  1. I upgraded my super cheap lightbox with some LED ribbons, so I've been playing around with photographing some recent minis. Here's a pair of Bones Chthons that I did fairly quickly (for me!). I primed them with Blue Liner, then the scales got an overall Peacock Green followed by Viper Green highlighting. The bellies were highlighted with Ice Blue (I think). Fleshy bits are Monarch Purple on the outside, and Entrail Pink highlighted with Breast Cancer pink on the inside. Teeth were done with the Bone Triad, with some dark red inside the mouth.
  2. Now the first thing I might need to explain is what the Emerald Nightmare is, and why it's red instead of green! The Emerald Nightmare is a place from the game World of Warcraft, and it's a corrupted version of the wonderful lush Emerald Dream. The Nightmare is shades of grey and black with orange, red and pink, filled with twisted trees, mangled dryads and chtulhu-esque horrors. In fact, I think the loading screen to the Emerald Nightmare gives a nice impression: The models I painted in this style are a Chthon, a Dryad and a Treeman! All three of them together. Dryad is nude. The Dryad is nude. Back of the dryad, still nude.
  3. This is Reaper's very own lovable version of a monster from a fairly popular RPG. I painted this up to my usual tabletop level, let me know what you think, please.
  4. When a mommy chthon and a daddy chthon love each other very much, they have a baby chthon. He joins some I did a while ago. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/51211-3603-chthon/#comment-759262
  5. Bones Model 77228: Chthon Painted this guy up tonight. He was a small one, but rather fun to paint. Chthon (aka a Grick)
  6. Here it is my first partially airbrushed miniature. I airbrushed the grey liner primer coat and the basecoat of the body and mouth, then got crazy and tried a simple fade from dark to light in the mouth. I then went back though and finished the mouth with some wet blending and used a brush for the rest of the figure. I gave the mouth a gloss coat and the body a matte coat. All and all I think this took me about an hour or so which is pretty fast for me. Thanks for looking.
  7. For my Spring Exchange, I had RomulanCmdr and knowing she likes sci-fi stuff, I embarked upon a journey to paint up a piece that I thought she'd like. I had gotten Sally Starfield a while back (she's a bombshell babe sculpted by Patrick Keith) and this particular figure inspired me to think about where she'd be and what she'd be doing. Figures: Sally Starfield by Bombshell Miniatures - SKU# 10002 Bones Chthon by Reaper Miniatures - SKU# 92639 Without further ado, here's the story of Sally Starfield and her encounter upon Planet 045Z-Beta. Encounter on Planet 045Z-Beta Sally Starfield, being the lead scout, was selected to visit Planet 045Z-Beta to search for any intelligent life upon the service as the scans from orbit indicated that in the absence of life, the planet was rich in resources. Scans couldn't penetrate the strange radiation coming from the planet to determine life though, so Sally was selected to go forth and explore. She walked along the desolate surface for a while when suddenly a hideous creature sprang forth from the ground. It was clicking and clacking it's huge mandibles and a green ooze was emanating forth from its body. Sally quickly drew forth her laser pistols and took aim...
  8. Still very much a noob at painting, but I feel like this guy is ready to move off my bench and onto the done shelf. This is my first attempt at any sort of free hand detailing, and I feel like it came out *fairly* well, but not excellent. The suckers could definitely use more depth (they look kinda flat). Definitely need to also work on my photography. No special lighting setup this time (I really wasn't happy with what I tried last time). Planning on grabbing a couple of cheap reflectors from walmart and lighting my spare desk in my office for both painting and shooting minis. So without further Ado, here's the thing that's coming for you in your next dungeon:
