint to have something to grab on to. this failed miserably. Apparently even dullcote has a hard time sticking to the dark grey resin Impact uses. the dullcote peeled off in sheets. had to wash it again, scrub the dullcote off and lightly sand the areas that wouldn't let paint adhere. And then the paint cracked in some of those areas. All said and done for as many mishaps as this little beastie had, he came out pretty nice. hes a little dragon so he guards a little pile of coins courtesy of Basius C&C always welcome Next try is to scrub hard with dawn dish detergent and a toothbrush and see what happens.
  5. the second of my resolution paintings for this year and (once you get the base coat to stick) a really fun mini to paint. This is another of the chibi dragons from Impact miniatures. this is the "blue" version. The eyes I am not overly happy with. i still need work on my overlays when it comes to adding depth to eyes. Sorry for the camera lighting, me and by little cannon are having issues again. I need a camera that lets me control the shutter speed! With that, here is the mini. I hope you enjoy him. I enjoyed doing the eyes and the "I'm cute, don't hurt me" pose is interesting on a dragon. C&C welcome as always!

I finally got around to finishing up the last of my Bonesylvanians. My wife has been trying to get me to finish this one so we can display it for a week and then finally put all the halloween figures away. I kept putting this one off because of all the individual cloth strips. Any C&C is welcome.
  7. Some of my works in progress on Arcadia Quest minis. I think I saw a detailed tutorial some time ago on chibi eyes on the reaper forums, but I can't find it now. I am considering doing freckles on the Scarlet model, any suggestions? Kanga - Currently skintones and eyes finished. I'm wanting to keep the tones of the cloth muted to keep the skintones as a high point. Johan - - Base and touch up work Scarlet - Base and touch up work. Considering adding freckles to the face, but can't find good examples or any tutorials yet. Maya - Detail and base work remains. I can notice that there is supposed to be a garter of some type on the leg in this picture Diva - I want to work up to a gold NMM armor in yellow portions. Not sure what the emblem in the middle is "supposed" to be. Hair, eyes, face, silver armor, and cloth are mostly finished - might have some touch ups.

    1533: Jack

Well, here is a mini I painted just for fun to give me a break from the LTPK3 NMM figures I was working on. I attempted to give him glowing eyes and NMM for the buttons. I had fun painting him up. Thanks for viewing and any C&C you feel like giving. Edit to remove spacing I had it for some reason.
  9. Well I have 12 Reaper Chibi so I decided that I will attempt to paint 1 a month this year. My random draw for january, Jack Pumpkinhead, He is primed and his head base coated photo'd with my cellphone.
  10. This one was just too cute not to paint, although I certainly waited long enough. I picked him up in Gencon and he has been staring at me waiting for some paint. I like the eyes but after the photos I think I may need a little additional cleanup on them around the edges. One thing i will note with all the Impact minis: the resin they have likes to refuse paint, both normal and primer. It beads up with the least provocation. and this is after 2 scrubbings with dish soap and warm water followed by a warm and cool rinse. even when a good coat is achieved it is very fragile and can be easily chipped. If anyone has suggestions to getting paint or primer to bond better I would love to hear it. I don't have this problem with resin from Darksword, Reaper, or Stonehaven, and I don't see it on Bones unless I don't wash them first. Anyway, enjoy! Hope you find her as cute as I did. comments always welcome!
  11. the first of my resolution paintings for this year and (once you get the base coat to stick) a really fun mini to paint. This is one of the chibi dragons from Impact miniatures. I tried to do some side lighting on the miniature rather than just top down. The pose is repeated through out all 6 of their dragons, which are basically the same body with different heads and wings. As I have said with others of their product, the biggest issue is getting paint to stick. for whatever reason a combination of washing, sandpaper, and just patience is required to get a smooth base coat, whether it is paint or primer, and the darker the resin, the more trouble you're likely to have.

    01534: Patch

This is Patch... another quick paint of the halloween Chibi sculpted by Bob Ridolfi I hope you enjoy.
  14. I decided to take a break after completing my Secret Sophie project and paint something quick... ??and cute?? (so to speak) As I was turning around to select a mini I bumped my painting table and was immediatly attacked by a small crazed Zombie with an oversized head! Bart leaped off the shelf of "I will get to you someday ness" , dodged the paint bottles and the cleaning water on the desk, rolled over and off the desk and attacked viciously... landing on my foot! After showing such intiative I decided he earned a quick table top paint job.. so here he is. 01535 Bart sculpted by Bob Ridolfi
  15. I am close to finishing up with the Bonesylvanian minis I bought so I thought I would start posting them. Here they are in the order they were painted. 1. Jack 2. Esme 3. Gus 4. Gil 5. Patch 6. Morty 7. Van 8. Drak 9. Bart

  18. Here is a pig from Impact! miniatures chibi lineup. I don't know that he belongs in anyone's game, but he was definitely fun to paint.
  19. Did these as a commission job. The client requested I paint them as the reaper site list them and here's what he got! A little over 6 hours for the lot. The ones that are missing I forgot to take pictures of. I will next post!

    Void Gels

Well, I've ended up getting a lot more fireflow denizens than I ever anticipated I would. My wife painted the first two sets of fire gels (they're so cute, she couldn't help herself) but I got to paint the third set. Naturally, all of the more normal ideas were taken (you know, painting them as if they were some kind of fire, maybe even different colored fires). So I took an evening, and put on some Doctor who and here's what I ended up with.
  21. So this is my first attempt to paint a chibi and I am very happy with him. Unfortunately he is not mine to keep. Right after the Bonesylvanian announcement I was asked to paint a miniature for my game group's Halloween party raffle and he was the chosen one. Who knows though, I could win him. Any input would be appreciated.
  22. This is the first Bonesylvanian chibi I have painted since receiving my order last week. I even used some of the paints that shipped with him. I submit to the Reaper members JACK critiques and comments are very welcome.
  23. Another Chibi Mini's Kickstarter, this time for Cthulhu Miniatures. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/674003445/chibi-gaslight-horror-cthulhu-mythos-and-sci-fi-mi Some of them look pretty nice. The monsters are adorable. Very tempting.

    Captain R

Here is the fine undead captain from Super Dungeon Explore. I rather enjoyed painting him- especially the trimming. He turned out just a bit darker than most of my SDE, but I feel that this is working well with the undead feel. I'll have to give someone pink hair to make up for it.
  25. I think Medusa was my very favorite of Impact!'s chibi sculpts. Anyway, here's my version of her.
