I painted this guy twice during 2022. This is the first copy (from the virtual expo) that I did in July or August. He's got a nice attitude: whatever is in that cannister is definitely none of your business, chum. Base by Secret Weapon Miniatures.

I painted this guy up for use in StarGrave, 5 Parsecs From Home, or any other sci-fi skirmish game I might get involved in. His paint scheme is very loosely based on a well known smuggler from a galaxy far, far away. I tried to get his eyes looking off to his left; I think I didn't make him look too bad. I hope you like him.

Because of all the lockdowns I got a lot of painting done last year. This year, not so much. It's hard for me to see my brush skills vanish into nothing, and my projects keep dragging on for ever when I have only one or two days a month for painting. But enough complaining! I did get a few hours in and to take a break from my current projects I painted up this little diver. He's paying hommage to a diving spot in Italy that I really like. Nothing but sand and sea cucumbers (that's what the brown things on the base are supposed to be, thank you very much!😊). But crystal clear turquoise waters - shown here by the unconventional colour of the rim. For a more "underwatery" feel I glazed on a final filter of Surf Aqua. Note to self: Next time, use a paint with a little less white pigment for that effect! Anyway, here he is, enjoy! C&c very welcome. And remember: Sea cucumbers! Those brown things are sea cucumbers!

Got the first set of 5 done. I bought 5 Santas (one was in my bones 5), 4 Mrs. Claus, 4 Christmas mouselings. I'm preparing a holiday ornament and diorama for friends to give them. Santa is now complete, but still need to get him on his base with Mrs. Claus. Battle Report! I painted my first santa with a black primer. It took about 4 or 5 layers to get red to actually show and not look washed out. I just happened across a youtube video where Paintman Journeying was talking about how laying pink under red will help coverage and saturation. Was worth a try for how many red clothes characters i was about to do. WORKS AMAZING. I then took all of them to base coat with airbrush. And not only that, it gave me a great way to go through more of the BCA pink i have 5 bottles of. Finally i can use it on more things! Warning for others: BCA pink has weird coverage. It's very very very very chalky. I hadn't noticed it on my small parts i use to paint it on like tongues or trinkets, but on big areas i really noticed. The assembly like setup on these worked great. Painted in this order: Coat, pants, hat first. Santa's gift bag (different red) next. Cream trims next. Face. Teddy bear. Washes on face and bear. Gloves, boots, and belt. Packages and trim. So far so good.

Painted this guy waaay back in April. Been a while since I did any show off threads... Anyway, had fun making his carapace look shiny. This was also a special needs Bathalian, coming to me with a missing tentacle. I was able to carve one out of some leftover sprue that I keep on hand for such emergencies. I'm looking forward to painting his friends.

I went with saturated colors on this one. Enough of the black and brown, this Sascha is from a dimension where the future's so bright you gotta wear shades.

Good ol' Frank Buck, always manages to find trouble, no matter where he goes. And when he doesn't find it, you can be sure trouble is looking for him. This was a quick speed paint, making use of washes and shading products.

Hard to go wrong with sexy female demons, but this one was a devil in more than one sense of the word from start to finish. Despite being cast in metal she is pretty fragile. The trident broke off and for years she sat in my box of unpainted figs, until one day I found the little pointy bit. Her tail, likewise, kept bending and i was sure I'd lose that too. Did her skin with the Bright Skin triad, because that's been waiting patiently for years as well. Her face is a mess, but overall she came out ok.

This is the plastic bulldog model from Bones 4 Chronoscope with a head swap from the sheriff in that set. Really simple paint job largely based on contrast paint. Fluorescent yellow features are done using vallejo mecha colour paint. The idea is to use this chap in Stargrave and other skirmish games. The intention was for him to be unarmed, ie in a walker that had been used for defence or mischief and didn't have ant armaments.

Painted her up last weekend at the RVE for class. Now this is definitely not my best paint job, far from it. Nor is it a creative colour scheme - it is exactly as given in class. Still, Sascha is one of the minis I am proudest of. You see, I am a really slow painter. When I paint a mini, it usually takes forever. Even for my "get-it-off-my-desk-quality" I need more than a week to finish just the painting. Not with her I didn't! All painting was done during the one hour class (except prepping and varnishing, of course).When the Zoom feed ended I put down my brushes. I didn't correct any mistakes I found later. And I won't. This class was a game changing experience for me. Thanks, Tish Wolter, for making that happen!

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great Black Friday. Here are pictures of 50287, Cain the Cyber-Troll sculpted by Bobby Jackson. This Chronoscope model was designed by Wayne Reynolds, Winner of the Reaper Con 2011 DYOM (Design Your Own Miniature) Auction. It is also available in Bones Black version under SKU: 49028. I added the katana on its back to be faithful to the concept art illustration and painted it with Reaper MSP paint.

I decided to work on the Chtulhu Chronoscope sailor minis for my lighthouse. I might need to get a few more ship's hands.

Speed paint job that I did as part of my 4th of July Paint Binge this year. I was vaguely going for crazy Rutger Hauer from Blade Runner, with the white hair.

I have now completed a squad of these minis. I just really like the style of the power armour for each type of soldier. Nearly all the parts are Reaper and come on the sprues for the actual minis. However I did head swap the alien chap, taking a head from a space soldier from Bones 4. And the older gentleman ("everything on this damn Battlefield beeps...") has a head from Victrix Limited, who make ancient and dark age figures. Paint scheme was ultra simple, a primer layer with Vallejo Early Green, a wash with GW camoshade, and black templar contrast paint for the guns. Scale 75 Viking Gold for the visors. I am playing around with free hand, for the numbers and decoration, am not very good at it but can always paint the areas white again.

I haven't painted a scifi mini for about 20 years, with the exception of the Zombicide Invaders game. I really liked the look of the Bulldog and Corsair power armour from Chronoscope, and because I can't help myself did both of them as female conversions. I did an ultra simple scheme for the armour (Vallejo "Earth Green - early") and then a GW camo shade wash. The heads are from Statuesque miniatures. The Bulldog pilot has Scale 75 African shadow as a base coat, highlighted up with Scale 75 Iroko (yellow/cream) and a final highlight of just Iroko. The textured base for the Bulldog is wall paper. There is going to be a Scifi version of Frostgrave in the new year and am probably angling for that.

This one I painted a few years ago. I'm pretty happy with the stones on the base. I wouldn't trust her when I got sick though. New Pics taken for the Pandemic Challenge

Finished up Tess McFadden to give me the minimum I need to form a Zona Alfa crew. She is also sculpted by Kev White who also did the Hasslefree sculpts, so they mix well together. One of my goals for 2020 is to get at least one unit of figures painted each month. This month's unit is some XairBots (Bones Black 49012, 49013 & 49014) that I painted up for the Nordic Weasel Game Renagade Scout. These are speed paints that took a couple nights from start to finish.

Since I hadn't seen many other paint jobs go by I thought people might like to see my goblin in power armor. And a blood nebula mercenary for scale.

I painted this dude up as my technomancer for our Starfinder campaign. The idea is his coat is very tech-ey. I used a Bones Chronoscope miniature and modded in some antenna. Also slightly purple skin, cause this is a Lashunta.
