  1. Back with part two of the Skeletal Monsters set! I thought of adding some mold/moss to the bones on this, and I used an old terrain trick of mixing flock with PVA glue. It looks alright, but I don't think I'll be doing it on the last one.
  2. Hey all, been a while. Quick job from Bones 4. Added a saddle, threw on a Mantic Soul Reaver cavalry rider with a head swap from Puppetswar.
  3. So I've been painting a lot of character models and low level monsters lately, so I decided to tackle a large monster. I pulled out the bag with Bones manticore, chimera and sphinx and lost my mind, deciding to paint all three. Then I acquired the Bones Black efreeti and could not resist painting her as well. First up the chimera 77257. I should have taken another photo of the front of the model from a higher angle so that you could see the eyes of the dragon head but I was too lazy. I did not notice the blob of white paint until I uploaded the file. Isn't
  4. A few touched up prepainted minis. I touched up a few of these a year ago, but today I decided to bring out the green stuff and stamp some new bases for them. The chimera and darkenbeast are from the D&D blind box minis. The peryton, falcon, and ruffian are from Pathfinder battles. The falcons were complete repaints, as the original was a brown falcon. I wanted an "eagle" with a celestial and demonic template, as our summoner was using them extensively at the time. I tried to make sure that the peryton had two different bases, as the paint scheme on them is ide
  5. Manny & Manfred the Manticore Brothers. They've teamed up with Goreflame the Chimera for a bit of Town baiting.
  6. Hi, Here is my take on the Reaper Chimera in Bones. Mine was pretty wonky and wasn't responding well to boiling water, but I still like the sculpt very much. I re-based the mini on a 50*50mm square in order to use it as a "Beast of Nature" for my "Kings Of War - Forces of Nature" army. Paint job is my standard army quality, but I had some fun on the base with some putty and water effects. I'm trying to get most of the bases in this army to be a bit scenic.
  7. I just finished the Chimera from the second Bones kickstarter. Bones seem to work really well for relatively large creatures like this, though I had to fill some pretty big gaps. I liked the challenge of making the three heads look distinct, but still part of the same creature. I stuck to a fairly standard color scheme: relatively natural colors for the lion and the goat, and the red dragon fits well with that color scheme. But I made an effort to harmonize the colors together. And I made the eyes of all three heads the same (though it's a little hard to see), so they look like they are all pa
  8. Here's my entry for this years huge reaper minis competition. We've already gotten to use him in our campaign with my little one (the mouslings mostly fought him from the inside after they got swallowed). I decided to go with a strong light and dark composition for him- I honestly think he matches the Iron Kingdoms dragons pretty well. If he had a head plate over his eyes, he'd fit right in with everblight warbeasts (except that he's a whole lot bigger).
  9. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the forums, I'm here to unload another batch of my old enamel paint jobs from around 15-25 years ago. Fire Giant Bonesnapper Satyrs Gorgon Kobolds Umber Hulk Rust Monster Chimera Bulette
  10. What's got 3 heads & goes "roar", "hiss" & "baaaaaa"............? This vintage Citadel "Chimera"! I based my colours on the description in the 4th edition AD&D monster manual but changed the dragon head from orange to red. Interestingly, this mini never had wings. Thanks for looking.
  11. Had a fun paint session with family on Saturday. My brother-in-law and his daughter have never painted a mini so I asked if they wanted to join in as my daughter and I painted something. They had a great time. Even the brother-in-law who got so into it and when anyone asked if he was having fun would just say "it is something to do". My daughter chose the Brass Bull: My niece chose the Chimera: And the brother-in-law was given the Sharkman: He already has plans on what he wants to do next weekend to finish it up. So we will need to get him set up at the table once we

  13. Not my best work or pics. An OOP model from Harlequin ( GW alternative from the 90's). Still I like old minis. So here he is ( again, due to account trouble I;m reposting my work).
  14. To complete the set, we have the dreaded Chimera and the Brass Bull.
  15. So I'm considering in the near future painting an old Ral Partha chimera sculpted in the eighties by sculpting goddess Julie Guthrie. Here's my dilemma: should I paint each piece of the beast according to its natural color ( lion part tawny brown, goat black/white/grey, and dragon red/green) or do I take an approach where I would paint the whole figure red with a black mane? Opinions from the peanut gallery would be extremely welcome! Thanks, Mark
